The Corstorphine Hill Tower, Corstorphine, Edinburgh

A wee video, shot on my phone, of my visit to Corstorphine Hill Tower in Edinburgh. The quality isn't great, but I thought it might be worth posting anyway, as I'm keen to show places in Edinburgh that aren't often visited.

For more of our 'Must-See' places in Scotland visit

I used to visit Corstorphine hill a lot when I was a kid and have many fond memories of exploring it during summer holidays. Those were the days when everything was a great adventure. However, I'd never been up the tower and I jumped at the chance to visit on the Edinburgh Doors Open Day a couple of years ago. As far as I can gather, the tower is open every Sunday from June to September, but please check this on the Friends of Corstorphine Hill website mentioned below.

Corstorphine Hill Tower is a memorial to Sir Walter Scott and is 145 years old. It's looked after by the City of Edinburgh Council and the Friends of Corstorphine Hill charity ( The tower is 531 feet high and offers fantastic 360 degree views of Edinburgh, The Pentland Hills, the Fife Coast and the Firth of Forth Estuary. It's sometimes also known as Clermiston Tower, or the Scott Tower, in memory of Sir Walter Scott.

Corstorphine Hill itself is a local nature reserve and a Regionally Important Geological Site and well worth exploring. If you get a chance it's well worth taking a 10 minute walk from the tower to admire the amazing views of the city and Edinburgh Castle from the Rest & Be Thankful.

Edinburgh (/ˈɛdɪnbərə/ (listen); Scots: Edinburgh; Scottish Gaelic: Dùn Èideann [ˈt̪uːn ˈeːtʲən̪ˠ]) is the capital of Scotland and one of its 32 council areas. Historically part of the county of Midlothian (interchangeably Edinburghshire before 1921), it is located in Lothian on the Firth of Forth's southern shore. Recognised as the capital of Scotland since at least the 15th century, Edinburgh is the seat of the Scottish Government, the Scottish Parliament and the supreme courts of Scotland. The city's Palace of Holyroodhouse is the official residence of the monarch in Scotland. The city has long been a centre of education, particularly in the fields of medicine, Scots law, literature, philosophy, the sciences and engineering. It is the second largest financial centre in the United Kingdom (after London)and the city's historical and cultural attractions have made it the United Kingdom's second most visited tourist destination attracting 4.9 million visits including 2.4 million from overseas in 2018.
Edinburgh is Scotland's second most populous city (behind Glasgow) and the seventh most populous in the United Kingdom. The official population estimates are 488,050 (2016) for the Locality of Edinburgh (Edinburgh pre 1975 regionalisation plus Currie and Balerno), 518,500 (2018) for the City of Edinburgh, and 1,339,380 (2014) for the city region. A Weekend In King Island

Spent a weekend visiting King Island to play a show supporting Benjalu at the King Island Club in the town of Currie. While there, we checked out the surrounding area, visiting Grassy Harbour, British Admiral Bay, Currie Harbour as well as checking out the local football and meeting plenty of great people.

Thanks to El, Kim, Dallas and Dianne, Dave, Troy, Wade, Ben, Ernie and Kate for making this trip not only possible but hugely enjoyable, and to King Island Dairy for the 2kg of cheese.
