Campsite Review: Chipinda Pools Camp, Gonarezhou National Park (Camping in Zimbabwe)

Overlanding and Camping in Zimbabwe

We kick off our Gonarezhou adventure by staying at one of their developed campsites close to reception, Chipinda Pools. A really great campsite, right on the Runde River, allowing for fishing; with beautiful shady sites and great views of the wildlife enjoying time in the river, or wandering right through camp. This site is unfenced, and Gonarezhou is a Big Five park. There is also no electricity, but hot water is available via solar geyser. Definitely an advised stop when starting on your Gonarezhou exploration, especially if coming via BeitBridge, and the A4 from Chiredzi.

MAP OF ZIMBABWE

greetings my friends. this is a map of Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in southern Africa. It is bordered by South Africa to the south, Botswana to the west and southwest, Zambia to the northwest, and Mozambique to the east and northeast. Its northwest corner is roughly 150 meters from Namibia, nearly forming a four-nation quadripoint. Most of the country is elevated, consisting of a central plateau (high veld) stretching from the southwest northwards with altitudes between 1,000 and 1,600 m. The country's extreme east is mountainous, this area being known as the Eastern Highlands, with Mount Nyangani as the highest point at 2,592 m.

The highlands are known for their natural environment, with tourist destinations such as Nyanga, Troutbeck, Chimanimani, Vumba and Chirinda Forest at Mount Selinda. About 20% of the country consists of low-lying areas, under 900m. Victoria Falls, one of the world's largest and most spectacular waterfalls, is located in the country's extreme northwest and is part of the Zambezi river. Zimbabwe has a subtropical climate with many local variations. The southern areas are known for their heat and aridity, while parts of the central plateau receive frost in winter. The Zambezi valley is known for its extreme heat, and the Eastern Highlands usually experience cool temperatures and the highest rainfall in the country. The country's rainy season generally runs from late October to March, and the hot climate is moderated by increasing altitude. thats all. please comment and subscribe for the best maps. goodbye.

Gonarezhou National Park Zimbabwe 🇿🇼

🛑Gonarezhou National Park, located in southeastern Zimbabwe, is a true gem in the country's conservation efforts and a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers. The name Gonarezhou translates to Place of Elephants in the local Shona language, and this park certainly lives up to its name.

Covering over 5,000 square kilometers, Gonarezhou is one of Zimbabwe's largest and most pristine national parks, boasting diverse ecosystems that range from lush riverine forests and savannahs to rugged, red-rock terrain. The park's unique geography creates a haven for a wide variety of flora and fauna.

Visitors to Gonarezhou can look forward to unforgettable wildlife encounters. The park is renowned for its large elephant populations, which roam freely across the landscape. Additionally, you'll have the chance to spot other members of the Big Five, including lions, leopards, buffalo, and rhinoceros. Numerous bird species also call the park home, making it a birdwatcher's paradise.

The park offers excellent opportunities for game drives, walking safaris, and birdwatching, all guided by knowledgeable rangers who can share their insights into the park's natural wonders and cultural history. World's Top Hotels: Singita Pamushana Lodge, Malilangwe, Zimbabwe

Discover Singita Pamushana Lodge at

Secluded Malilangwe remains virtually untouched by humankind. The area is home to hundreds of baobab trees, a precious breeding sanctuary for endangered species and an unrivalled gathering of birds with more than 500 species. Here you will find Singita Pamushana Lodge, one of Africa's most exclusive, remote hideaways.

In 1994, the not-for-profit Malilangwe Trust was established as a result of the largest ever single donor investment in Zimbabwe, in order to purchase, protect, and manage the extraordinary wilderness area next to the Gonarezhou National Park in southeastern Zimbabwe. Singita Pamushana Lodge is the ecotourism arm of this 135,000 acre reserve, and its role is to help foster the sustainability of the wildlife and broader ecology, while enabling guests to share the magic of the lodge and the Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve.

Singita manages the lodge on behalf of the Trust and all proceeds from the lodge benefit the numerous conservation and community outreach and development programmes underway. This Zimbabwean based and managed Trust was set up to develop a blueprint for creating harmony between conservation initiatives and community development in villages that neighbour wildlife areas. The initiatives in place in the area have met with great success and each guest who visits Singita Pamushana makes a positive impact to this incredibly beautiful land and dynamic community.

Singita Pamushana Lodge is set amongst towering trees overlooking a 1500-acre lake in the remote reaches of the pristine Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve in Zimbabwe; which spans some 150,000 acres of wilderness in the south-eastern corner of Zimbabwe, bordering the Gonarezhou National Park. This forestlike lodge, with its rough-hewn architecture, is inspired by the bold and vibrant culture of the local Shangaan people who have lived in the region for thousands of years. Beyond the lodge, hundreds of baobab trees punctuate the untouched wilderness of ridges, outcrops, ironwood and mountain acacia woodlands which are home to a great variety of rare and abundant wildlife, as well as hundreds of bird species and ancient rock paintings.

Campsite Review: Chilojo Cliffs Camp, Gonarezhou National Park (Camping in Zimbabwe)

Overlanding and Camping in Zimbabwe at Chilojo Cliffs in Gonarezhou National Park.

One of the most incredible sights you may ever come across, while overlanding and camping in Southern Africa, is the sunset reflecting off the Chilojo Cliffs in Gonarezhou National Park. A majestic spectacle that can be enjoyed for hours. That is what awaits you at the completely off-grid and exclusive campsites - only two! - facing Chilojo Cliffs.

Nothing but your gear, the supplies you brought, a long-drop toilet, and a firepit... oh and of course the incredible views, of the river, the cliffs, and the animal life. If you're planning to visit Gonarezhou in Zimbabwe, we definitely recommend digging a bit deeper to book a night or two at this site.

This site is unfenced, and Gonarezhou is a Big Five park. There is no electricity, no lighting (unless you count the full moon if your timing is right), no running water (the river water is definitely not advised for use of any kind), no shops, and nothing but the sound of the bush all around you.
