Turin - 10 Top Attractions to Visit: Palaces, Museum & Much More in the City Center and Nearby (4k)

If you are planning to visit Turin (Torino), in Piedmont - Italy, here you’ll find the best tips on things to do in the city, so you can easily imagine and organize your trip: WHAT to see, HOW to plan your visit, and WHY to discover Turin.

Turin, the first capital of Italy, has an extraordinary historical and artistic heritage: from Baroque buildings to Liberty; from the Royal Residences, declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, to the Egyptian Museum - the most important in the world after the one in Cairo.

In this video:
- WHAT are the major attractions that you can't go home without having seen, including Piazza San Carlo, Galleria San Federico, the historic cafés, Piazza Castello, Palazzo Reale, Teatro Regio, the Cathedral, the Chapel of the Shroud, the Egyptian Museum, the Mole Antonelliana, the National Cinema Museum, Parco del Valentino, the Basilica of Superga, and Zoom safari.
- Then, I’ll describe to you HOW to follow a two day tour to better visit the city, with clear and useful tips.
- Finally, we’ll discover WHY to visit Turin, with its rich history.

WHAT TO VISIT IN TURIN:

Piazza San Carlo is perhaps the most beautiful square in Turin.
In the center is an equestrian statue of Emanuele Filiberto, while on the south side are the two twin churches in Baroque style.

Like Paris, in Turin you will find many covered galleries.
One of the most famous galleries is certainly Galleria San Federico.

In Turin don’t miss a visit at one of the city's historic cafés.

Piazza Castello is surrounded by interesting buildings such as the Palazzo Reale and the Teatro Regio.

Turin Cathedral was built in Renaissance style in 1500.

The Chapel of the Shroud is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was built to house the linen cloth with the image that Christians identify with the deposed Christ.

The Egyptian Museum of Turin is the oldest museum in the world dedicated to Egypt. An immense treasure to discover the history and mysteries of this ancient civilization.

The Mole Antonelliana is the symbol of Turin and is home to the National Cinema Museum, one of the most visited in Turin.

Turin is the richest city in the world from an environmental point of view, with over 300 kilometres of tree-lined avenues and 21 million square meters of greenery.
In Turin you are never too far from a park or a public garden.
Among the most beautiful is certainly “Parco del Valentino”.

The Basilica of Superga is a monument to commemorate the victory of the Piedmontese against the French in 1706.

Zoom is not a simple safari, but an adventure on foot, between Asia and Africa, to discover animals in their habitats, also through several pools.
From birds of prey in flight and lions, you can let yourself be moved thanks to very experiential activities, which will lead you to observe the animals up close.

If you are planning to visit Bologna, in Emilia Romagna region - Italy, here you’ll find the best tips on things to do in the city, looking at the most relevant points of interest to enjoy, so you can easily imagine and organize your trip: WHAT to see, HOW to plan your visit, and WHY to discover Bologna!

In this video I’ll show you the major attractions that you can't go home without having seen, including: the Two Towers (Asinelli and Garisenda), Piazza Maggiore, Neptune Fountain, the Basilica of Saint Petronio, Saint Stefano Square, Porticoes and canals, the Sanctuary of Saint Luca, and places where Eat and Drink.

CURIOSITIES ON BOLOGNA:

If the Torre degli Asinelli is the highest leaning medieval tower in the world, the leanest tower is its neighbor, the Garisenda tower, leaning 4 degrees against the 3.97 degrees of the Tower of Pisa.

Some of the most illustrious intellectuals of the past studied in Bologna, including: Dante Alighieri, Francesco Petrarca, Tommaso Becket, Paracelsus, Erasmus of Rotterdam, Niccolò Copernico and, in the musical field, Mozart, Verdi, Rossini, Wagner and Puccini.

Did you know who chose the colors of the Italian flag? Luigi Zamboni, an Italian patriot, who said: We join the white and red, the colors of our Bologna, with green, as a sign of the hope that all the Italian people will follow the national revolution we started..

Another travel tip if you are passionate about painting: visit the Basilica of San Martino, which over the centuries has been decorated by the greatest artists, who have made it a sort of art gallery.

The frieze L’incanto di Medea, a work by the Carracci at Palazzo Fava, is considered the first modern nude in the history of art.

It takes as many as 23 people to ring, in the “Bolognese style”, the bell mounted on top of the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Pietro. In the “Bolognese style” means in a cadenced way and with a complete rotation of the bell. The bell weighs 65 quintals!

Bologna was the only European city to absolve the Knights Templar, who were tortured and tried in all other major European cities.

The Italian Academy of Cuisine, together with the Tortellino Confraternity, has deposited the official size of tagliatelle in the medieval Palazzo della Mercanzia, which contains a golden sample of the tagliatelle, where the engraved inscription reads: 8 millimetres, size of the tagliatelle, 1972”. 8 millimeters corresponds to 12,270 parts of the height of the Asinelli Tower.

The Basilica of San Domenico, which was the court of the Inquisition, houses the tomb of Rolandino de' Passaggeri, a famous glossator. The glossators were jurists who, to make the ancient texts of Roman law clearer, added notes in the margins, called glossas. They were so respected in the city that their tombs, a unique case in Italy, were placed outdoors, in areas where they could be seen by everyone. Other examples can be found in Piazza Malpighi (Accursio, Odofredo and Rolandino de' Romanzi).

On the porticoes of Bologna: the porticoes in the thirteenth century were made of wood, and today it is still possible to observe them in their original guise in Casa Isolani in Strada Maggiore, Casa Grassi in via Marsala, Casa Azzoguidi in via San Nicolò and Casa Ramponesi in Via del Carro. The primacy of the largest portico goes to the fourteenth-century one of Santa Maria dei Servi in Strada Maggiore; the primacy of tallest is that of the Archdiocese building, in Via Altabella, with its almost 10 meters in height; the lowest is that of via Begatto, although each portico had to have the minimum height of a man on horseback. The longest arcades in the world are those of San Luca.

On the gates of Bologna:
- Porta San Vitale is known as the Porta per Ravenna, because a fundamental axis of the road to the ancient imperial capital started from here; it should be remembered that for centuries Bologna was part of the ecclesiastical province of the archdiocese of Ravenna.
- Porta Galliera could be called Porta della Rocca Ostile, due to its proximity to the Rocca di Galliera built several times and repeatedly demolished.
- Porta Lame is the Porta delle Acque, due to the presence of marshes and the port. In 1334 it was equipped with 2 drawbridges.
- Porta Saragozza could be called Sacred door or Pilgrims' door as it leads to the portico of San Luca.

Places to see in ( Bergamo - Italy ) Campanone o Torre Civica

Places to see in ( Bergamo - Italy ) Campanone o Torre Civica

The Civic Tower, also known as “Campanone”, is located in the main square of the Upper Town, Piazza Vecchia. It was built between XI and XII Century, when the aristocratic families used to vie to erect the highest tower in the city, so much that Bergamo was nicknamed “The City of one hundred Towers” during that time.

There are different ways to appreciate the Tower’s beauty. You can stare at it from Piazza Vecchia, or you can climb up to its top and enjoy the amazing view: in fact, it’s the only point from where it’s possible to see both the squares at the same time, Piazza Vecchia and Piazza del Duomo. Similar to a belfry, the “Torre Civica” connects the Palazzo della Ragione and the Palazzo del Podestà.

Every night at 10, in the last 360 years, the bell has been chiming one hundred times: back in the days, the Campanone used to warn citizens about the closing of the four entrance Town Gates. The Civic Tower, 52 meters high, can be climbed by means of a narrow staircase or by a modern glass elevator.

The highest tower of the city makes Bergamo Alta’s skyline so particular and beautiful. It represents the most famous one of the numerous medieval towers, to the extent that it was also used as the Podestà seat, the most important office of the city. During that time, every noble family in Bergamo used to show its power by building a tower higher than the others.

Once you’ve reached the top, you can admire the biggest historical bell in Lombardy. It was melted in 1656 and was decorated in manneristic style: due to its huge size, Bergamo citizens began to call it “Campanone - the Big Bell”, a name that was later used for Tower itself, too.

( Bergamo - Italy ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Bergamo . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Bergamo - Italy

FONTECHIARI, ITALIA

Fontechiari is a town and comune in the province of Frosinone, Lazio, central Italy. Located in the Comino Valley, the town has borders with the municipalities of Arpino, Broccostella, Casalvieri, Posta Fibreno and Vicalvi.
The great number of springs of fresh water probably suggested the name of Fontechiari. However, until 1862 it was called Schiavi (slave) because the slaves of Caius Marius, the Roman general from Arpino, were kept here. The ancient medieval settlement was surrounded by high walls, some remains of which are still extant, with a high, powerful square tower of the Boncompagni lords.

ITALY in a motorhome - Part 8 Pienza, the cheese town, Piombaia AgriCamper Italia | Camper Trips

This is the 8th video in a longer series. First, we visit Pienza, a beautiful medieval town, mainly known for the Pecorino de Pienza cheese, made from sheep's milk. Then we also find some of the most beautiful Tuscan cypress places. Finally, we stay with Agriturismo Piombaia where we could stay for the night in the camper and also have a fabulous dinner.

During 19 days we drove 2.830 kilometres through a good part of Italy. Mainly Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany. We had been planning the trip for weeks and months, to be sure we could visit many of the best local producers of wine, pasta, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, cheese, hams, salamis and more. We want to see how it's made, taste it, and speak to the people behind the products. It was a fabulous journey with a lot of fantastic new knowledge for us. Sometimes we could stay at the producers' premises, sometimes by Agricamper hosts. Follow us and get inspired.
