Chorley is a town and the administrative centre of the wider borough of Chorley in Lancashire, England.
Chorley is 8.1 miles (13 km) north of Wigan, 10.8 miles (17 km) south west of Blackburn, 11 miles (18 km) north west of Bolton, 12 miles (19 km) south of Preston and 19.5 miles (31 km) north west of Manchester.
Chorley town centre is bisected by the A6 Roman road.
It is located near to junctions 6 and 8 of the M61 motorway and junction 27 of the M6; Charnock Richard services are sited within the borough.
The town's wealth came principally from the cotton industry.
In the 1970s, the skyline was dominated by factory chimneys, but most have now been demolished.
Remnants of the industrial past include Morrisons chimney and other mill buildings and the streets of terraced houses for mill workers.
Also, given its location on the edge of Lancashire Coalfield, Chorley was vital in coal mining.
The last pit in the area to close was the Ellerbeck Colliery in 1987 which was located south of Chorley, between Coppull and Adlington.
Chorley had a population of 33,424 at the 2001 census, with the wider borough of Chorley having a population of 101,991.
The town is the home of the Chorley cake. Every October, the Chorley Cake Street Fair promotes the cakes with a competition for local bakers to produce the largest ever Chorley cake.

Park Royal, located in West London, has a rich history dating back to the early 20th century. Originally, it was developed as an industrial estate in the 1900s and quickly became a hub for manufacturing and business activities. During World War I and World War II, Park Royal played a crucial role in producing munitions and military equipment.
In the post-war era, Park Royal continued to thrive as a significant industrial and commercial area. It housed various companies, including film studios, breweries, and automobile manufacturers. The Guinness Brewery, for example, was a prominent landmark.
Harrow, on the other hand, is a suburban area in Northwest London with historical roots dating back to the medieval period. It developed around the historic Harrow School, one of England's most prestigious public schools, founded in 1572.
Today, both Park Royal and Harrow have evolved significantly. Park Royal remains an industrial and commercial center, while Harrow has expanded into a thriving suburban community with a mix of residential, educational, and commercial developments. The time-lapse video showcasing the journey between these two areas captures the contrast between the bustling cityscape and the quieter suburban landscapes of London.

Hello guy's join me as I walk along Uxbridge road in Shepherd's Bush West London, England
Shepherd's Bush is a suburb of West London, England, within the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham 4.9 miles (7.9 km) west of Charing Cross, and identified as a major metropolitan centre in the London Plan.
Although primarily residential in character, its focus is the shopping area of Shepherd's Bush Green, with the Westfield London shopping centre a short distance to the north. The main thoroughfares are Uxbridge Road, Goldhawk Road and Askew Road, all with small and mostly independent shops, pubs and restaurants. The Loftus Road football stadium in Shepherd's Bush is home to Queens Park Rangers. In 2011, the population of the area was 39,724.

Devon: Valley of Rocks and Coastal Villages

We took a quick trip over to the villages of Lynmouth & Lynton and the nearby Valley of the Rocks after recommendations from cousins and locals. The scenic North Devon coast towns are connected by the Lynton and Lynmouth Clifftop Railway. The Valley of Rocks hike is fairly short with a paved path and grazing baby goats on the cliffs. We of course treated ourselves to a cream tea overlooking the harbor below while the weather passed.

Drone Footage of the COP26 Climate Train
Watch our drone footage of the special 'Climate Train' which operated between the Netherlands and Scotland for the UN Climate Change Conference in October 2021. This video shows the train carrying official delegates, young people, MEPs and members of NGOs including Friends of the Earth and Oxfam in one of the most sustainable ways to travel between the continent and the #COP26 conference in Glasgow.
In the video, you can see the special green train wrap used on the cars to raise awareness of #sustainability, the climate conference, and rail as a responsible travel method as it journeyed between the Netherlands and the UK.

Retford Walk: Town Centre【4K】
Located in the county of Nottinghamshire, and around 25 miles east of Sheffield, is the town of Retford, sometimes referred to as East Retford.
Geographically Retford is situated on the River Idle in the Bassetlaw District, Nottinghamshire's northernmost district. King Henry I established the borough of East Retford in 1105, making it one of the oldest boroughs in England. A royal charter was granted by Henry III in 1246 for a market to be held each Thursday. This was extended in 1275 by Edward I to include Saturday as well.
In 1528 much of Retford was destroyed by a fire. However the town went on to prosper during the 18th and 19th century. The Great North Road entered into the town in 1766. This allowed stagecoaches to pass through Retford all the way from London to Edinburgh. This was essentially the precursor to the modern day A1 which comes within a few miles of Retford. In 1777 the Chesterfield Canal was completed, allowing goods to be transported in and out of Retford. In 1849 the railway arrived in Retford. To this day it provides a direct transport link between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh on the East Coast Main Line.
The church featured in the walk is St Swithun's Church. The first recorded reference of this church dates all the way back to 1258. However most of the church was rebuilt in the 1650s following a collapse of the tower in 1651. Outside the church we see the Sebastopol Cannon. This was captured in 1855 during the Battle of Sebastopol towards the end of the Crimean War and was given to the town in 1858. The cannon was later removed during the scrap metal drive of the Second World War, but was rescued and unveiled anew in 1950.

close to the road from Wigan to Preston was probably built by the Standish family which would account for the fact it was sited on the edge of the ten townships which it served, rather than in the centre. The parish stretched from the Boar’s Head to Bamber Bridge and included Shevington, Coppull, Welch Whittle and Charnock Richard, whilst to the east it extended to include Worthington, Duxbury, Heath Charnock, Anderton and Adlington.
The church was dedicated to St. Wilfrid, a fiery, strong willed man, often in trouble with the authorities, and no respecter of persons, who at various times was Bishop of Ripon, Hexham and York. His greatest achievement was to persuade the Church in England to accept the practices of Rome rather than those of the Celtic churches founded by the early missionaries from Ireland and Scotland.
Over the following centuries the links between the church and the Standish family were consolidated and many of the rectors came from various branches of the family.
Sometime in the 15th century the original church fell into serious disrepair and needed to be restored but the new building was itself later destroyed by fire.
In the 15th century two chantries were built within the church; a third was added later. A chantry was a small chapel at which a priest was appointed to pray and offer Masses for the welfare of named individuals, both while they were living and for the repose of their souls after death. Chantry priests were usually very poor men who lived and ate frugally. They wore a rough cassock with a leather girdle, thick clogs and a felt hat or none at all. These chantries disappeared at the time of the Reformation.
