Places In Dabhoi l Gujarat l India
Dabhoi :
It was established in the early 6th century AD. It's foundation and fortification is ascribed to the great King of Gujarat, Siddhraj Jaisinh (1093 - 1143 AD.) who made this his frontier fortress.
The fort of Dabhoi is one of the rare surviving examples of Hindu military architecture, based on the Shastri traditions described in various vaastu scriptures.
There are four gates in the town, one in each cardinal direction, having indirect entry, located in the middle of each side of the fort wall.
Hira Bhagol (gate) in the east, Vadodari Gate in the west, Champaner Gate in the north and Nandod Gate in the south.
Vadodari Gate :
The western gate, it is known as the Vadodari Bhagol (Gate) as the way out of it lead to Vadodara (Baroda).
Like the other gates, this is also decorated with figures related to Hindu mythology. There are cornices on the back as well as the front.
Balaji Temple :
Dabhoi also has many Hindu and Jain temples; devoted to different gods and goddesses.
This temple is one of them and dedicated to Lord Balaji.
Hira Bhagol (Gate) :
The eastern gate, Hira Bhagol was named after its architect - Hiradhar.
It is said that Hiradhar was punished by the King, as he stole stones to assigned for the fort and built a lake called Ten Talav in the memory of his wife / lover called Ten.
Some people say that he was buried alive in the fort wall of the town.
Both faces of the gate are full of sculptural representations of Hindu deities.
On the inner side of the gate, is a famous inscription composed by Rajkavi Someshwar Dev.

Dabhoi is an oldest town near Vadodara, Dabhoi was originally known as Darbhavati.
Dabhoi Fort was built in the 11th~13th century by great king Siddhraj Jaisinh and later complete by Vaishal Dev Vaghela.
There are four main gates built here in Dabhoi surrounded by fort. These four gates are
Hira Bhagol: The eastern gate which has Kalika Mata temple at right side. These gate is full of carving of Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu.
Nandoli Bhagol: southern gate, third one is
Vadodara Bhagol: western gate which leads way to Vadodara city.
Mahudi Bhagol or Champaneri Gate – northern gate which leads way to Champaner.

The term Maharaja Palace actually refers to a series of palaces in Vadodara, Gujarat, India, constructed since the Gaekwad, a prominent Maratha family, started ruling the Baroda State. The first one was a building known as the Sarkar Wada.
2. EME Temple :
The EME Temple or Dakshinamurty Temple is a Shiva Temple run by Indian Army Authorities in the city of Vadodara in the state of Gujarat, western India. It is a unique in concept & design, geodesic structure covered with aluminium sheets.
3. Sursagar Lake :

Wadhwana is a small hamlet located about 50 kms. from Vadodara. The route goes from Vadodara through Dabhoi to Wadhwana. It has a huge lake with about 2km radius. There are watchtowers placed at 1 km intervals on the periphery of the lake. Forest dept. has deputed personnel with fairly good knowledge about the local flora & fauna. Surprisingly, they even have a good quality Celestron telescope for the visitors (human) to gaze through.

Location : 40 Kms from Vadodara, Gujarat, INDIA
Set amidst lush green fields, a huge lake with about 2km radius Situated, barely 40 kms from Vadodara city, and 8 kms from Dabhoi, Wadhwana boasts of an impressive habitat that provides wintering grounds to large number of waterfowl as well as land birds.
Wadhwana is a century old tank, constructed by erstwhile King Gaikwad in 1909-10. This tank has a catchment area of 860 sqkm , deriving its water from Orsang river. This tank provides irrigation to 25 villages. The lake is an important wetland inviting migratory birds from far off places like Siberia and Europe. The place is a good tourist destination for birds lovers from all over the world who come here and enjoy the birds, watching and studying their behavior. There are watchtowers placed at 1 km intervals on the periphery of the lake. Forest dept. has deputed personnel with good knowledge about the local flora & fauna. They have a good quality spotting scope for the bird lovers. For the enthusiastic birdwatcher, it is a delight to visit any time of the year!
Some of the birds seen around the lake: Coots, Ruddy Shelduck from ladakh , Little Grebes, Ferruguginous Pochards, Common Pochards, Greylag Geese from Northern Europe. All three varieties of Ibis- black, glossy & white. Kingfishers- Common, Pied and White throated, common sandpiper, Openbill Storks, Little cormorants, Darters, as well as Pond Herons, Small and medium Egrets, Black Winged Stilts, and the noisy Red Wattled Lapwings are seen. Large numbers of Wire Tailed Swallows fly around the lake. Hoopoes, Paddy field Pipits, Rufous tailed larks and the migrants- common Stonechat as well as white and yellow Wagtails are all present. Black Kites and Marsh Harrier too.
