The beauty of Tarangban Falls lies in its cascading effects which stretch sideways. It’s the highest waterfall in Calbayog City and people have been admiring it for many years due to its serene location and magnetic appearance. It’s a huge waterfall and instead of being upright like many waterfalls are, you’ll notice that the rock formations where the water flows through are slanting so it adds character to it.

Tarangban Falls is located in Barangay Tinaplacan in Calbayog City, Samar, Philippines. A trip to the falls if you’re staying at the town proper will take a couple of rides and trekking. You need to leave your hotel around 7:00 am to start your trip early. You must then ride a jeep or van which goes directly to Barangay Tinaplacan then register at the entrance and hire a tourist guide for a fee.

You’ll go again on another journey from the highway to Bangon Falls then from Bangon Falls another 30 to 40 minutes of trekking to finally reach this wonderful destination. Don’t worry because it’s such a stunning place that you won’t mind all that travel just to get to the falls.

You must bring your own foods during your trip because there are no eateries in the vicinity but be mindful of your trash and bring garbage bags with you and take it back and throw it properly. Visitors are advised to go home at 2:00 pm and are discouraged to visit during the rainy season. This is to keep everyone safe and also, to take care of Calbayog’s priced possession.

THE NEW TARANGBAN FALLS, CALBAYOG CITY, SAMAR

Went to my best waterfalls yet, the majestic Tarangban Falls of Calbayog City in Samar.

Tarangban falls is likely one of the highest waterfalls in Calbayog City. It looks like being dropped down several times while the water passes through the big rocks and that’s what makes it a stunning landscape to behold. The waterfall owns an interesting brink and looks so wide. And while the water flows down in slope direction and bumps on a huge rock, it appears wider and jaw-dropping as you keep gazing at its natural beauty. The water is cold, which will surely mollify your jaded body after your arduous trek. You can also get near the waterfalls and get to experience the natural massage of Tarangban Falls.

Tarangban Falls is located in Tinaplacan, Calbayog City. It is approximately 4 kilometers away from the main road and a 30 minutes hike from the jump-off point. It is a sight to behold as the crystal clear water cascades through the different rock formations. You can spend all day watching it while enjoying the refreshing flow of the water.

How to get there: From Tacloban City you can ride a van going to Calbayog City and just tell the driver to drop you at Tinaplacan main road (there is a signboard going to Tarangban Falls). From the main road, you can take a habal-habal going to the jump-off point. From the jump-off, you need to hike for about 30 minutes to reach the Tarangban Falls.

From passing by a famous school named the University of Eastern Philippines (UEP) to enjoying a delightful snack at Sunrise floating restaurant, visiting the beautiful Catarman Cathedral, treating ourselves to a delicious cake made of tablea from Verena's Restaurant, and extending a helping hand to those in need, it was only a 3-hour city jaunting filled with adventure, snack delights, and acts of kindness. Samar is an island in the Visayas, within the central Philippines. The island is divided into three provinces: Samar province, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar. These three provinces, along with the provinces on the nearby islands of Leyte and Biliran are part of the Eastern Visayas region. It is the third largest island in the Philippines after Luzon and Mindanao.
Samar is the easternmost island in the Visayas. The island is separated from Leyte by the San Juanico Strait, which at its narrowest point is only about two kilometers across. This strait is crossed by the San Juanico Bridge. Samar lies southeast of the Bicol Peninsula on Luzon, the country's largest island; the San Bernardino Strait separates the two. To the south of Samar is the Leyte Gulf, the site of the Battle of Leyte Gulf, one of the most decisive naval battles during the Second World War. The gulf opens out into the Philippine Sea, found to the east of Samar and is part of the Pacific Ocean.
