Montespertoli - Lucardo
Il borgo di Lucardo si trova nel comune di Montespertoli. Le sue origini sono antiche e pare che nel periodo longobardo avesse un distretto molto ampio, al pari di quello di Firenze. Il castello si trova all'apice della collina e conserva di originale sicuramente la porta di accesso. La collina di 422 metri s.l.m. nonostante non sia una montagna è il posto più elevato di tutta la zona e praticamente da lì al mare non ci sono colline più alte quindi la vista spazia ad ovest per mezza Toscana. I panorami che si godono dalla cresta della collina di Lucardo sono due e ben diversificati: ad ovest, come ho detto, spazia in lontananza con in primo piano l'ampia Valdelsa, ove si scorge Montespertoli e i vari luoghi del suo comune come i castelli di Poppiano, di Sonnino e la villa di Aliano, oltre a molte frazioni; a est invece il paesaggio è totalmente diverso con la Val di Pesa, o meglio, la Valle del Virginio, affluente della Pesa, che si mostra raccolta in una sorta di anfiteatro in cui a corona si affacciano il castello di Santa Maria Novella, Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, in lontananza San Donato in Poggio, e poi la pieve di San Pancrazio e San Casciano in Val di Pesa con la sua torre panoramica.
La chiesa parrocchiale è dedicata ai santi Martino e Giusto e possedeva un piccolo capitolo di canonici, per questo era definita canonica ed era sottoposta alla pieve di San Pancrazio. Però in origine erano due parrocchie, o popoli come si diceva, una di San Martino e una di San Giusto. Nel video mostro alcune case che compongono la parrocchia mettendo in sovraimpressione gli antichi nomi che avevano e che corrispondevano ai nomi dei poderi. Essi si snodavano lungo il crinale della collina e poi il confine parrocchiale scendeva sul versante est fino a lambire il Virginio. Là in basso, presso il Virginio non c'era nell'antico un podere, ma una fornace e in questo luogo in tempi recenti è sorto una frazione che prende il nome di Fornacette.
