Isolated Dwarf Village Undiscovered for Centuries - Makhunik
Khorasan, a historical region lying in the northeastern part of Iran, close to the border of Afghanistan, is considered to be one of the cradles of an ancient civilization. In the southern part of this region, we can find Makhunik, a small village seemingly lifted straight from the pages of a fairy tale story. Some believe this village is thousands of years old. This unique place has garnered attention far and wide, not only for its distinctive architectural features and historical significance but also for its intriguing nickname, the dwarf village.
This title stems from a combination of archaeological findings, local myths, and the distinctive architectural features that have led many to speculate about the unusual physical characteristics of its former inhabitants. This legend, with its deep roots in the collective imagination, speaks of a time when the inhabitants of Makhunik were said to be of diminutive stature, living in their uniquely small homes, which seemed perfectly tailored to their size.
