The Eemskanaal (Ems Canal) connects the city of Groningen (the Verbindingskanaal/Oosterhaven, Winschoterdiep and van Starkenborghkanaal) with Delfzijl (Ems). The canal was built between 1866 and 1876 and was expanded in 1963.
The canal is a major shipping route (suitable for coasters) and is also the main drainage of northeastern Drenthe (the Hunze and the Drentsche Aa) and the area around Hoogezand-Sappemeer, where many shipbuilding is situated.
The canal is 26,5 km long and has a width of 60 meters.

Delfzijl Netherlands - Emden (& Ditzum), Germany on board of the small ferry the MS Dollard
What is not the most obvious way for the majority of international travellers, but what is an obvious way for cyclist and a fun way to travel between the Netherlands and Germany, is by ferry between Delfzijl in the Netherlands & Emden in Germany (continues to Ditzum). This ferry only operates in the summer time and not every day. However it's a great way to travel between the Netherlands & Germany. Explore this route with me on my way from Groningen city via Delfzijl to Emden.
UPDATE: This video has been recorded in July 2022, I waited for publishing the video at the beginning of the new sailing season, for the summer of 2023 until futher notice the ferry to Norway I'm mentioning in the video will depart from Emden as well (Holland Norway Lines).
Due to some delayed maintenance, the ferry will start operations a bit later in 2023.

Groningen is a city located in the north of The Netherlands. It’s a beautiful city. It is not as big as Amsterdam, and can be explored either by walking or cycling. It’s a student city full of liveliness. It is home to the Rijksuniversiteit and the Medical centre.

DELFZIJL-ON THE BEACH - The Netherlands.
Delfzijl has been given a new beautiful tourist spot on the dike of the Eemsmond, Waddenzee.
As part of the Marconi project, which cost a total of 23 million euros, a beach promenade has been created.
The dike has been raised, the beach has been enlarged, a camper parking space has been created and a new bridge connects the center with the beach promenade.

Delfzijl heeft een nieuwe prachtige toeristiche plek gekregen aan de dijk van de Eemsmond, Waddenzee.
In het kader van het Marconi-project, wat in totaal 23 miljoen euro heeft gekost, is er een strandboulevard gecreerd.
De dijk is verhoogd, het strand is vergroot, er is een camperparkeerplaats gekomen en een nieuwe brug verbindt het centrum met de strandboulevard.
