Hiking Mt. Cheam in Beautiful British Columbia! A Must-Do Hike in BC!
Mt. Cheam hiking guide and tour in Chilliwack, British Columbia. This is a top hike to do in BC! We started our outdoor BC adventures with a bang by hitting up Chilliwack for the first time and off-roading in one of the craziest mountain ranges we've ever seen! - the Cheam Range.
📖 What you need to know before hiking Mt. Cheam:
Getting to the Mount Cheam trailhead got us breaking out in a sweat as we drove up the old logging road like surfing waves. It was intense and exhilarating! But not as incredible as the hike itself.
Hiking to Cheam Peak has to have been the most unique hiking experience we've ever had. From mossy green to meadows filled with wildflowers up to our waist, to being completely immersed in clouds as we scaled the ridge of Mount Cheam. This mountain experience was by far one of our favourites ever!
Tips for this hike: because it's not as trafficked, be weary of wildlife - hike in groups, carry a bear bell and bear spray. Wear sunscreen and bug spray and make sure to bring them with you! The mosquitos and flies were unforgiving along this hike and so can the sun be, on a non-cloudy day. And driving the logging road will require a 4x4 to get to the trailhead unless you're willing to incline walk 2+ hours just to get to the start of this hike!

Sutton is the principal town of the eponymous London Borough of Sutton in South London, England. It lies on the lower slopes of the North Downs, and is the administrative headquarters of the Outer London borough. It is 10 miles (16 km) south-south west of Charing Cross, and is one of the thirteen metropolitan centres in the London Plan. The population of the town was counted as 41,483 in the 2011 census, while the borough overall counted 204,525.
An ancient parish originally in the county of Surrey, Sutton is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as having two churches and about 30 houses. Its location on the London to Brighton turnpike from 1755 led to the opening of coaching inns, spurring its growth as a village. When it was connected to central London by rail in 1847, it began to grow into a town, and it expanded further in the 20th century. It became a municipal borough with Cheam in 1934, and became part of Greater London in 1965.
Sutton has the largest library in the borough, several works of public art and four conservation areas. It is home to several large international companies and the sixth most important shopping area in London, centred on Sutton High Street. Sutton railway station is the borough's largest, with frequent services to central London and other destinations, including Horsham. Sutton is a hub for filming in South London. It is home to the Royal Marsden Hospital and the Institute of Cancer Research, where there are plans to create the world's second biggest cancer research campus.
Crime levels are among the lowest in London.
Sutton borough is among the highest performing education authorities in the country. In 2011 it was the top performing borough for GCSE results in England

Mount Cheam Hike, British Columbia
Mount Cheam towers over the Chilliwack Valley, overlooking farmland and the village below. The peak is 2104m (69023 feet) above sea level. The climb is steep and challenging in places, and leisurely in others. Meadows, trees, shale slides, and natural stone stairs make the trail a mixture of terrain. Stopping to take in the view as you hike, this trail is 4.5km long and requires almost three hours to complete. Descending will take almost 2 hours.
The view from the top is stunning. On a clear day, vistas and gorgeous mountain peaks are visible on one side and the Fraser Valley stretches out on the other side. The scenery is breath taking.
Descending, the cool water in the small mountain lake at the bottom is inviting and refreshing for those who want to swim.
Even the drive up the mountain to the starting point is an adventure. A jeep or a rugged truck is your best bet. It's 10km of steep areas with deep ditched areas to prevent flooded, washed-out roads.
