Good Moments in Zambia & Zimbabwe
This video clip shows some good moments in Zambia and Zimbabwe. We have a look at the Museum and Crafts Centre in Choma and the Nkanga River Conservation Area, both in Zambia as well as at the trip from Zambia to Botswana. In Zimbabwe ve visit a friendly hamlet on our way to Mana Pools.
The exhibits of the Museum and Crafts Centre in Choma concentrate on the Tonga people, most of whom were forcibly displaced by the construction of the Kariba Dam. There are displays on the traditional life of Tonga women and men, including Possession Dances, and craftwork with some lovely beadwork exhibited. There’s also lots of info on Zambia’s Southern Province, including interesting old black-and-white photos, and an art gallery with carvings.
About 20 km north of Choma is the Nkanga River Conservation Area. It consists of three private game farms interspersed with some livestock and crops. It’s one of Zambia’s Important Birding Areas, with more than 400 species found in this small Conservancy.
