COTE D’IVOIRE - Today we’re making our way down the Atlantic coast of Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) to eat some of the best seafood along the way!
A huge thank you to my friend Mo Soumahoro from Belle Côte d’Ivoire ( for arranging my trip and setting up everything!
Chez Miss Zahoui ( - We’re starting this Ivorian food tour in Abidjan to eat one of the most famous foods in all of Cote d’Ivoire - acheke (Attiéké), made from cassava. It’s one of the national dishes and something that nearly everyone eats - and today we’ll be eating a lot of it. We’re starting with Ivorian fish fry at Chez Miss Zahoui, with acheke, and lots of fresh chili sauces.
Grand-Lahou ( - The next day we continued our journey to Grand-Lahou an island or peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean. We were hosted by Mr Niamba and his family of the Avikam tribe. Along with many local seafood dishes, they cooked a delicacy and rarely seen dish - African catfish cooked for two days!
San-Pedro ( - We continued to San-Pedro where we viisted the local fish market and saw the fresh catch of the day. Then we met up with Chef Grace Emmanuella of Enotel Beach San-Pedro who cooked Soup du pêcheur’ (Fisherman’s soup) with the fresh fish, lobster, and slipper lobster directly from the fish market.

Grand Bereby en Côte d'ivoire
Grand-Béréby est une ville de l'ouest de la Côte d'Ivoire proche du Libéria, dans le département de San-Pédro. La ville, située à 9°32 de latitude nord et 6°29 de longitude ouest, fait partie de la Région du Bas-Sassandra. La ville est équipée d'un immense complexe hôtelier, la Baie des Sirènes qui accueille les touristes friands de pêche au large. Mais aussi des tours aériens car grand Bereby dispose de deux pistes d’attérissage. Le village de Boubélé, situé à 60 km vers l'ouest, en direction de Tabou est spécialisé dans la pêche sportive. On y traque la carpe rouge, le barracuda, le maquereau-bonite, la carangue, la raie, le marlin et les requins qui abondent dans cette région. Dans le village de Tabaoulé, se trouve de beaux spots avec le fameux jacuzzi naturel, creusé dans un rocher par la mer que vous trouverez dans cette vidéo. A weekend in Jacqueville, Cote D'Ivoire
Snippet from a weekend spent in Jacqueville, Cote D'Ivoire, about 2 hours away from Abidjan.
Jacqueville is a town in Cote D'Ivoire with a lagoon (Ebrié) on one side and the sea on the other. After spending the day by the beach, we made it to our eco-hotel, Kafolo Jacqueville, on the lagoon. One of the most serene places I've stayed by far: most, if not all, the rooms have a view of the lagoon. The property's verdant landscape means you'll wake up to the sound of countless chirping birds, as well as the gentle waves of the lagoon.
You can hike through the coconut groves, paddle or canoe on the lagoon, or be like me and exert as little energy as possible by floating in the lagoon and enjoying a good book in one of the hammocks.
