Hacienda de Cocoyoc Morelos | Haciendas en México
La hacienda fue construida junto con el trapiche aproximadamente en el año 1600 y fue bautizada como San José Cocoyoc, en el año 1698. En su momento fue considerada una de las más importantes de la región, por sus 148 hectáreas de riego, una casa, la capilla, el trapiche, y además, fue una de principales productoras de azúcar en el país.
La Hacienda Cocoyoc siguió creciendo y prosperando hasta que estalló la Revolución en 1910, cuando el líder agrario Emiliano Zapata estableció su cuartel general en la ciudad de Cuautla, declarando la guerra a todas las haciendas azucareras del país, lo que provocó que al final de la lucha agraria, las tierras de la Hacienda Cocoyoc fueran divididas entre los granjeros y campesinos.
En 1957, 68 hectáreas fueron adquiridas por un empresario, quien convirtió un aproximado de 28 hectáreas en el primer Hotel Resort de Morelos, y desde entonces fue conocido como El Paraíso de América, además hace honor al nombre del poblado de origen náhuatl Lugar de coyotes, porque a la entrada hay una escultura que representa al animal representativo de la zona y debajo de ella está escrita la palabra entre cortada Cocoyoc.

Esta importante edificación fue declarada como monumento histórico por el Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH), y es visitada por el turismo nacional e internacional debido a sus espectaculares áreas con historia y un estilo único colonial mexicano.
Además de gran vegetación, con sus frondosos árboles, cuenta con los acueductos conocidos como arcos de piedra, los cuales fueron construidos desde principios del siglo XIX, con el propósito de traer agua de fuentes cercanas para riego y con ello mover una rueda que formaba parte de la nueva maquinaria para la refinería de azúcar.
El hotel cuenta con 286 habitaciones y suites amuebladas al estilo colonial mexicano, con lo necesario para que tu tiempo de descanso sea placentero, asimismo, el lugar proporciona a sus huéspedes salas y salones, un campo de golf, y una capilla.
