After surprising my Mum with her dream trip to Cuba we flew over to the capital Havana to spend a few days there before our tour in Western Cuba began.
All major sights in Old Havanna are in walking distance such as El Capitolio , the Museum of the Revolution, Plaza Vieja or the Great Theatre to name just a few. Take a day to roam the narrow streets of the old town and make sure to have a drink at the roof of the Hotel Ambos Mundos!

Exploring colonial Santa Clara & the Che Guevara mausoleum (Cuba's Revolutionary City) 🇨🇺
Santa Clara is the symbol of revolutionist pride in Cuba as well as one of its most beautiful cities.
I didn't have very long to explore this city (Cuba's sixth largest), but I had an enjoyable afternoon touring the mausoleum of revolutionary freedom fighter Che Guevara, before heading to lunch at a nearby resort. After a delicious Cuban lunch, we headed to the historic center, where I wandered down the crumbling alleys to admire some of the city's finest churches, as well as the stunning Parque Vidal, the beating heart of the city.

The Best Place to Eat in Cuba
The Best Place to Eat in Cuba isn't a fancy restaurant run by a Michelin star chef, it's the casa particulares. The casas in Cuba have fantastic food and usually at really good value.
This episode I explore the caves, views and food of Cuba in my visit to the town of Viñales. This is one of the coolest towns in all of Cuba and is home to some of the most impressive limestone karst landscapes. Sunset at a place called Hotel Jasmines is one of the best places in Viñales to watch the sunset.
As for the food, we ended the episode with a giant meal at our casa: definitely the best place to eat in Cuba.

El Cementerio de Cristóbal Colón, was founded in 1876 in the Vedado neighbourhood of Havana, Cuba to replace the Espada Cemetery in the Barrio de San Lázaro. Named for Christopher Columbus, the cemetery is noted for its many elaborately sculpted memorials. It is estimated the cemetery has more than 500 major mausoleums. Before the Espada Cemetery and the Colon Cemetery were built, interments took place in crypts at the various churches throughout Havana.
