10 Things You Can't Miss in Clermont, Florida // Travel Tips for 2022
Take State Road 50 west from Orlando into Lake County and you’ll reach the “gem of the hills.” The city of Clermont was founded in the 1880s, a heritage on full display through a series of original structures on the banks of Lake Minneola.
Dominating one of the most prominent hills in the area is the 50’s-era Florida Citrus Tower. This 226-foot-tall tribute to the region’s citrus industry provides a bird’s eye view of the landscape which has evolved from orange groves to modern-day housing developments.
While an observation tower might be the city’s biggest claim to fame, the historic downtown area has become a destination for local foodies. With several food halls and vendor markets occupying space on and near Montrose Street and other locally-owned brick and mortars, historic Clermont has become one of our favorite places to hang out on a Saturday.

In today's video, we had a suggestion to do a tour of Downtown Inverness, Florida. We just did a tour of Downtown Crystal River, FL in Citrus County so we decided that it was time to do a tour in Inverness! Inverness has a neat little downtown. There are plenty of places to eat. We noticed that it seemed a lot of places were closed on Mon/Tue. They do have the car show on some Fridays and that seems like the best time to head down there. There is a lot of history in the courthouse as Elvis filmed a movie there. If you are looking for a quiet, small downtown, check out Inverness, FL in Citrus County!

California Citrus State Historic Park Hyperlapse walk in Riverside CA in 4K
This park interprets the industry's role in the history and development of California through the stories of the diverse groups of people who made it all possible. The park recaptures the complexities of the time when Citrus was King, exploring the significance of the citrus industry in Southern California. In 1873, the U.S. Department of Agriculture forever changed the history of Southern California when it sent two small navel orange trees to Riverside resident Eliza Tibbets. Those trees, growing in ideal soil and weather conditions, produced an especially sweet and flavorful winter harvest fruit. Word of this far superior orange quickly spread, and a great agricultural industry was born.
In the early 1900s, an effort to promote citrus ranching in the state brought hundreds of would-be citrus barons as well as thousands of migrant and immigrant agricultural workers to California for the second Gold Rush. This resulted in the growth of cities and communities throughout Southern California, most of which were segregated along class and racial lines. On the surface, however, the lush groves of oranges, lemons and grapefruit contributed to California's legacy - its lingering image as the Golden State - the land of sunshine and opportunity.
