High Shoals Falls | The Best Hikes In Georgia | Best waterfall hikes in Georgia | Hiking Hiawassee
High Shoals Falls and Blue Hole Falls is a great hike right outside of Helen, GA in the Chattahoochee National Forest. The trail is 2.4 miles round trip with two of the most beautiful waterfalls to view at the end of the trail. There are camping areas along the trail. The trail and the waterfalls are all just beautiful. The trail is dog friendly. It is a relatively moderate hike. Our only two precautions are that once on the road to the trail head you have to cross a stream in your vehicle. We crossed it in a Nissan Versa and it was fine but the first time we went to this trail we did not feel comfortable crossing and walked the road to the trail head and that added considerable time to our hike along with the majority of it being straight up. Our second precaution is that there was a bridge to cross the creek but it was damaged by a storm so you will have to walk through the creek to continue on the trail.

Day Trip to Marble Falls 🍰 (FULL EPISODE) S6 E2
THROWBACK EPISODE - This episode originally aired on PBS on October 6, 2014. Some of the locations may have changed. Check for the most up-to-date information.
EPISODE FIELD NOTES:
Most know this town as a quaint, laid-back Hill Country berg with one of the most-famous pie joints in all of Texas. While that’s all good and true, there’s another side to this Highland Lakes town -- an adrenaline-pumping adventure hidden just below the surface.
Back in the day, things could get rough. Outside of town there’s a limestone cave known as “Dead Man’s Hole” where outlaws dumped the bodies of Union sympathizers they killed during the Civil War. Legend has it, if you peak inside you might just find a ghosty or two…
If it’s art you’re looking for then look no further. Downtown is full of incredible artwork on every corner, galleries aplenty and lots of places to express your own artsy self. My favorite gallery is the Highland Arts Guild and Gallery full of the works of artists from surrounding counties.
Don’t miss visiting this gallery where Dan and his wife will show you his incredible bronze sculptures of towering horses and men so lifelike, it’s hard to believe he made them out of clay. Dan can take you through the entire process of turning works of clay into lasting metal works of art.
After taking in all the art and adventure, you’re bound to need an afternoon snack, and Blue Bonnet Cafe is the perfect place to grab a slice of oh-so-creamy homemade pie. And if you stop in any day between 3-5 p.m., you will get a slice o’ pie and a drink for $4! They’ve also got the best comfort food around.
Downtown you’ll also find R-Bar & Grill, the Southwest-meets-Mexican grill where they smoke their own fajita meat and pork that’s good on ANYTHING – salads, tacos, your arm… You can get all your Texas faves from Chicken Fried Steak and giant burgers to enchiladas and nachos — and it’s all AMAZING.
Then there’s Double Horn Brewing Company, an amazing brew pub with everything you need to unwind after a long day of trippin’: hoppy beers and hand-crafted food. Everything on their menu is good, but I really recommend the Bison burger topped with bacon, bleu cheese, and buffalo sauce.
JOLLY RODGERS PADDLE CO.
Unfortunately, this attraction has closed since we aired this episode, but you can still hit the lake and you jump in at Lakeside Park or Johnson Park.
For adventure junkies, the next stop should be Hidden Falls Adventure Park, a 2,700 acre outdoor playground with trails for jeeps, dirt bikes and ATVs. If you don’t have your own, don’t worry — they’ll rent you one and set you loose. It is AMAZING.
If you’re looking for something really really CRAZY – contact the folks at Fly Texas who will take you HANG GLIDING above Lake LBJ. You’ll be comfortably pulled up to 2,000+ feet by a boat, and then cut loose so you can soar down for a landing on the water. It’s one of the most incredible things there is to do in the Lone Star State.

MAP OF LAKE LBJ [ TEXAS ]
hello my friends,. this is a map of lake LBJ. Lake Lyndon B. Johnson (more commonly referred to as Lake LBJ and originally named Lake Granite Shoals) is a reservoir on the Colorado River in the Texas Hill Country about 45 miles northwest of Austin. The reservoir was formed in 1950 by the construction of Granite Shoals Dam by the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA). The Colorado River and the Llano River meet in the northern portion of the lake at Kingsland.
The towns of Granite Shoals, Kingsland, Horseshoe Bay, Highland Haven, and Sunrise Beach are located on the lake. The boundary line separating Burnet County and Llano County runs down the center of the lake.
The lake was originally called Lake Granite Shoals. The dam would be renamed Wirtz Dam in 1952 for Alvin J. Wirtz, the first general counsel of the LCRA, and the lake was renamed to Lake Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965 in honor of US President Lyndon Baines Johnson. In addition to his work to enact the Rural Electrification Act that formed the basis for building the Texas Highland Lakes, President Johnson owned a ranch on the lake (which was separate and apart from the LBJ Ranch in Stonewall, Texas). He and Mrs. Johnson entertained national and foreign dignitaries on the lake during his vice presidency and presidency.
The other reservoirs on the Colorado River are Lake Buchanan, Inks Lake, Lake Marble Falls, Lake Travis, Lake Austin, and Lady Bird Lake. Lake LBJ along with Inks Lake and Lake Marble Falls are pass-through lakes for Lake Buchanan and Lake Travis. There is no room in Lake LBJ for additional water storage, and water that comes in must go out. Therefore, Lake LBJ is at a near constant level, but the level can fluctuate, especially during a flood. The LCRA lowers the lake periodically for maintenance on Wirtz Dam and to allow landowners to remove sediment around their docks.
Fish and wildlife populations.
Lake LBJ has been stocked with several species of fish intended to improve the utility of the reservoir for recreational fishing. Fish present in Lake LBJ include largemouth bass, white bass, catfish, and crappie. Lake LBJ is one of the Highland Lakes infested with hydrilla, a non-native aquatic plant species, and the LCRA is undergoing treatment to eradicate the hydrilla.
Lake LBJ just east of Kingsland.
Recreational uses.
Most of the property bordering Lake LBJ is privately owned. The Nightengale Archaeological Center at Kingsland is a unique educational park operated by the Lower Colorado River Authority that is adjacent to Lake LBJ. The lake is also home to Camp Champions, the only summer camp with property on the lake. The popularity of Lake LBJ is largely due to its normally constant level water which provides ideal conditions for boating, water skiing, riding personal water craft and other water sports.
Cooling water.
The lake provides cooling water for the Thomas C. Ferguson Power Plant that is located on its shores. thats all. thanks for listening please subscribe for the best maps and for the love of lake LBJ. good-bye. #lakelbj #maps #mapstudy #lbj

Hiking a HIDDEN TRAIL at the Most-Visited Attraction in Georgia | Stone Mountain Park Hiking Trails
Stone Mountain Park is the most-visited attraction in Georgia, and there are a lot of great hiking trails here. My favorite of all the Stone Mountain Park hiking trails is a hidden trail that takes you around the mountain, and most people do not know about it!
When most people come to Stone Mountain Park, they hike the walk-up trail or on the sidewalk near the road, but the Stone Mountain Cherokee Loop Trail has so much to see, including an abandoned chimney and views of the Stone Mountain Lake!
You should hike up, down, and around Stone Mountain as well! Like, save, and share this adventure with your friends!

This morning we left Memphis and headed out of Tennessee and into Alabama where we had time to explore the famous city of Muscle Shoals. Since the 1960s, the city has been known for music – developing the Muscle Shoals Sound, as local recording studios (including FAME Studios in the late 1950s and Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in 1969) produced hit records that shaped the history of popular music. We stopped off and explored the home where Elvis was born before spending the night along the shores of the mighty Tennessee River in this lively music and arts district.

Exploring the ABANDONED Redstone Granite Quarry (Conway, NH)
J-MASS INSTAGRAM: @jmassofficial
Join me as I explore the many ruins and remnants of a once thriving granite quarry town in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire: Redstone Granite Quarry, located right in the picturesque town of Conway, New Hampshire! While walking along Redstone Quarry Trail, you will come across many old and abandoned remnants of the granite mining and manufacturing operations that occurred here. Founded in 1884 by the Maine and New Hampshire Granite Company as a company town, the quarry operations continued and prospered well into the early to mid 20th century. The granite that was mined here, known for its distinct pinkish hue, would be used in the construction of many iconic buildings across the east coast of the United States. Eventually, the Redstone Granite Quarry would shut down and cease operations in 1948, leaving behind the many ruins we see today. These old ruins range from rusted machinery and equipment to shuttered shacks and buildings, all deteriorating with time and overtaken by nature. There are also hundreds of unused granite blocks and slabs scattered around the property, alluding to the production of the past.
This was my very first time exploring the historic remnants of the Redstone Granite Quarry, and I absolutely loved it! I am a big fan of history, urban exploration, and nature, and this location captured all three of these interests superbly! To visit each historic ruin, you follow along the scenic Redstone Quarry Trail, located at the base of Rattlesnake Mountain, traversing through the thick, lush forests of the White Mountains. Each specific ruin has a historical marker detailing any and all information about it, allowing you to truly enjoy and understand how the quarry operated. To me, visiting the Redstone Granite Quarry felt like stepping back in time to the late 1800s / early 1900s, as I was able to witness such old machinery that helped shape our society today through building blocks of granite. If you are a nature or history lover who finds themselves up in Conway, or the White Mountains in general, definitely check this place out! If you guys liked this video, make sure to stay tuned for more exploration videos all across New England!
Shout out to GoXplr for their article on the Redstone Granite Quarry: it is incredibly detailed, touching upon the rich history of the location and its significance with urban explorers today. Check out GoXplr's vast array of articles on other abandoned New England locations!

Droning Sankaty Lighthouse and Sankaty Golf Course, early on a clear Sunday morning in July 2018
Drone Footage of Sankaty Lighthouse Summer 2018. Very famous, both the lighthouse and the golf course. The shoals off the eastern coast of Nantucket had a long history as a hazard to navigation. The United States government decided in the 1840s that a prominent lighthouse should be erected to alert mariners to that hazard. Congress appropriated $12,000 for its construction in 1848, with additional funds totaling $8,000 in following years. The light went into service in February 1850.[2] The tower is 60 feet (18 m) high; its lower portion is constructed of brick, and its upper part is granite. The light's turning mechanism was powered by a weight-driven brass clockwork,
A brick house was built next to the tower at the time of its construction to house the light keeper's family.[2] In 1887 this house was torn down and a new structure was built.[3] Renovations to the tower at the time included installation of a new lantern section, adding some 10 feet (3.0 m) to its height.
In 1933 the light was electrified, and the mechanical works to turn it were taken out of service.[3] Its original lens was removed in 1950, and is now at the Nantucket Whaling Museum.[4] The light was fully automated in 1965.[2]
Sankaty Light at its current location. The former location is where the benches are
In 1987, the lighthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Sankaty Head Light. The Sconset Land Trust acquired the lighthouse in 2007, and had it moved away from the eroding bluff (approximately 400 feet (120 m)) in October of that year.[2]
ankaty Head Golf Club is one of the Eastern-most golf courses in Massachusetts, perched on the edge of Nantucket Island in Siasconset, Massachusetts. The course was designed by Emerson Armstrong and opened in 1923. It is one of the few examples of world-class links-style golf outside of the UK (see Shinnecock Hills). The Atlantic wraps around 270 degrees of the layout and the famous Sankaty Head Lighthouse looms over the front nine. The Head Professional is Mark Heartfield.
Sankaty members are a driving force behind the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund. They also have successfully sustained one of the few remaining caddy camps in the world, Camp Sankaty Head, which has existed since the late 1930s. Membership is private, but the public is allowed to play in the off-season (October–May) for a fee. Famous members include Jack Welch (whose island residence is just off the 4th tee-box), Bob Wright, Harry Fraker, Larry Bossidy, Amos Hostetter, Henry C. Pfaff, and Bill Belichick.

Great Falls, North Carolina -- 4K Cinematic
Great Falls is an absolutely stunning waterfall in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, in the Nantahala National Forest. Due to the location of these falls, they are on private property. We were able to communicate with the property owner to allow us access on this particular day. We had to sign an NDA about sharing the location, GPS coordinates, address, and other things that could tip off where these beautiful falls are, so I apologize for the lack of information on this one. Once again, THIS IS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY WITH PERMISSION. I CAN NOT SHARE THE LOCATION OF THESE FALLS.
