The Stadspark is an approximately 140 hectare park in Groningen city. Its name means 'Citypark' and it was the initiative of Jan Evert Scholten. The construction work started in 1913 and took 13 years to finish. The park has been laid out in a low-lying, swampy peat area.
There are many different parts and areas with diverse vegetation. It is so big you might need a map to navigate it. One can easily get lost in the nature! Stadspark is the perfect place to enjoy a cold drink with friends and relax on the grass. Various events and festivals takes place in Stadspark, including performances by the Rolling Stones and Tina Turner. There are many sculptures and installations in the park and children often climb the monoliths. There is even a bamboo forest!

Flevoland is the youngest province in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It got its name from Lake Flevo, which is found in Roman sources. It is located in the central part of the country.
Capital
Lelystad is the provincial capital. The city got its name from Cornelis Lely, the developer of the Afsluitdijk dam, thanks to which the territory was drained.
Climate
The climate in the province is moderately warm. It is accompanied by relatively high rainfall. Here it is better to take an umbrella with you once again.
Nature
The landscape of the province is mostly flat. The most beautiful places can be considered tulip fields, which delight the eye even from a height of flight. Picturesque landscapes are worth looking for in the national parks of the province, on the territory of which vast deciduous forests have gathered and local protected representatives of the fauna live.
Main cities: Almere, Lelystad, Zewolde, Urk
Almere is the largest city in the province. It was rebuilt by 1976. Initially, in the plans of the administration of the country, the capital was supposed to become the economic center of Flevoland, but the proximity to Amsterdam made Almere economically successful. The city is of particular interest to tourists with its modern architecture; there are no ancient buildings to be found here.
The administrative center of the province - Lelystad - also cannot boast of ancient buildings. For many tourists, this city is not at all obvious to visit. However, on its territory you can find several attractions that can tell about the history of the kingdom. And 400 hectares of nature park will become an attractive place for a walk or a picnic.
The small town of Zewolde is famous for its large deciduous forest. Tourists come here to enjoy the natural art and picturesque scenery. Despite the fact that most of the city is devoted to agriculture, here you can find the famous naturist resort Flevo-Natuur with bungalows available for rent and camping.
Urk is a lively fishing village especially popular with water sports enthusiasts. Public transport arriving from other cities stops near the pier, where locals like to gather and take a leisurely stroll. The village itself consists of small, almost toy houses located on narrow streets.
What to see
For a unique shopping experience, Batavia Stade is worth a visit. This is a large outlet center, which has collected more than a hundred shops, cafes and restaurants, with a system of discounts from 30 to 70%. It is located in Lelystad.
If a trip to Flevoland falls in the spring, then it would be a real crime to miss a visit to the Crail tulip field. All sorts of varieties of the symbol of the Netherlands are planted in a space stretching 101 km. It is noteworthy that this province is still not the most popular in the country, so there is a great opportunity to take a nice photo without unnecessary in the frame.
With the kids, you should definitely go to the Walibi World amusement park, on the territory of which 5 different spectacular roller coasters have gathered.

Ons bezoek aan Paleis het Loo
Onlangs hadden een reis-conferentie in Ermelo en op de terugreis naar ons huis namen we even de tijd om Paleis Het Loo te bezoeken, gelegen in Apeldoorn, Nederland. Paleis Het Loo staat bekend om zijn prachtige architectuur en rijke geschiedenis als voormalige residentie van de koninklijke familie. Een mooie manier om weer wat meer te leren over de Nederlandse monarchie en het culturele erfgoed van ons land.
Ons bezoek aan Paleis Het Loo was een fascinerende en educatieve ervaring. Het paleis bood een kijkje in het leven van de koninklijke familie en gaf me een dieper begrip van de Nederlandse geschiedenis en cultuur. Meest opvallend waren de vertrekken waar de koninklijke familie leefde. De prachtige architectuur, weelderige tuinen en goed bewaarde interieurs in combinatie met de nieuw prachtig vormgegeven moderne entree maakten het bezoek zeer de moeite waard.
Een leuk uitstapje wat goed is te combineren met een mooie wandeling over de Veluwe en/of een bezoek aan het fantastische Kröller-Müller Museum.

Recently we had a travel conference in Ermelo and on our way back home we took some time to visit Paleis Het Loo, a Dutch palace located in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. Paleis Het Loo is known for its beautiful architecture and rich history as the former residence of the royal family. A great way to learn a little more about the Dutch monarchy and our country's cultural heritage again.
Our visit to Paleis Het Loo was a fascinating and educational experience. The palace offered a glimpse into the life of the royal family and gave me a deeper understanding of Dutch history and culture. Most striking were the rooms where the royal family lived. The beautiful architecture, lush gardens and well-preserved interiors combined with the new beautifully designed modern entrance made the visit very worthwhile.
A nice activity during your stay in the Netherlands and which can be combined well with a nice walk across the Veluwe and/or a visit to the fantastic Kröller-Müller Museum.

Dutch trip - From Ermelo to Hierden (Standard - Music)
Join me on a scenic bicycle ride from Ermelo to Castle De Essenburgh next to Hierden village, passing through the picturesque Leuvenumse Forest and heathlands 'Het Cyriasische Veld'. Our final destination, 'De Essenburgh', is a castle-estate in the municipality of Harderwijk, situated between the villages of Hierden and Hulshorst. The facade stone mentions the year 1652. The builder is Johan Coolwagen, who built it as a status symbol to secure a place within the Knighthood of Veluwe.

The province of Gelderland lies in the east of the centre of the Netherlands. In terms of area (5,137 km2) it is the largest of the twelve provinces of the Netherlands. Gelderland’s 51 municipalities are home to 2 million inhabitants.

Join me on a scenic bicycle ride from Ermelo to Castle De Essenburgh next to Hierden village, passing through the picturesque Leuvenumse Forest and heathlands 'Het Cyriasische Veld'. Our final destination, 'De Essenburgh', is a castle-estate in the municipality of Harderwijk, situated between the villages of Hierden and Hulshorst. The facade stone mentions the year 1652. The builder is Johan Coolwagen, who built it as a status symbol to secure a place within the Knighthood of Veluwe.
