The city of Ghent is located in the northwest of Belgium, at the confluence of two rivers. During the Middle Ages, Ghent was a wealthy and prominent city-state mainly due to the manufacturing of cloth made from English wool. Today, it’s a university town and cultural hub full of amazing architecture, such as the 12th-century Gravensteen castle. Located directly across from each other on opposite sides of the river, these two quays are part of the medieval port that hosted ships since the 11th century.

Charlotte Walking Tour and Wells Fargo Museum | 10K Road Trip Vlog Day 29
I know what you're thinking, but that Wells Fargo History Museum was SO MUCH FUN. And FREE. And the historic walking tour around Uptown Charlotte was interesting and worthwhile too.
This is Day 29 of our 10,000 mile road trip across the US.
We started Charlotte's historic walking tour at the center of uptown, the intersection of Trade and Tryon, with bronze statues that represent Charlotte's past and future. We wandered around to find a statue of the city's namesake, Queen Charlotte. We also explored some parks, walked by the Knights' and Panthers' Stadiums, and explored the oldest Catholic Parish in Charlotte.
But for us, the highlight of the visit was the Wells Fargo History Museum. I know, it sounds cheesy, and maybe it is, but we LOVED IT. It's fully interactive and so interesting. You get to play with so much stuff! Well done, Wells Fargo. Well done.
Note: Remember that the museum is closed on Sunday and Monday. We did the walking tour on Monday but went back in on Tuesday morning because we had to do the museum. But if you're there on any other day, you can do this all in a few hours, no problem.

📍 We just typed Theodore Roosevelt Island in the GPS and it pops right up.
This island is accessed from the Mount Vernon Trail along George Washington Memorial Parkway.
🥾 To get to the Theodore Roosevelt statue it is about a 5-10 walk from the bridge.
🟢Difficulty: Easy
🦽 I saw some strollers on the trail. I believe you have make it to the statue with a stroller or wheelchair.
🦮 Dogs allowed on a leash
🅿️ The parking is small and fills up pretty quick. We were able to find parking without a problem and we arrived around 9:30am when we were leaving around 11:00 there was a line of cars waiting for a parking space.
🚻 There are porta potties at the end of the parking lot right before you go on the bridge to the island. There is also a bathroom in the middle of the island but it’s been locked when we have visited.

📌The Theodore Roosevelt statue is maybe a quarter of a mile from the bridge but there’s a trail that loops around the island. Most of the trail has a boardwalk and I seen a few strollers along the trail. Super easy trail! The trail is 1.8 miles.
