Driving in Historic Johnstown - New York, USA

Johnstown is a city in and the county seat of Fulton County in the U.S. state of New York. The city was named after its founder, Sir William Johnson, Superintendent of Indian Affairs in the Province of New York and a major general during the Seven Years' War in North America. It is located approximately 45 miles (72 km) northwest of Albany, about one-third of the way between Albany and the Finger Lakes region to the west, in the Mohawk Valley region, within the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains.

The city of Johnstown is mostly surrounded by the town of Johnstown, of which it was once a part when it was a village. Adjacent to Johnstown is the City of Gloversville. The two cities are together known as the Glove Cities due to their history of manufacturing gloves and other leather apparel. Gloversville and Johnstown together constituted the center of the American glove industry for 90 years until competition from other countries drove most of the manufacturers out of business.

My Travel to Upstate New York (What is a Hamlet?)

I had never heard of Meco, NY. It isn't exactly a big city. Actually, it's not even a town... Meco is a Hamlet within the town of Johnstown. What is a Hamlet? I have no clue. But when I left Manhattan to head upstate I found a new favorite brewery at Stump City Brewing and took a four-wheeler through the woods to have some Genesee Cream Ale at a bar called Concordia Club. I found that New York state has much more to offer than just New York City!

RR, an old steam engine (#1), a ?, ? & ?, red caboose, the Burroville Express (.10¢), the water tower, Huntingdon & Broad Top Mountain Railroad #38, Bath & Hammondsport #11, Grasse River caboose #71 (Perry's Pride), Speeder No. 11 - built from a White Bus, a sign that advertises for the Doc McGee Old Time Medicine Show featuring Chief Firewater's Snakebite Cure, kids on a handcar and rides by Dad, the Fonda Johnstown & Gloversville Railroad caboose, a quick shot of a steam engine fired up, inside of a passenger car, a former Brill electric combination passenger and baggage coach (#27), a B&H #11, a Western village facade.
