【北イタリアの小さな町のお城】あまり知られていないモデナのすぐ近くフォルミジネ城／not many people know Castle of Formigine near Modena
いつも動画をご覧いただきありがとうございます。
今回は、モデナと私の町フィオラノの中間のフォルミジネ（Formigine)にあるお城のガイドツアーに参加した時の様子です。

このお城の敷地内、お庭の部分には、お城ができるよりもずっと前に存在していた教会の跡が見られます。
紀元10世紀頃に、教会横に集落が存在していたことが調査によりわかっています。
動画内では、ピオ家が城を築いたとしていますが、実際は12世紀にモデナ市が築城し、それを15世紀にピオ家が、現在のかたちにした様です。
その後はまた1599ー1648にはまたエステ家が所有し、その後カルカニーニ家へ、そして1940にフォルミジネの町が所有者となりました。
第二次大戦中、北西の方は爆撃の被害が大きく、2006年までの大掛かりな修復で現在のかたちになりました。南や東の部分には、被害を受けず元の形が残っている部分もあります。
時計よりも高い位置は、2012年の大地震後は見学できない様になっているとのことでした。
お城の敷地内、お庭の部分は自由に入れます。
お城の中にはレストラン、エノテカ（ワインバー）があり、素敵な雰囲気の中美味しい地元の料理やワインが楽しめますよ。

フォルミジネの町は大きくはありませんが、活気のある町です。
お城の前の広場では、よく様々なイベントが開催されています。
モデナからも電車一本で来れ、お城は駅からすぐの場所にあるので、アクセスもいいですよ。

I took a guided tour of the castle in Formigine, halfway between Modena and my town Fiorano.

In the garden area of the castle, the remains of a church that existed long before the castle was built can be seen.
Research has shown that a settlement existed next to the church around the 10th century AD.
It was built in the 12th century by the city of Modena, and then in the 15th century by the Pio family, who modified it its present form.
It was then owned by the Este family again between 1599 and 1648, then by the Carcagnini family, and in 1940 by the town of Formigine.
During World War II, the north-western part of the castle was severely damaged by bombing and was extensively restored to its present form until 2006. Some parts to the south and east were not damaged and remain in their original form.
The area higher than the clock has been closed to visitors since the earthquake of 2012.
The garden areas are free to enter.
There is a restaurant and enoteca (wine bar) in the castle, where you can enjoy delicious local food and wine in a lovely atmosphere.

The town of Formigine is not large, but it is a lively town.
Various events are often held on the square in front of the castle.
It is only one train ride away from Modena and the castle is just a short distance from the station.

【How to book a visit to the castle】
You can visit inside of the castle by taking a guided tour.
Guided tours depart at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm and 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
I recommend to book in advance to be sure.

Guided tour costs €4 / adult.
Guided tours are possible on weekdays if you make a reservation, but if there are less than 15 people, an additional fee of 25 euro is required in addition to the normal fee.
【How to get from Modena to Formigine by a train】
From Modena train station, take a local train to Sassuolo (less than 30 minutes), the seventh stop is Formigine.
Fare: €2.90 (as of April 2022).
From Formigine train station, the castle is 3-4 minutes walk.

The portico of St. Luke, with its 3,796 meters long, seems to be the longest porch in the world. The arcades of Bologna are an important architectural and cultural heritage for the city and are a symbol along with numerous towers. There is not another city in the world that has as many porches Bologna: all together arcades measured in length more than 38 km just in the historical center, reaching 53 km counting those outside the city. Because of their artistic and cultural significance, the arcades of Bologna are a cultural Italian candidate as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The porches were born in the late Middle Ages to stand up to the strong increase of the population, mainly due to the arrival of students and scholars at the University of Bologna, but also the migration from the countryside. The need to increase the living spaces led at first to increase airspace extending the upper floors of the houses with the creation of the jetties in the wood supported by the extension of the supporting beams of the floor and - in case of strong projection - from shelves called Beccadelli . By the time the jetties increased in size, and it was necessary to build support columns from the bottom because it collapsed, and was thus created the arcades. Born in an almost spontaneous, the arcades were offering shelter from the weather and sun, allowing you to travel the roads in all weather conditions. Furthermore, were also a means for the expansion of commercial activities and crafts, and made it better habitable ground floors, isolating them from dirt and sewage in the streets. The massive expansion of the arcades occurred since 1288, when a notice of the City stated that all new homes must be built with the porch, while the existing ones that were lacking were required to add, to the owner leaving the burden of maintenance, but ensuring the City public use of the soil. The notice specified that these had to be at least seven feet tall Bolognese (2.66 meters) wide and equally, to allow the transit of a man on horseback. These guidelines, however, were not observed in the poorest areas, where the arcades were built with much lower heights. The statutes of 1352 imposed a height and a depth of 10 feet (3.60 meters) for new buildings. In principle the arcades were made of wood, then, following a decree issued March 26, 1568 by the papal governor Msgr. Giovanni Battista Doria and Gonfaloniere Camillo Paleotti, were converted brick or stone. Despite that still survive in the city some buildings with wooden porch, some dating back to medieval times, other restored at the beginning of the twentieth century. In the second half of the sixteenth century appeared some of the most important-arcades loggia of Bologna: the porch supports and hides the church of St. Bartholomew and St. Gaetano in the street Major, by Andrea da Formigine, the loggia of the Palazzo del Monte in via Galliera. Some noble families of the city, however, wanted to stand out and follow the so-called Roman fashion and therefore asked the pantry to avoid building their homes with porch. This is why in Bologna Renaissance palaces were built without porch, such as palaces Davia-Bargellini, Fantuzzi, Bevilacqua, Bentivoglio. A famous example is House Islanders in Strada Maggiore. The portico, supported by high wooden beams (about 9 meters) was built around 1250. It is one of the few surviving examples of civil construction Bolognese thirteenth century and is Romanesque - Gothic. The beams are oak and support the projection of the third floor of the building. Other examples of medieval wooden porches are those of the house and the houses opposite Grassi in via Marsala, home Azzoguidi in via San Niccolò and home Ramponesi Via del Carro. The Renaissance leaves Bologna various examples of architecture of the time, such as the side porch of the church of San Giacomo Maggiore in via Zamboni, the palace Bolognini-Islanders and houses Beccadelli in Piazza Santo Stefano, the arches decorated with floral palace Podesta and the high porch of Bastardini in via D'Azeglio, so called because it was located under his times, until 1797, the orphanage in the city.
Castello di Moniga - Lago di Garda
Come la maggior parte dei Borghi della Valtenesi, Moniga del G.da ha il suo Castello, simile agli altri per la pianta e le strutture murarie, ma molto meglio conservato.
La ragione di questa buona conservazione sta nel fatto che la sua funzione non era difensiva, ma di rifugio in particolari situazioni di pericolo.
Il castello si trova nella parte occidentale dell'abitato, su una leggera altura, non come altre costruzioni simili, che sono costruiti sul ciglio di una scarpata, ma sulla strada che collega alcuni dei castelli circostanti.
Forse per la sua posizione poco strategica non ha mai ospitato l'abitazione di un Signore, cosa che gli ha risparmiato assalti di conquista, preservandolo da profonde trasformazioni architettoniche.
Il castello venne edificato nel X secolo per difendere la popolazione dalle invasioni degli Ungari.

The Part 2 of this VLOG comes to you from the Italian city of Carpi which is the very city that i grew up in. In this video I'm at Piazza Dei Martiri which is the Carpi city square and was constructed around the 16th century.
The 3 main attractions at this Piazza are :
1. Castello dei Pio (Pio Castle) which was constructed around the 16th century by the then rulers of Carpi (The Pio family) hence the name.
2. Duomo di Carpi (The Carpi Cathedral) which was also constructed around the 16th century.
3. Teatro comunale di Carpi (The community theatre of Carpi) which was constructed around the late 1800's.
Carpi is roughly 200km's south of Milan and Malpensa Airport , roughly 200Km's south west of Venice and around 150 Km's north of Florence.
