10 Best Rated Attractions In Thailand for 2022

Thailand is one of the world's most visited countries, with over 35 million visitors each year. The stunning southern islands, Bangkok's diverse street food scene, and the thousands of temples scattered across the country are among the most iconic attractions.

Thailand is the only country in Southeast Asia that has never been colonized by a European country. In fact, the country's name in Thai is Prathet Thai, which translates as land of the free.

People often marvel at Thailand's forests and jungles, but there used to be more. Most people are unaware that hardwood forest-covered nearly all of northern Thailand over a century ago. Only about a quarter of that forest remains today. As a result, Thailand has outright prohibited logging.

If you enjoy learning about different countries and cultures, please like and subscribe to our channel to see more videos like this. Watch till the end of this video, I will share with you a famous attraction that is the same size as Singapore.

Hilltop shrine at Wat Phra Puttabat Chon Daen

Inside the shrine is a Lord Buddha Footprint for worship.

Wat Bang Kung Temple and Military Camp - วัดบางกุ้ง Thailand

Wat Bang Kung วัดบางกุ้ง is an ancient temple in Samut Songkhram, Thailand. It was built in the Ayutthaya period. It was the site of the Battle of Bang Kung between the Konbaung Dynasty of Burma and the Thonburi Kingdom that is now Thailand.

Archaeological evidence from the Ubosot (Ordination Hall) determine it was built in the Ayutthaya period. It is covered with roots of four plants; Pho (Bodhi), Sai (Banyan), Krai, and Krang. These roots and trees help the hall to stay stable. It is also called Bot Prok Pho. There is a statue of the Buddha enshrined in the hall commonly called Luang Phot Bot Noi. Inside the hall, there is a mural of a story about the Buddha. The Fine Arts Department registered Wat Bang Kung as a national archaeological site on December 18, 1996.

During the Ayutthaya period in 1765, Burmese troops attacked Ayutthaya. Somdet Phra Chao Yu Hua Phra Thi Nang Suriyat Amarin (King of Ayutthaya) commanded the navy to encamp and build a wall around Wat Bang Kung. The temple in the middle of the camp was used as a spirit center for the soldiers. Burmese troops moved along the Maeklong river until they found Bang Kung Camp. The army of Ayutthaya could not resist the attack and the camp was destroyed.

In 1767, after King Taksin (King of Thonburi) regained the country's independence, he commanded the Chinese from Rayong, Chon Buri, Ratchaburi, and Kanchanaburi to form a guard to protect the camp and called it Bang Kung Chinese Camp.

In 1768, Burmese troops led by Burmese king of Angwa, ordered his army and navy to besiege Bang Kung Chinese camp again. Chinese troops fought and were on the brink of defeat until Taksin found out about the battle. Taksin and Maha Sura Singhanat jointly fought and defeated the Burmese. This victory is instrumental in Thailand still being an independent nation.

The temple is a unique place and popular for photographers to use as a background. It is important in Thai history and worth a short visit.

Steep & Windy Mountain Pass Road From Chon Daen To Phetchabun Thailand

My wife and I decided to visit family in Phetchabun and attend some pretty special events in the city. I will have videos for those events coming soon! We decided to drive on highway 113 as opposed to highway 12 to save some time on the drive. This meant we had to take the steep and windy mountain pass road that runs between Chon Daen and Phetchabun. Our daughter would have come with us on the trip, but knowing we would take this road, she passed on the opportunity as she gets car sick easily.

LOCATION:

Please join us on this adventure for a taste of the Thailand experience. I have been living in Thailand, retired, for 2 years now, but have been visiting the country for the last 23 years. This video was captured in 4K from my dash cam so you can relish in all the fine details.

I hope you enjoy this video. Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and SHARE! It means the world to me and helps my fledgling channel.

And remember, Life is too short, so Enjoy every Moment of it, even if it means driving on a steep and windy mountain pass road.
Brian…

P.S. The picture at the end of the video was taken near my home in Phitsanulok, Thailand of a tiny shack near the rice fields where the farmers would take a break from the hot sun.

Temple trip Wat Na Phra Men / Ayutthaya 那普拉梅汝寺 / 大城府

Wat Na Phra Men (also spelled Phra Main) is located off the city island in the northern area of Ayutthaya. It was registered as a National Historic Site with the Fine Arts Department on 25 February 1935.

Wat Na Phra Men was one of only a few to escape the Burmese army's razing of Ayutthaya in 1767.

In the small vihara of Wat Na Phra Men is the Phra Khantharat or the Mon Period stone Buddha image. This stone image is distinguished by its unique posture in Thai art (hands on knees) and is actually seen to be Chinese in terms of aesthetics.
