WESTERN SYDNEY AIRPORT Badgerys Creek - The Northern Road Upgrade - Glenmore Park To Oran Park

Driving from Glenmore Park to Oran Park during The Northern Road Upgrade around Western Sydney Airport Badgerys Creek on August 2020.

As part of the Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan, 35 km (21.7 mi) of The Northern Road will be upgraded to a minimum of four lanes between The Old Northern Road at Narellan and Jamison Road at South Penrith. The project is being delivered in six stages, with the first stage at Oran Park completed in April 2018. In April 2020, the Northern Road was also realigned between Mersey Road and Eaton Road at Luddenham, to facilitate the construction of Western Sydney Airport. On 16 July 2020, The Northern Road and Bringelly Road interchange opened on 16 July 2020, including a realignment of The Northern Road.

It is proposed that as part of economic development of western Sydney, including the construction of an airport at Badgerys Creek, the road would be upgraded to a grade separated motorway. The proposal, known as the M9 Outer-Western Sydney Orbital motorway, would link the M7 at Casula with the central coast via Camden, Penrith and Windsor.

Innes National Park - a Hidden Paradise - Dhilba Guuranda, South Australia.

Innes National Park also known by its traditional name of Dhilba Guuranda, is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located on the southwest tip of Yorke Peninsula about 300 kilometres (190 mi) west of the state capital of Adelaide.

Stenhouse Bay.
Stenhouse Bay was named after Andrew Stenhouse who was a principal of the Permasite Manufacturing Co Pty Ltd which held “leases for the harvesting of gypsum north of Cape Spencer.” Gypsum after being washed, roasted and ground, was used in the manufacturing of plaster of paris and cement. The quality of the gypsum in this area was exceptionally high class and most of Australia's needs were supplied from here.

Cape Spencer Lighthouse.
Cape Spencer Lighthouse is located on Cape Spencer gazetted locality of Inneston. The navigation aid was originally established as an automatic beacon which was first lit in late 1950, was established after a lengthy period of lobbying of the Australian government. The automatic beacon was replaced in 1975 by an automatic lighthouse facility. The short walk (approximately one hour return) to the Cape Spencer Lighthouse takes in spectacular views of the offshore islands.

Inneston village.
The historic Inneston village was once a thriving mining town in the early 1900's. The ruins of the abandoned gypsum town along the Inneston Historic Walk isa aery popular walk, starting from just inside the gate at the Inneston car park. Inneston Historic Walk is a four kilometre return walking trail taking approximately two hours. Be aware of unstable ruins and make sure you carry enough water. This well marked trail takes the visitor back to the gypsum-mining era from 1913 to 1930, where interpretive signs tell the story of the close-knit community of Inneston village. Inneston was completely self-sufficient, having its own school, post office, bakery, general store and tennis court. The lonely ruins stand proudly as a reminder of those bygone days.

Ethel shipwreck.
The Ethel shipwreck has been a landmark of southern Yorke Peninsula since it was wrecked in 1904. The 711 ton sailing vessel was heading to Port Adelaide from South Africa, when it ran aground. The next morning, the Ethel was found washed up on the beach. The Ethel is a popular attraction for tourists and photographers. Today, there isn’t much left of the vessel and the hull has totally collapsed. What’s left of the shipwreck lies mostly buried beneath sand but every now and then, stormy weather conditions with the massive high tides and huge swells, siphon the sand out to sea, exposing the wreck.

West Cape lighthouse.
West Cape lighthouse is one of a number of newer lights built in South Australia during the 1980s. It is also unusual in that it is built of stainless steel. The tower is 9 metres high and stands 67 metres above sea level. The light is solar powered and its light has a range of 22 kilometres.

Shell Beach (Blue Hole) rock pool .
A mermaid wouldn’t look out of place lolling about in the sun-drenched waters of the Yorke Peninsula’s Shell Beach (Blue Hole) rock pool. Follow the powdery-white sand along Shell Beach to your very own private seaside pool where crystal clear, sheltered waters on the edge of the Southern Ocean await. Tucked in the tip of the Yorke Peninsula, wait for low tide then dive into the secluded beachside rockpool and explore an underwater world of fish, coral, crabs and starfish.
