Check out all the places seen in this video:
At first glance, the Scottish landscape is harsh: foreboding fortresses atop hills and cliffs, the desolate moors… But spend some time here and you’ll quickly realize Scotland has its own unique beauty: breathtaking highlands just made for hiking and strolling, craggy coastlines, monuments that are proud reminders of long-ago battles, and blue lakes just made for fishing. Scotland is a land of legends and romance, from Robert the Bruce and Macbeth to lake monsters and the tragic Mary Queen of Scots. Here’s a look at the best places to visit in Scotland:
Best Places in Scotland
Scotland is home to Britain's most spectacular scenery, which includes the highest mountain, Ben Nevis, the deepest loch, Loch Morar, the tallest trees and the most remote areas of wilderness.
Edinburgh as a capital city has everything a capital city should have - a castle, a royal palace, national art collections, great museums, excellent shopping and fine architecture. Glasgow is known for its vibrant cultural life, first class shopping, great museums and galleries.
St Andrews has been a place of learning and the 'home of golf' since 1412; the Royal Old Golf Club was founded in 1745 and is the most influential in the world for the sport.
The Trossachs inspired many writers and poets such as Coleridge, Wordsworth and Ruskin with its beautiful landscape of lochs and hills.
In the Cairngorms you will find Britain's highest mountains with six peaks over 1220 meters high.
The islands of Scotland are all unique; Arran on the Ayrshire coast is often referred to as the 'miniature Scotland'. The Orkney Islands, 70 islands off the north coast, beautiful beaches, historical heritage, culture and wonderful wildlife. Further north, 100 miles off the coast are the Shetland Islands, a blend of Scandinavian and Scottish culture. Off the northwest coast are the Outer Hebrides with their powder-white beaches, dark moorland and craggy cliffs. Skye is Scotland's second largest island, one of the most romantic and beautiful and deeply rooted in history.

Top 10 Cities to Visit in Scotland | United Kingdom
Top 10 Cities to Visit in Scotland.
Scotland is generally seen as a destination with beautiful scenery combined with thousands of historic sites and attractions. These include prehistoric stone circles, standing stones and burial chambers, and various Bronze age, Iron age and Stone age remains. There are also many historic castles, houses, and battlegrounds, ruins and museums. Many people are drawn by the culture of Scotland.
The main tourist season is generally from April to October. In addition to these factors, the national tourist agency, Visitscotland, have deployed a strategy of niche marketing, aimed at exploiting, amongst other things, Scotland's strengths in golf, fishing and food and drink tourism.
Number 10. St. Andrews
St. Andrews is a must-visit for anyone with an ounce of interest in golf. Now something of a mecca for golfers, the Royal and Ancient Golf Club in St. Andrews was established in 1754, making it the oldest - and most prestigious - course in the world. In addition to its seven golf courses, the excellent British Golf Museum is worth a visit, too. There's much else to see and do here that's not related to the sport of golf. St. Andrews is a university city, home to the country's oldest seat of higher learning, and one of its top accommodation options when school's out.
Number 9. Dumfries
From Ayr, it's only a short drive to Dumfries, which also harbors a number of Robbie Burns-related attractions. Topping the list is the poet's former home on Burns Street.
Now an excellent museum dedicated to the poet and his life, it was here Burns lived for the last few years of his life; and thanks to its free admission, the museum is also considered the top thing to do for free in Dumfries. Other must visit attractions include the Dumfries Museum.
Number 8. Ayr
the city of Ayr on the west coast of Scotland is well worth exploring, Best known as the birthplace of Robbie Burns. Scotland's most famous poet is celebrated everywhere here. To make sure you don't miss any of the best landmarks related to this legendary Scotsman, follow the Burns' Heritage Trail to Alloway on the outskirts of Ayr.
Number 7. Stirling
The lovely university city of Stirling has a long and rich history, especially as it relates to Scotland's struggle for independence through the centuries. Just 50 minutes' drive from both Edinburgh and Glasgow, Stirling is where Scottish king Robert the Bruce sent the English packing in 1314.
Number 6. Perth
Just a short hop from Dundee - and accessible by rail from Edinburgh, providing a chance to cross the famous Forth Rail Bridge - the small city of Perth offers a pleasant taste of a less-busy Scotland.
Number 5. Inverness
Exploring the Scottish Highlands should be a highlight of your Scotland travel itinerary. And there's no better place to use as your base than the beautiful Highland city of Inverness. From here, you're just a short drive away from such iconic Scottish scenery as Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle, and some of the most memorable views you'll experience in a country that, frankly, is full of incredible vistas.
Number 4. Dundee
An easy day trip from Edinburgh, Dundee is famous for its spectacular river crossings. Stretching as far as the eye can see across the Firth of Tay from Dundee all the way to the village of Wormit, Considered one of the world's top rail trips, the views are simply stunning as you travel the structure's two miles of steel.
Number 3. Aberdeen
Known locally as the The Flower of Scotland, Aberdeen, like Glasgow, is full of parks and gardens. By far the most famous is Duthie Park, home to the internationally acclaimed David Welch Winter Gardens, one of the UK's biggest indoor gardens. Here, you can visit and enjoy year-round displays of tropical plants and exotic flowers located in a variety of large greenhouses.
Number 2. Glasgow
Since its transformation from an industrial city to the cultural center of Scotland, Glasgow has become one of the country's top-rated tourist destinations. Part of this transformation has taken place on former industrial land along the River Clyde, which has been rebuilt and revitalized in the past few decades.
Number 1. Edinburgh
Whether you're here for a weekend or a week, Edinburgh offers no end of things to do. While the capital city of Scotland is best known for its incredible medieval castle - Edinburgh castle is consistently ranked as one of the UK's most visited tourist attractions - there are numerous other parts of this beautiful city to explore. old man of storr glencoe things to do in edinburgh

DUNDEE - 20 Great Things To SEE & DO in Dundee, Scotland
Hope you enjoy this guide to Dundee and 20 of my favourite things to see & do in this great wee Scottish city :-) Places are not listed in any order of preference - just in the order I visited them on the day - they're all great!
Today I’m in Dundee, Scotland’s 4th largest city and a Scottish city well worth visiting, with lots of attractions within close walking distance of each other, which makes it very easy to explore on foot.
If you'd like a personal tour of Dundee, Edinburgh or Glasgow with me please contact me through my website -
By car, it’s just over an hour’s drive from Edinburgh and about an hour n’ half from Glasgow. By train, it’s around 1 hour 22mins from Edinburgh and 1 hour 30mins from Glasgow. So, all in all, it’s a pretty easy city to get to. The train station is right next to the V&A Museum and Discovery Point - making it even easier to access.
Dundee is beautifully located on the north bank of the Firth of Tay and is Scotland’s sunniest city, which is no bad thing! There’s a wonderful promenade along the waterfront that I can really recommend, with great views over the Tay and some beautiful silvery light on a sunny, bright evening.
The city developed from the late 12th century as a Royal Burgh, and has had many up’s and downs over the centuries, including complete destruction by the Parliamentary forces, lead by General Monck, in 1651. It was an important trading & whaling port, developing into a powerhouse during the industrial revolution in the industries of Jam-making, Jute-weaving, linen and Journalism, which were the city's main employers. Most mills have closed now, but there are a few still hanging on.
The city has been on a period of reinvention since the decline of these industries and today it’s a vibrant, cosmopolitan city that’s well worth at least a day of your time when visiting Scotland.
The city’s waterfront has undergone significant regeneration, with the centre piece the striking V&A Dundee and Slessor Gardens, which are really helping to reconnect the people of Dundee to their waterfront and maritime heritage, which is a great thing!
Hopefully I can convince you to spend some time in Dundee. Most of the city centre attractions are close to each other, making them very easy to visit. I’ll pop a full list of all the places we visit below and you may want to take a few notes as you watch.
Although I cover lots of worthwhile places, my personal top 5 must-see places are Discovery Point & Captain Scott’s ship RRS Discovery, the Verdant Works, Broughty Ferry Beach & Castle, the McManus Art Gallery & Museum and HMS Unicorn. Just these five places alone make Dundee well worth a visit. Here's the full list of 20 places -
1. The V&A Dundee
2. Slessor Gardens & The Whale
3. Discovery Point & RRS Discovery
4. Heather Street Food at V&A
5. Desperate Dan Statue, High Street
6. The McManus Art Gallery & Museum, Albert Square
7. The Malmaison Hotel Dundee for afternoon tea
8. The Verdant Works, Jute Museum, West Henderson's Wind
9. Dundee Law & War Memorial for superb views of the Tay
10. Dundee Waterfront Promenade & Maritime Trail
11. Broughty Ferry Beach & Esplanade
12. Broughty Castle Museum & Harbour
13. DCA - Dundee Contemporary Arts, 152 Nethergate
14. Dundee Rep Theatre for amazing plays, Tay Square
15. The Howff Cemetery, 4 Meadowside
16. Empire State Coffee Artisan Roasters, 28 Whitehall Crescent
17. HMS Unicorn Naval Frigate, South Victoria Dock Road
18. Wild Shore Aqua Park, West Victoria Dock Road
19. The Flame Tree Cafe, Scottish Cafe Aussie Roots, 20 Exchange Street
20. The University of Dundee Botanic Garden, Riverside Drive
I can also recommend the Dundee Penguins at Dundee Parish Church St Mary's and the Lookout Point at DD1 3BH which has great views of the Tay. There's also Dundee Science centre, the Transport Museum and Camperdown Wildlife Park which were closed and I'll visit another day.

Dundee is a coastal city on the Firth of Tay estuary in eastern Scotland. Its regenerated waterfront has 2 nautical museums: RRS Discovery, Captain Scott’s Antarctic expedition ship, and 19th-century warship, HM Frigate Unicorn. North of the water, Verdant Works is a museum celebrating the city’s jute-manufacturing heritage. The McManus: Dundee’s Art Gallery & Museum displays art and archaeological finds.
Dundee officially the City of Dundee, is Scotland's fourth-largest city and the 51st-most-populous built-up area in the United Kingdom. ies within the eastern central Lowlands on the north bank of the Firth of Tay, which feeds into the North Sea. Under the name of Dundee City, Dundee forms one of the 32 council areas used for local government in Scotland.
Historically part of Angus, the city of Dundee developed into a burgh in the late 12th century and established itself as an important east coast trading port. Rapid expansion was brought on by the Industrial Revolution, particularly in the 19th century when Dundee was the centre of the global jute industry. This, along with its other major industries gave Dundee its epithet as the city of jute, jam and journalism.
Today, Dundee is promoted as One City, Many Discoveries in honour of Dundee's history of scientific activities and of the RRS Discovery, Robert Falcon Scott's Antarctic exploration vessel, which was built in Dundee and is now berthed at Discovery Point. Biomedical and technological industries have arrived since the 1980s, and the city now accounts for 10% of the United Kingdom's digital-entertainment industry. Dundee has two universities — the University of Dundee and the Abertay University. In 2014 Dundee was recognised by the United Nations as the UK's first UNESCO City of Design for its diverse contributions to fields including medical research, comics and video games.
A unique feature of Dundee is that its two professional football clubs Dundee United and Dundee F.C. have stadiums all but adjacent to each other. With the decline of traditional industry, the city has adopted a plan to regenerate and reinvent itself as a cultural centre. In pursuit of this, a £1 billion master plan to regenerate and to reconnect the Waterfront to the city centre started in 2001 and is expected to be completed within a 30-year period, with the Dundee Victoria & Albert Museum opening by 2018 at a cost of £80 million.
