Port Melbourne is an inner suburb of Melbourne, Australia, 5 km south-west from Melbourne's central business district. It is split between the local government areas of Melbourne and Port Phillip. The area to the north of the West Gate Freeway is in the City of Melbourne. The area to the south is in the City of Port Phillip. At the 2016 Census, Port Melbourne had a population of 16,175.[1]
The suburb is bordered by the shores of Hobsons Bay and the lower reaches of the Yarra River. Port Melbourne covers a large area, which includes the distinct localities of Fishermans Bend, Garden City and Beacon Cove.
Historically it was known as Sandridge and developed as the City's second port, linked to the nearby Melbourne CBD.
The formerly industrial Port Melbourne has been subject to intense urban renewal over the past two decades. As a result, Port Melbourne is a diverse and historic area, featuring industrial and port areas along the Yarra, to open parklands, bayside beaches, exclusive apartments and Bay Street's restaurants and cafes. The suburb also forms a major transport link from east to west, home to one end of the West Gate Bridge.
Port Phillip (also commonly referred to as Port Phillip Bay), is a port in southern Victoria, Australia. It is nearly surrounded by the city of Melbourne and its suburbs. Geographically, the port covers 1,930 square kilometres (480,000 acres) and the shore stretches roughly 264 km (164 mi). Although it is extremely shallow for its size, most of the port is navigable. The deepest portion is only 24 metres (79 ft), and half the region is shallower than 8 m (26 ft). The volume of the water in the port is around 25 cubic kilometres (6.0 cu mi).
Before European settlement the area around Port Phillip was divided between the territories of the Wathaurong (to the west), Wurundjeri (north) and Boonwurrung (south and east) Nations. Its waters and coast are home to seals, whales, dolphins, corals, and many kinds of seabirds and migratory waders.
The first Europeans to enter the port were the crews of HMS Lady Nelson, commanded by John Murray and, ten weeks later, HMS Investigator commanded by Matthew Flinders, in 1802. Subsequent expeditions into the bay took place in 1803 to establish the first settlement in Victoria, near Sorrento, but was abandoned in 1804. Thirty years later, settlers from Tasmania returned to establish Melbourne, now the state's capital city, at the mouth of the Yarra River in 1835 and Geelong at Corio Bay in 1838. Today Port Phillip is the most densely populated catchment in Australia[1] with an estimated 4.5 million people living around the bay; Melbourne's suburbs extend around much of the northern and eastern shorelines, and the city of Geelong sprawls around Corio Bay, in the port's western arm.

Sassafras Village Dandenong Ranges 4K Walk Cinematic Travel Vlog Tour Autumn Visit Stores Melbourne
Sassafras is an attractive village located in the bushy and scenic Dandenong Ranges, situated just south of the popular tourist destination of Olinda.
The town's commercial centre is based around the junction of the Mount Dandenong Tourist Road and the Mountain Highway and features a diverse collection of cafes, antique and craft shops. At the road junction is the Village Green park and adjacent to that is a plant nursery. Directly across the road from the nursery is the most recognisable building in Sassafras - the Miss Marples Tea Rooms which are housed in a beautiful two storey English Tudor style house.
Several boutique restaurants and stylish accommodation establishments are tucked away in secluded spots along forest roads around the town.

Caulfield Park is Glen Eira's largest park and, understandably, also the most popular. Its design reflects the history of the park, and its diverse array of facilities support its status as a major hub for a plethora of activities within Glen Eira.
Caulfield Park features:
three playgrounds
seven sports ovals
three pavilions (including community rooms for hire)
sports training facilities
outdoor fitness equipment
public toilets
chess tables
extensive amounts of open space
a relaxing lake with resident feathery friends
The Hawthorn and Balaclava Road corner of the park features a series of bronze statues titled The Paper Boy, Mother and Child and Climbing Boys. Completed by sculptor Phillip J Cannizzo in 1980, there's a rumour that one of the statues is dedicated to a paper boy who was killed on the corner.

The size of Caulfield Park allows for the inclusion of a variety of play facilities. This includes 3 separate playground areas.

There are a variety of picnic shelters and facilities, including BBQs, throughout Caulfield Park. The following picnic shelters within Caulfield Park can be booked for your next social gathering or celebration:
Park Crescent Rotunda — located next to Park Crescent playground, featuring picnic tables and providing access to BBQ facilities and public toilets
Aviary Gardens Rotunda — located along Inkerman Road next to the Aviary Gardens playground, featuring picnic tables and providing access to BBQ facilities and a public toilet
The bridges near the lake as well as the band stand are also available for bookings and are heavily used for weddings and other formal celebrations.

Melbourne is the capital city of Victoria, and Australia’s second-largest city. On this Adventure I will take you to Caulfield a beautiful leafy suburb in Melbourne.
When I first moved to Melbourne back in 1994 I lived in North Caulfield and this is where my love of Melbourne began.
My most favourite memory was Caulfield Park, with its beautiful ponds with water birds to watch and feed and at this time of the year its magical trees with all there autumn glory.
Walking the streets of Caulfield you can enjoy old Melbourne house a long side modern archetural homes.
Caulfield is a very rich suburb both in Wealth and Culture it is well known for its large Jewish Community. So come and enjoy a walk with me and fall in love with Melbourne as I did 28 years ago.
