Leeds is a city in the northern English county of Yorkshire. On the south bank of the River Aire, the Royal Armouries houses the national collection of arms and artillery. Across the river, the redeveloped industrial area around Call Lane is famed for bars and live music venues under converted railway arches. Leeds Kirkgate Market features hundreds of indoor and outdoor stalls.
Leeds is a local government district of West Yorkshire, England, governed by Leeds City Council, with the status of a city and metropolitan borough. The metropolitan district includes the administrative centre Leeds and the ten towns of Farsley, Garforth, Guiseley, Horsforth, Morley, Otley, Pudsey, Rothwell, Wetherby and Yeadon.
The current city boundaries were set on 1 April 1974 by the provisions of the Local Government Act 1972, as part a reform of local government in England. The city is a merger of eleven former local government districts; the unitary City and County Borough of Leeds combined with the municipal boroughs of Morley and Pudsey, the urban districts of Aireborough, Garforth, Horsforth, Otley and Rothwell, and parts of the rural districts of Tadcaster, Wharfedale and Wetherby from the West Riding of Yorkshire.
For its first 12 years the city had a two-tier system of local government; Leeds City Council shared power with the West Yorkshire County Council. Since the Local Government Act 1985 Leeds City Council has effectively been a unitary authority, serving as the sole executive, deliberative and legislative body responsible for local policy, setting council tax, and allocating budget in the city, and is a member of the Leeds City Region Partnership. Thc City of Leeds is divided into 31 civil parishes and a single unparished area.

Places to see in ( Castleford - UK )
Castleford is a town in the metropolitan borough of Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England. Historically in the West Riding of Yorkshire, to the north of the town centre the River Calder joins the River Aire and the Aire and Calder Navigation.
Castleford is the site of a Roman settlement. Within the historical Castleford Borough are the suburbs of Airedale, Cutsyke, Ferry Fryston, Fryston, Glasshoughton, Half Acres, Hightown, Lock Lane, Wheldale and Whitwood. Castleford is home to the rugby league Super League team Castleford Tigers.
Queen’s Park in Castleford provides evidence of Roundhouses used by the Anglo Saxons. This was a strategic area due to the views of the entire settlement. The history of the area includes Oliver Cromwell’s encampment in nearby Knottingley and Ferrybridge (originally thought to be in Castleford itself) whilst his forces laid siege to Pontefract Castle.
Castleford is only 0.93 miles (1.5 km) away from the M62 at Junction 32 via the A656 road. It has other A roads that criss-cross the town and provide access to Junction 31 on the same motorway. The River Aire and the River Calder have a confluence just north west of the town and also feed the Aire and Calder Navigation. Whilst it is an industrial waterway, it also hosts tourism with moorings on the Castleford Cut of the Navigation.
Castleford also had a second service to Leeds that left eastwards and swung north onto the former Castleford to Garforth Line, which would see services calling at Ledston & Kippax, before arriving in Garforth and continuing to Leeds.

The Return to the Station where it all began
Back on the 16th January 2012 when SimOnTrains started vlooging. My first vlog featured a railway station in Yorkshire before the journey down to London, a place called Garforth but went to Garforth station and not East Garforth station. But Garforth was the very first location I took a journey to.
After watching Geoff Marshall's USA 2022 road trip, It decided it was time to head back to where it all began which was Garforth and not Moorgate!
Bit visiting the station of Micklefield, East Garforth, Garforth and Cross Gates seeing TransPennine Express, Northern and Cross Country Trains passing through this area in Yorkshire.

Garforth
An 8 to 10 mile walk in all sorts of terrian including tunnels mud streams, you name it we had it. but never the less it was a pleasent and easy walk
Trains at Garforth, 29/10/2022 (4K UHD)
Garforth is a small station located on the section of line between York and Leeds. Operated by Northern, this station also lies on a major corridor for intercity services in the north of the UK. Services can be seen by Northern, Transpennine Express and CrossCountry, all using a large variety of rolling stock.
I filmed here for around an hour, but managed to get plenty of footage, even on a Saturday. This station is not to be underestimated. Views to the east of the station are great, but the bridge and a sharp curve at the western end makes it somewhat difficult to predict when trains will be passing through!
My next video will be a video diary of my 41-hour trip from Japan to the UK.
Enjoy the video :)

This is the hotel in Garforth LEEDS
SWILLINGTON: Leeds Parish #10 of 38
Historically the full title for today’s offering in Leeds included “-in-Elmet”, which refers to the association of the village with the region of Elmet which we’ve met previously. However, as with many other places the -in-Elmet has been lost in modern times with only a few exceptions such as Barwick-in-Elmet and Sherburn-in-Elmet surviving.
While some residents commute to the nearby cities of Leeds and Wakefield or the larger towns of Garforth or Rothwell many are able to make their livelihood here. The Astley Lane Industrial estate provides a good number of jobs in many different fields of industry and almost certainly, the village's biggest employer is the multinational, award winning, specialist lubricants manufacturer, Rocol.
It was once a coal mining village, though the pits were worked out and closed, some years before the industry itself was all but destroyed. There was also a brickworks, Hansons, which is now abandoned. Several streets are named after Sir John Lowther, better known as Lord Lowther, an English landowner and Member of Parliament.
Both Lord and Lady Lowther are buried in the graveyard of St Mary's Church, and speaking of the church, have you ever wondered why confetti is thrown at weddings? Thomas Dealtry, rector from 1872–1878, is credited with having introduced the habit of throwing confetti, from his observation of rice thrown at Hindu weddings in his previous position as Archdeacon of Madras
There’s the second most Northerly vineyard in the UK here too and for some strange reason, the boundaries include Woodlesford Lock. Otherwise the unparished area of Woodlesford lies to the South of the village of SWILLINGTON.
