🇹🇹 Trinidad & Tobago Travel Series:
ST. GEORGE’S SPICE MARKET: Here, we met spice vendors and handicraft vendors selling items like handmade sandals and masks. I tried ginger wine, sea moss wine, roasted ginger nuts, honey roasted nuts, sorrel juice, ginger beer, and a sea moss milkshake!
BB’S CRAB BACKS: At this seaside restaurant, I met BB and had a delicious Grenadian feast of rice and peas, goat curry, crab backs, bake, fried plantains, papadum, and mango chutney. It was incredible, but the star of the show was the tender and fatty goat curry…or is it curry goat?

Christopher Columbus arrived on Grenada in 1498. The island was already inhabited by the Carib Indians, who had migrated from the South American mainland, killing or enslaving the peaceful Arawaks who were already inhabitants there. The Amerindians called their island Camerhogue, but Columbus renamed it Concepción. However, passing Spanish sailors found its lush green hills so evocative of Andalusia that they rejected this name in favor of Granada.
There is so much to see in Grenada ... historic forts, lakes, waterfalls, spice estates - some of them still operational today, spice gardens, floral gardens (Grenada won its 7th Gold Medal at the Chelsea Flower Show in London in 2009), rum distilleries (with generous samples), plantation houses, Amerindian petroglyphs, etc.

GRENADA TRAVEL GUIDE - WHAT TO SEE IN 1 DAY - 4K - 2023
Grenada is a Caribbean country comprising a main island, also called Grenada, and smaller surrounding islands. Dubbed the “Spice Isle,” the hilly main island is home to numerous nutmeg plantations. It’s also the site of the capital, St. George’s, whose colourful homes, Georgian buildings and early-18th-century Fort George overlook narrow Carenage Harbour. To the south is Grand Anse Beach, with resorts and bars. ― Google

Exploring the Isle of SPICE, Grenada! Forts, Food & Falls 🇬🇩
Today we're exploring the ENTIRE island of Grenada! It's possible to drive around the whole place in just a few hours, but you'll want to take your time and explore properly. With Kitaka & family/friends we start off in the capital city of St Georges and explore the (creepy!) hidden tunnels of Fort Frederick & Fort Matthew. After hitting a local bakery and tasting some rum we roll to the beautiful Mt Carmel Falls. Then we get to the 2nd biggest city in Grenada, Grenville, to try some classic oldschool flavor ice. We stop for lunch at a new and hot restaurant called Dre Flavors for some seafood and roti, drive all the way north to the local sunday hotspot Bathway Beach, and end with an insanely beautiful sunset (and almost as good Celine Dion karaoke) at Duquesne beach back on the west coast. Thanks large to my amazing hosts Kitaka, Emily, Zingy , Rhion, Ninqi, Krishana, and baby Ifa!
Bless up,
Matthew

Caribbean Rum…🤯🥃
This rum is not for the faint hearted - but taking a tour of the oldest distillery on the island - River’s Rum - has to be on your Grenada itinerary! 🇬🇩
To get there by public transport simply hop on a No. 6 or 2 bus to Grenville ($6 EC pp) then take a No. 9 bus to the end of the line in La Poterie ($5 EC pp).
It’s less than a 15 minute walk from there, but if you ask the driver will likely drop you up there for a few extra dollars 👍🏼
How incredible is that water wheel?! ⚙️💦

HITCHHIKING IN GRENADA 🇬🇩
HITCHHIKING TO GRENADA’S BEST WATERFALL 😍🇬🇩!
-
There are lots of waterfalls on this little island and a hand full are really famous and are therefore constantly flooded by people getting off the big cruise ships. Imagine 100+ people trying to walk to a waterfall and you trying to overtake 😂😮💨.
That’s why we asked some locals for a more hidden gem and we were told to go and find Mt Carmel Falls on the eastern side of the island. 😌
Since there was no path on our offline maps leading there, we had to ask some locals but in the end managed to take a shower under these magnificent falls that we had all to ourselves.
-
👉 Insider Tip: In Grenada and other parts of the Carribean, there are often local teenagers pretending to be security at the entrance of sights and charging you money even though the sights are free 😅!
You got two options:
1️⃣ Pay them a few dollars and they’ll leave you alone and “protect” you while smoking joints
2️⃣ Argue with them for 10 minutes until other locals come and tell them to let you pass
Guess which option we chose! 😂

Would you do this?! Natural Spa at River Sallee Boiling Springs #grenada Grenada 🇬🇩
Visiting these supphir springs in Grenada was of our favourite days so far on the island! 🇬🇩
To get there jump on a No.6 bus from St George's to Grenville, then a No.9 buses up to River Sallee. It's just a short walk from there.
Journey time: Under 2 hours
Cost: $6 EC + $5 EC per person
The entrance is free, but to have the mud mask, exfoliation & moisturising treatment we did, you simply pay what you think it's worth at the end. How cool is that?!
Be sure to save this post for later!

The Best Waterfall in #Grenada | Hiking to Seven Sisters Falls 💦🇬🇩 #caribbean
📍Seven Sisters Waterfall
To get there jump on a No.6 bus from St George's to Grenville, it’ll drop you right by the entrance.
Journey time: 30 minutes
Bus Cost: $5 EC per person
Entrance Fee: $5 EC per person
It’s also just 5-10 minutes down the road from Grand Etang Lake so you can visit both!
Alternatively if you’re visiting Grand Etang Lake first you can either walk from there or jump back on another bus - it’s just 5-10 minutes down the road.
As you approach there’s an office where you pay & collect a walking stick (don’t forget to drop it back off) then it’s around a half hour hike from there.
The route is through the rainforest & it gets quite muddy & slippy so (unlike us) wear appropriate footwear - hiking sandals that can get wet are ideal!

You’ll Never Believe What We Find?! | Awesome Things To Do In Grenada
Hello again from the Spice Isle! In this week’s episode we’re taking you with us on some of our favourite things to do in Grenada. We begin with a boat trip and snorkelling adventure to seek out Grenada’s underwater sculpture park.
We booked this tour with Epiphany Cruises:
Then try out the natural outdoor spa that is River Sallee Boiling Springs which was such a treat! You simply have to come and do this if you come to Grenada.
We also take a water taxi to uninhabited Hog Island, visit another new beach at True Blue and do some exploring in Grenada’s second city, Grenville. Oh and while there we find the best Bus Up Shot on the island. Not sure what it is? You’ll just have to watch to find out!
We also find more delicious food at the Container Park and get our hike on in Grand Etang National Park. And manage to pack in visiting not one but two waterfalls; Mount Carmel Falls and Seven Sisters Falls.
It’s such an action packed week - let us know in the comments what was your favourite activity that we did.
And if you haven't already, don’t forget to like, subscribe and ding the alarm bell thing so you get notified everytime we post a new video!
