_____________________________________________

Top 10 Mexico Cities By Population

Mexico has a rich and diverse population history that spans thousands of years. The region that is now modern-day Mexico has been inhabited by various indigenous cultures for millennia. Here is a brief overview of Mexico's population history:

Pre-Columbian Era (Before 1519):
Before the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors in 1519, Mexico was home to several advanced indigenous civilizations, including the Olmec, Maya, Toltec, and Aztec (or Mexica) civilizations. These civilizations developed sophisticated societies with complex social, political, and economic structures. The population of the region during this time is estimated to have been in the millions, but precise figures are difficult to determine.

Spanish Colonial Era (1519-1821):
Following the Spanish conquest led by Hernán Cortés, Mexico became a colony of the Spanish Empire. The Spanish brought settlers from Europe to establish colonies and carried out significant intermarriage with the indigenous population. This mixing of Spanish and indigenous populations gave rise to a new ethnic group known as mestizos. Over time, the mestizo population became the largest demographic group in Mexico.

During this era, Mexico also experienced a significant population decline due to diseases brought by the Europeans, such as smallpox, which decimated indigenous populations. Many indigenous people were also subjected to forced labor and exploitation under Spanish rule.

Independence and Post-Colonial Era (1821-1910):
Mexico gained its independence from Spain in 1821. Following independence, Mexico experienced a period of political instability, economic challenges, and territorial changes. The population continued to grow, albeit at a slower pace due to the lingering effects of colonization.

Mexican Revolution and 20th Century:
The Mexican Revolution, which lasted from 1910 to 1920, brought about significant social and political changes in Mexico. The revolution aimed to address issues of land reform, labor rights, and social inequality. The population continued to increase, and efforts were made to improve education and healthcare services.

Modern Era:
In recent decades, Mexico's population has continued to grow steadily. The population of Mexico was estimated to be around 126 million people. However, please note that population figures may have changed since then.

Mexico has also experienced significant migration patterns, both within the country and internationally. There have been movements of people from rural areas to cities in search of better economic opportunities. Additionally, there has been migration between Mexico and the United States, with many Mexicans seeking employment and a better standard of living north of the border.

It's important to note that Mexico is a diverse country with various ethnic groups, including indigenous peoples, mestizos, Afro-Mexicans, and people of European, Asian, and Middle Eastern descent. This diversity contributes to the cultural richness and heritage of the country.

Mexico City, North America | Mexico City Tour guide | Mexico City Night Life

Mexico City, is the capital and largest city of Mexico, and the most populous city in North America. One of the world's alpha cities,[16] it is located in the Valley of Mexico within the high Mexican central plateau, at an altitude of 2,240 meters (7,350 ft). The city has 16 boroughs or demarcaciones territoriales, which are in turn divided into neighborhoods or colonias.

Mexico's capital is both the oldest capital city in the Americas and one of two founded by indigenous people. The city was originally built on a group of islands in Lake Texcoco by the Mexica (Aztecs) around 1325, under the name Tenochtitlan. It was almost completely destroyed in the 1521 Siege of Tenochtitlan and subsequently redesigned and rebuilt in accordance with the Spanish urban standards. In 1524, the municipality of Mexico City was established, known as México Tenochtitlán, and as of 1585, it was officially known as Ciudad de México (Mexico City). Mexico City was the political, administrative, and financial center of a major part of the Spanish colonial empire. After independence from Spain was achieved, the federal district was created in 1824.

Mexico City has three zoos. Chapultepec Zoo, the San Juan de Aragon Zoo and Los Coyotes Zoo. Chapultepec Zoo is located in the first section of Chapultepec Park in the Miguel Hidalgo. It was opened in 1924. Visitors can see about 243 specimens of different species including kangaroos, giant panda, gorillas, caracal, hyena, hippos, jaguar, giraffe, lemur, lion, among others. Zoo San Juan de Aragon is near the San Juan de Aragon Park in the Gustavo A. Madero. In this zoo, opened in 1964, there are species that are in danger of extinction such as the jaguar and the Mexican wolf. Other guests are the golden eagle, pronghorn, bighorn sheep, caracara, zebras, African elephant, macaw, hippo, among others. Zoo Los Coyotes is a 27.68-acre (11.2 ha) zoo located south of Mexico City in the Coyoacan. It was inaugurated on 2 February 1999. It has more than 301 specimens of 51 species of wild native or endemic fauna from the area, featuring eagles, ajolotes, coyotes, macaws, bobcats, Mexican wolves, raccoons, mountain lions, teporingos, foxes, white-tailed deer.
