The AMAZING FORTRESS - Castle of Clisson -France
Hi everyone,
In this video,we will explore the ruins of a great fortress in the history of France.
The castle of Clisson, located in the Loire-Atlantique region of France, is one of the most impressive ruins. Construction started around the 11th century, by the Lords of Clisson, has a castle but later upgraded to the state of fortress by the Duque François II of Bretagne.
This amazing ruin, still amazes by its view over the village and the Sèvre Nantaise river.
Unfortunatly i couldn't fly my drone, i couldn't get the authorization needed to record and fly over the castle and the surrouding area.
Still i was able to record this with my DJI Osmo Action, while we were on the visit tour of the castle.
Enjoy

Clisson is a commune in the west of France, located in the Loire-Atlantique department, in the Pays de la Loire region.
Clisson was part of the Duchy of Brittany, and was the keystone of the defense of the Marches of Brittany against Poitou and Anjou with its castle. The city is also known as Clisson the Italian because of its Italianate style architecture inspired by rural models of central Italy: Umbria, Lazio and Tuscany and the landscape aspect of the city, recomposed by a great artist of the 19th century Francois-Frederic Lemot.
Clisson is located between Nantes, Cholet and La Roche-sur-Yon, on the border of Maine-et-Loire and Vendée. The town had 7,435 inhabitants in 2019. It is at the center of an urban unit (or agglomeration) also comprising three neighboring towns and totaling 18,138 inhabitants in 2014.
Located on the southeastern edge of the Nantes Vineyard Country, Clisson is in the Nantes Sevre Valley, 25 km south-east of Nantes, 15 km north of Montaigu and 35 km west of Cholet.
Clisson has hosted Hellfest since 2006, one of the biggest metal music festivals in Europe. It is the annual rendezvous of around 180,000 people over three days in June.
It is now one of the biggest events of its kind in Europe and attracts more than 65 different nationalities

FRANCE | 4 Castles in Loire Atlantique | 4K travel documentary
The period of the Middle Ages is a huge part of the History of France. Today, the ruins of many Castles still remain in the whole country. In this short documentary, we explore 4 Castles in Loire Atlantique in the Northwest of France.
Clisson Castle:
Transcription: The construction of this Medieval castle was initiated by the Clisson family. During the Middle Ages, the castle served as a residence but also as a fortress, as you can see by the stone structure, the walls, the towers, the arrow slits, the gatehouse, and the battlements from which soldiers could both hide and fight at long distance. This defensive architecture played a significant role to protect the southern borders of the Duchy of Brittany during the wars of Vendée in the 15th century.
Bretesche Castle:
Transcription: We are now inside the Duchy of Brittany. Built in the 15th century, the Bretesche Castle was a residence with defensive features as well, such as a moat. It served well during the wars of religion, until the French revolution.
Guérande:
Transcription: More than a castle, Guérande was an entire fortified medieval town. 1300m of walls, 4 entrances, and 6 towers, protected the 4000 inhabitants during the 15th century. Today, the city is also known for its salt marshes.
Pé Castle:
Transcription: Surrounded by woods, the Pé Castle was after all a residence for aristocrats during the 18th and 19th centuries. A few pieces of the former feudal castle still remain though.
There are a lot of other Castles in the region that did not appear in this video, such as the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany in the center of Nantes. Do not hesitate to search on Google if you'd like to know more about them.
