ROAD TRIP ZIMBABWE: Travel Guide by 4x4 Camper for History, Culture and SAFARI
Welcome to Zimbabwe! This country has great nature, lots of wild animals, but also a lot of history and interesting cultural sights. We drive through the country from Botswana to see ancient rock paintings, rock formations, beautiful mountain landscape and many safari animals. We stay in the town of Bulawayo, experience the Zimbabwean culture and drive down south through Matobo National Park.
In the previous episodes you saw how we started this road trip in Cape Town South-Africa. From there we drove the Cape Namibia Route along the West Coast to look for animals in the Kalahari Desert. After that we crossed the border into Namibia, where we drove straight through the world's highest sand dunes in the Sossusvlei. We saw all the sights in Namibia and wend on a safari in Etosha National Park. After that we drove to Botswana and found ourselves stuck in bad weather. Luckily we got towed out of the mud, to continue the road trip among wild animals everywhere. Now we visit Zimbabwe and head on to the Kruger National Park, to finally deliver the camper in Johannesburg South-Africa again.
Our journey through Africa is part of a one and a half year trip around the world. We can even continue to travel indefinitely. On New Year's Day we started in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the Canary Islands. Then you saw us in Oman, Cape Verde, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Tobago, Grenada, the Bahamas, the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, Brazil, Qatar, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Australia, the Philippines, Zanzibar & Tanzania, South-Africa, Namibia and Botswana, Zimbabwe is already destination number 25 on the big trip. We have also been away from home for over a year now. Follow us on this world tour, first in Zimbabwe and then to many more beautiful destinations in Africa! This video shows both aerial and ground footage of life in the most rural area of Zimbabwe, precisely Life in Gokwe villages. Gokwe centre is a small rural town located in the Midlands province of Zimbabwe.
Life in Gokwe mostly comprise farming (maize and cotton) and gold-panning. The Gokwe region is divided into Gokwe South District and Gokwe North District. A number of ethnic groups live in this region and these are the Shangwe people (a Shona-speaking group), the Tonga, and last but not least the Ndebele.

Arriving in Zimbabwe, Local Transport, Getting a SIM card in a Small Village, Amazing Hospitality
In this video we arrive in Zimbabwe and receive an amazing surprise airport greeting at 2am from the son of the Workaway host we lives in a local village. The incredible hospitality just kept going into the morning hours as they helped us get to our insanely overcrowded bus. Upon arriving at the village, we were ushered into a vehicle which broke down many times during the journey so we all had to keep getting out. And lastly, we got a SIM card at a local shop in preparation for a very basic life, a wifi desert, for the next 10 days.

Gone to Gona: Gonarezhou Zimbabwe Adventure - The Place of Elephants (Gonarezhou National Park)
We travel to Gonarezhou National Park, the Place of Elephants. And certainly, the name rings true. Back to Beitbridge and the new border, finding our way through the new border procedures there. Arriving at Chipinda Pools a little later than planned, with a night-time river crossing providing some adrenaline on the way!
And what you've heard is true - the elephants can be quite aggressive; mock charging, chasing vehicles, trumpeting, and generally being rather grumpy, especially the fierce males. But what an incredible destination. An absolute must-visit, we recommend you put it on your bucket list today! Gonarezhou is worth the visit, and the spectacular Chilojo Cliffs must be experienced at sunset, so definitely consider booking a campsite there.

How is life in Uitgeest???
Uitgeest is a town in the province of North Holland, The Netherlands. It has a total area of 22.29 km and has a population of around 13,700. Uitgeest is close to the highways of A9 and N8/A8. That is why from here you can easily access Amsterdam in around 25 to 35 minutes. The things you can do in Uitgeest are: sailing/water sport, picnic by the lake or swim by De Zien (public outdoor pool). You can also enjoy the beaches & visit the neighboring towns of Castricum, Heemskerk, Wijk aan Zee and IJmuiden. If you want to experience the Cheese Market, you can go by bus or by train to Alkmaar.
