Jago 280| Transiting in Chagcharan, the Capital of Ghur Province, Before Going to Herat

On the 148th day I continued my journey to Herat, the largest city in western Afghanistan.

This time we avoided hitchhiking due to a bad experience 2 days prior. We opted to take a van to Chagcharan for 500 Afghanis ($6) per person.

The journey continued along bad roads with barren views until we passed Dowlat Yar. Honestly, I started to get bored with the view on the road. The only animals visible were goats.

Ten kilometers east of Chagcharan, the car tire went flat and had to be replaced. I was worried whether there would be a repeat of what happened two days ago.

Luckily the driver managed to deftly replace the flat tire with a spare tire in less than 15 minutes. It seems the drivers here are used to changing car tires. I even noticed that this van has 2 spare tires.

After the tires were changed, we continued our journey and arrived in Chagcharan, the capital of Ghor Province. In this city the roads are paved.

Because we were a bit bored with the view here, we finally decided to continue by van to Herat. The journey took 20 hours and only stopped for prayer and meal times. The cost was 1200 Afghanis ($15) per person.

After 20 hours of travel, we arrived at Herat and rested. For tomorrow, I planned to explore Herat, the jewel of Khorasan.
