Gorleston-on-Sea Beach and Seafront - British Seaside VIDEO TOUR (Norfolk, UK)
I had never heard of Gorleston-on-Sea before, but I searched Google Maps for arcades and it brough me here! lol! Not much to see as far as arcades go, but I thought I would check out the town while visiting! I liked the small pond where the small motor boats are, unique!
--------
Gorleston-on-Sea, known colloquially as Gorleston, is a settlement in Norfolk, England, to the south of Great Yarmouth. Situated at the mouth of the River Yare it was a port town at the time of the Domesday Book. The port then became a centre of fishing for herring along with salt pans used for the production of salt to preserve the fish. In Edwardian times the fishing industry rapidly declined and the town's role changed to that of a seaside resort.

Gorleston-on-Sea Walk: Town Centre & Beach【4K】
Located on the east coast of England, in the county of Norfolk, and around 20 miles east of Norwich, is the town of Gorleston-on-Sea, commonly referred to locally as, simply, Gorleston.
Geographically, Gorleston is situated along the west bank of the River Yare at its mouth where it meets the North Sea. On the opposite side of the river is the larger settlement of Great Yarmouth. Historically it was part of the county of Suffolk. Then in 1832 a merger took place with Great Yarmouth for electoral purposes, and in 1835 it became part of the Borough of Great Yarmouth, and thus part of Norfolk.
Gorleston is speculated to have been inhabited since Roman times or possibly earlier. By the time of the Domesday Book of 1086, a busy port had been established here. Its location at the mouth of the River Yare made it ideally situated for salt pans which were used for curing herring.
By the 19th century, the fishing industry here had fallen into decline. By the late Victorian era and into the Edwardian period, Gorleston had reinvented itself as a seaside resort, following the lead of neighbouring Great Yarmouth. Its 3-mile-long sandy beach helps to draw in numerous visitors to this day.
At one point, three railway stations existed in the town, namely Gorleston-on-Sea and Gorleston North, both opening in 1903, and Gorleston Links, opening in 1914. These all formed part of the Yarmouth-Lowestoft Line. Gorleston North closed in 1942, while the remaining two closed in 1970 as part of the Beeching cuts - a controversial scheme to encourage road travel by closing over 2000 railway stations in Great Britain. Today, public transport to Gorleston consists of direct bus services from Norwich, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft among other nearby settlements.

Putting course in Gorleston-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth 3 of 6
A view of the Putting course in Gorleston-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth in May 2022.
One of the first places we visited on what would become our Crazy World of Minigolf Tour was Great Yarmouth in Norfolk. We chose the seaside resort for a big minigolf trip in 2007 as we knew there were a lot of courses there.
We've returned a number of times since then, including a trip in May to help launch the Big Mini Golf Tour 2022.
Minigolf has been played in the area since the early 20th century and there are plenty of options for a game in 2022. Check out the list of courses we currently know of in the Greater Yarmouth area on my blog at

I also take you for a walk along the clifftops and show you some spectacular views of the beach and seafront from the very top. There are some sports areas nearby including a golf course, bowling greens, basketball and tennis courts. There is also a trim trail and a children's park as well.
The Beatles film Yesterday (2019) was made here and thousands of extras took part in one of the scenes!
Gorleston On Sea was rewarded the number one beach in the UK in 2023 on TripAdvisor. It's also one of the best beaches in the world and was placed number 12 and overtook Weymouth and Bournemouth on the south coast.
Gorleston has a very clean beach and seafront which are taken care off very well all year round. At the end of the day Gorleston looks amazing in any season and weather!
