The best place to overlook the Harbour in Valletta. Stunning views in a beautiful setting.

► 1:45 You can watch the noon gun that is fired from the Saluting battery from above in the garden.12pm and 4PM

Nice gardens complimentary less visited by tourists than his bigger brother with a view of the War Memorial and Harbour.

In Naxxar, Malta, opposite the church, you find the Palazzo Parisio, an antique nobleman's residence, fully re-decorated and re-furnished around 1900 in a rather baroque, palacial style.

The gardens are superb, well maintained in a formal, French style in the first half, while the second half contains a large pond surrounded by (real) fruit trees.

The Gardens are lovely to wander in and have a great selection of citrus fruit and bougainvillea.

AVOID MALTA IN 2023 - It's Not What You Think 🇲🇹

Just an honest video of what's it like in St. Paul's Bay - Bugibba & Qawra in Malta. This video represents my personal opinion, plus the presented state of things here. Sustainability levels of this island are becoming exhausted.

St. Paul's Bay, Malta is a local council consisting of Bugibba, Qawra and St. Paul's Bay residential areas. Full of shops, restaurants, hotels and couple of local seafood stores. It is also the most populated town in Malta, and the town with most of the construction works after St. Julian's and Sliema.

Itinerary + Tips - Gozo & Comino (Malta)

Gozo:
- Walk or drive to the Salt Pans
- Visit Wied Il-Ghasri
- Go to Victoria city Centre for Gozo - explore the town and check out St George's Basilica and the Citadel
- Sanap Cliffs - recommend sunset but check out these dramatic cliff drops and amazing scenery - recommend downloading a hiking app just to make sure you find right trail!
- Ramla Bay has beautiful orange sand, you can hike up to the cave called Tal-Mixta
- Food - we recommend Casa Vostra (highly rated) and Greens Suppermarket if you want a cheap option

Comino:
- Either get the ferry from Malta or if you are staying in Gozo, alternatively there a ton of organised boat trips available
- the island is small so do not expect restaurants or other facilities, it can get really crowded so we recommend walking to a beach on the other side of the island called Santa Maria Bay - and you may have the entire beach just to yourself!

Floriana is located just outside the capital of Malta, Valletta. The origin of Floriana dates back to 1634, when the great master de Paul, sensing another attack by the Ottoman Turks, brought the Italian engineer Pietro Paolo Floriani, who built new fortifications in the city. And that's where Floriana got its name. Originally conceived as a suburb of Valletta, Floriana developed into an independent city. It covers an area of 133 hectares and has a population of about 2,600 people. Floriana is an administrative center that houses the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Infrastructure, and the Main Police Headquarters. Tourist attractions are:
Argoti Gardens, Portes des Bombes, Church of Saint Publius, Granaries, Mall Gardens, Vignacourt Water Tower, Sarria Church.

Floriana Gardens and Railway Station, Malta

The area that is today occupied by the town of Floriana was fortified in the early 17th century to strengthen the defences of the capital city Valletta. The bastions and fortifications were designed by the Italian military engineer Pietro Paolo Floriani and were called the Floriana Lines. The city that grew within during the reign of Grandmaster Antonio Manoel de Vilhena (1722-1736) was named Borgo Vilhena in the Grandmaster's honour. However the residents preferred to continue to call their town Floriana (Maltese: Furjana) and this is the name that endured. The open spaces and gardens of Floriana were conceived as a recreational area for the Knights outside of the City of Valletta. Today Floriana is endowed with several public and historical gardens. Many are located above or within the bastions overlooking the Grand Harbour in the east or Marsamxett Harbour in the west. Floriana also boasts several historic fountains including the Tritons Fountain, just outside Valletta, the Lion Fountain (1728) in St. Anne Street and the Wignacourt Fountain that was moved to St. Philip Gardens from St. George Square (Main Guard) in Valletta. Among the more impressive monuments in Floriana are the statue of Christ The King (1913) by the famous Maltese sculptor Antonio Sciortino, located in The Mall just in front of the Phoenicia Hotel, The War Memorial within the roundabout at the end of St. Anne Street, the Vilhena Monument near the Granaries and the Monument to Pietro Paolo Floriani. This video starts at The Mall promenade and visits the Granaries, the Commonwealth Air Forces Memorial garden, Vilhena Gardens, Sir Luigi Preziosi Gardens, King George V Garden, Herbert Ganado Gardens, St. Philip Gardens, Argotti Botanical Gardens, Sa Maison Garden Tal-Milorda and the Msida Bastion Historic Garden (Garden of Rest). One little known fact is that the Maltese patriot Mikiel Anton Vassalli is believed to have been buried in this cemetery. This video also visits Floriana's underground Victorian railway station (12:35), that was opened to the public for the first time since the War on just one day, 23rd October 2011 and also takes an unusual peep inside the Wignacourt Water Fountain (1615), that was also open to the public.
The video was shot mostly during November 2011.
Music: Beethoven's Piano Concerto No 5 Emperor, Mvt 1 and extract of Mvt 2, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Zubin Mehta, Alfred Brendel

Welcome to our video on the top things to do in Valletta, Malta. Valletta, the capital city of Malta, is a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant cultural scene. Here are some of the best places to visit and activities to enjoy in Valletta.

Start your journey at St. John’s Co-Cathedral, a masterpiece of Baroque architecture. This 16th-century cathedral features elaborate interiors, gilded decorations, and stunning works of art, including Caravaggio’s famous painting, “The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist.”

Explore the Upper Barrakka Gardens, offering panoramic views of the Grand Harbour and the Three Cities. This beautiful public garden is the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or a picnic while enjoying the scenic vistas. Don’t miss the daily cannon firing at noon from the Saluting Battery below.

Visit the Grandmaster’s Palace, once the residence of the Grand Masters of the Order of St. John and now the seat of the President of Malta. The palace houses the Palace Armory, showcasing an extensive collection of armor and weapons, and the State Rooms, adorned with tapestries and historical artifacts.

Discover the National Museum of Archaeology, located in the Auberge de Provence. The museum features a fascinating collection of artifacts from Malta’s prehistoric period, including the famous “Sleeping Lady” figurine and the “Venus of Malta.”

Wander through the narrow streets of Valletta to admire its historic buildings and charming atmosphere. Stop by the Auberge de Castille, one of the most impressive Baroque buildings in the city, which now serves as the office of the Prime Minister of Malta.

Enjoy a performance at the Manoel Theatre, one of the oldest working theatres in Europe. This intimate and beautifully preserved theatre hosts a variety of performances, including opera, drama, and concerts, offering a glimpse into Malta’s rich cultural heritage.

Take a boat tour of the Grand Harbour to see Valletta from a different perspective. Enjoy the stunning views of the city’s fortifications, historic buildings, and the picturesque waterfront. Boat tours are a great way to learn about Valletta’s maritime history and appreciate its beauty.

Visit Fort St. Elmo, a star-shaped fort that played a crucial role in the Great Siege of Malta in 1565. The fort houses the National War Museum, where you can learn about Malta’s military history and its strategic importance in the Mediterranean.

Explore the colorful and bustling Valletta Waterfront, lined with restored 18th-century warehouses that now house restaurants, cafes, and shops. It’s a great place to enjoy a meal, relax with a drink, or simply take in the lively atmosphere.

Experience the Malta Experience, an audiovisual show that takes you through Malta’s 7,000-year history. Located near Fort St. Elmo, this informative and entertaining show is a great introduction to the island’s rich past and cultural heritage.

Best things to see in malta

The Argotti Botanical gardens is definitely one of the best things to see in Malta.
It was originally two privately separate gardens owned by the knight Don De Fonseca and Argote Gusman.
