Cramlington is a town and civil parish in the county of Northumberland, North East England, situated 9 miles north of the city of Newcastle upon Tyne. The town's name suggests a probable founding by the Danes or an Anglo-Saxon origin, the word ton meaning town. It sits on the border between Northumberland and North Tyneside with the traffic interchange at Moor Farm, Annitsford (in the latter) linking the two areas. The village of East Cramlington lies east of the A189, on the B1326 road that connects Cramlington to Seaton Delaval.
The first record of the Manor of Cramlington is from a mention in 1135 when the land was granted to Nicholas de Grenville. A register of early chaplains begins with John the Clerk of Cramlington (c. 1163–1180). The register continues to the present day.
There are several large industrial zones in Cramlington, most to the town's north-west near the sewage treatment plant, housing major pharmaceutical companies including Merck Sharp and Dohme. Other growing chemical companies including Aesica Pharmaceuticals are also present. The Officers Club menswear firm (now owned by Blue Inc), previously had its headquarters and supply warehouse in Cramlington.
Plessey Woods Country Park lies just to the north of Cramlington, with the River Blyth flowing through the country park. Northumberlandia , a huge land sculpture in the shape of a reclining female figure is located on the outskirts of Cramlington. Within the town itself, Nelson Hill is a prominent landmark to the north of the town centre. Arcot Hall Grasslands and Ponds SSSI is situated to the south-east of the town.
The town is served by Cramlington Railway Station which is on the East Coast Main Line, with services to the MetroCentre, Morpeth and Newcastle upon Tyne provided by Northern. It is also served by a number of bus operators including Arriva North East which provides express services to Newcastle upon Tyne, Morpeth and Blyth, as well as Go North East which runs services to and from North Shields. Cramlington also has good road transport links, being situated between the A1, A19 and A189 roads. In line with many of the UK's post-war New Towns, Cramlington has an extensive bicycle network. With a grid spacing of approximately 500 m (1,600 ft), segregated cycle routes are provided free of motorised traffic.

Egham Walk: Town Centre【4K】
Located in the county of Surrey, and around 20 miles west, and slightly south, of central London is the town of Egham.
The name 'Egham' derives from 'Ecga's farm/homestead', where Ecga was a Saxon chieftain. It appears in the Domesday Book of 1086 as 'Egeham', and was held by Chertsey Abbey up until the Dissolution of the Monasteries around 1540.
The water-meadow known as Runnymede lies just to the north of Egham, and in 1215 it became the spot where the Magna Carta was sealed by King John. It was chosen for its proximity to the King's residence at Windsor. The Magna Carta (Latin for 'Great Charter') marked the road to individual freedom, parliamentary democracy and to the supremacy of law.
Around the 17th and 18th centuries, Egham became a stop on coaching routes between London and destinations to the west. This industry effectively disappeared with the coming of the railway. In 1856 Egham Station opened. Today this is situated on the Chertsey Branch Line, connecting Egham to the nearby town of Staines, as well as Virginia Water, Chertsey, Addlestone and Weybridge. Trains to London Waterloo typically take between 40 and 60 minutes, depending on stops.
In 1879 entrepreneur and philanthropist Thomas Holloway founded the Egham Campus of what would become Royal Holloway, University of London. Royal Holloway College, as it was initially known, was officially opened in 1886 by Queen Victoria as an all-women college. Male postgraduate students have been accepted since 1945 and male undergraduate students since 1965. In 1985 it merged with Bedford College in London - also a higher education college for women, and the first of its kind when it was founded in 1849. The Egham Campus is around a mile west of the town centre.

Places to see in ( Staines - UK )
Staines-upon-Thames is a suburban town on the River Thames in the borough of Spelthorne in Surrey, England. Before 1 April 1965 Staines was in the historic county of Middlesex. Known to the Romans as Pontes or Ad Pontes, then as Stanes and subsequently Staines, the town officially adopted its longer current name on 20 May 2012. However the upon-Thames suffix is still often dropped in common usage.
The town is within the western bounds of the M25 motorway, 17 miles (27 km) west south-west of Charing Cross in London. It is within the London Commuter Belt of South East England, Greater London Urban Area and adjoins part of the Green Belt. Passing along the edge of the town and crossing Staines Bridge is the Thames Path National Trail.
Parts of the large Staines upon Thames post town are whole villages: Laleham, Stanwell and Wraysbury. The post town includes, due to the long association of Staines Bridge with a medieval causeway (levee) on the opposite bank of the river, half of a large part of a neighbouring town, Egham, namely Egham Hythe, which contains a significant business area within the county, and some of the town's oldest listed buildings.
The historic parish at no points exceeds 13 feet (4 m) above river level. It has no remaining woods, but a large number of parks, leisure centres, a football club which has reached the conference level and some multinational research/technology company offices. London Heathrow Airport is centred 3 miles (5 km) north and Staines railway station is a main stop on the London Waterloo to Reading Line.
The original manor of Staines became derelict and was demolished. Staines Bridge spans the Thames with a three arch structure completed in 1832. Until the 14th century, Staines was the tidal limit, but this is now downstream at Teddington – a replica London Stone exists in the Lammas Recreation Ground.
Staines railway station is a stop on all services between London Waterloo station and Weybridge (for the South West Main Line), Reading (for the Great Western Main Line) and Windsor & Eton Riverside. Semi-fast services serve the Waterloo to Reading Line, being the operator's secondary main line. Taxis are available from the station. The bus station is a five-minute walk from the railway station, with services in all directions including to Thorpe Park and Royal Holloway College. Staines-upon-Thames is also a short distance south of Heathrow Airport.
Neighbouring towns and villages are Egham, Wraysbury, Ashford, Stanwell, Laleham and Chertsey. About 3 miles north east of Staines-upon-Thames is Heathrow airport. The area across the Thames between Egham and Staines-upon-Thames town centres is a ward called Egham Hythe.
