10 Best Tourist Attractions in Tucson, Arizona
Tour Tucson Tuesday - Catalina Foothills
Join me on my weekly exploration through Tucson neighborhoods and all that Tucson has to offer for weekend day trips, visits, and daily life! Each video is only one minute - it's designed to give you a quick impression of an area. Get a real feeling of the character of each neighborhood and see some sample houses. If you're interested in a deeper dive into any neighborhood, drop me a comment and let me know!
I sell real estate in the Tucson area and love all of the neighborhoods hidden in plain sight! My objective is to help people moving from outside of Tucson explore the city from a distance. I spent much of my life moving all over the states (lived in 18 cities and 10 states) and I relate especially well to the challenges of exploring a new place when you can only visit for short stents. If you come to Tucson and are interested in exploring neighborhoods for the purpose of moving here, I'm happy to be your tour guide for a day!
This particular video explores the Catalina Foothills in Tucson. It sits south of the Santa Catalina mountains on the north side of Tucson. Tucson is surrounded by mountain ranges on all sides -- Santa Catalinas to the north, Tucson mountains to the west, Santa Rita mountains to the south, and the Rincon mountains to the east. Mountain views aren't hard to come by, but central Tucson (sometimes having views to three sides albeit from further away) also has so much to offer in character, convenience and nearby nightlife.
The Catalina Foothills residential community was developed in the 1920s when John Murphey bought 7000 acres in the foothills of the Santa Catalina mountains with a vision of luscious, natural desert and spacious living. He hired Josias Joesler to implement his vision. Tucson natives and long time residents are typically familiar with Joesler architecture which is so prominent in the foothills. The views are majestic to the north, and breathtaking toward the city side as well.
In the immediate area, there are endless hiking trails. Among them are Finger Rock, Sabino Canyon and Ventana Canyon. There are trails for those wanting a quick 45 minute hike, as well as for more hiking enthusiasts who may want to explore for a whole day, or even overnight.
This video is designed to give you just a quick peek at what the Foothills look like and feels like. If you want a deeper dive, message me and I'll get on it! My aim is to explore all of Tucson on an ongoing basis and share it with the world.

Whether you come to Tucson to indulge in a long weekend of relaxation at one of the city's premier spas, or you just happen to be passing through town, the best Tucson hotels offer a pleasing blend of traditional southwestern ambiance and modern amenities.
One of the oldest hotel resorts in town, the Westward Look Resort, is still one of the best. Located in the exclusive Casas Adobes area of the city, the Westward Look features nature trails and great views of the Santa Catalina Mountains. Rooms are spacious and most come with a private balcony.
For the ultimate in desert luxury, there is Miraval Spa, a hotel resort specializing in providing guests with a total mind-body rejuvenation. The hotel offers daily physical activities designed to challenge both mind and spirit, wholesome daily meals, and a full-service spa offering the latest in holistic treatments.
If you're looking for a taste of historic Tucson, head to the Arizona Inn, one of the oldest and most beautiful hotels in town. The manicured grounds are dotted with citrus trees, and there is a fine dining restaurant on site.
If you want to stay in the heart of the city, book a room at the historic Hotel Congress. The rooms are spare, clean and understated. In keeping with the vintage 1930s theme of the hotel, there are no TVs in guest rooms. But the excellent cafe, bar and nightclub - and storied history of this well-kept establishment - should provide ample entertainment for most guests.

Things to See and Do Catalina, Arizona #arizona
Our adventures begin in Catalina State Park that is a must see in Catalina, Arizona area! The Catalina Foothills are loaded with amazing hiking trails and we take you on a couple of amazing hikes. Then we go to Oracle for an amazing dining experience at the Peppersauce Kitchen where you cook your own steak. We take on a RV project and do a renovation on RV Blinds to give our RV a brighter and lighter look and feel.
Say “Catalina Foothills” to any local Tucsonan and watch their eyes light up. They appreciate how the rolling foothills create a transition zone between city life on the valley floor and mountain adventures in the majestic Santa Catalina Mountains. On the north side of the mountain, visitors get an up-close view of the dramatic rock faces at Catalina State Park. Visitors can make the park their crash pad at any of the 120 campsites with paved parking slips for RV and tent camping. Visitors who spend the night in Catalina State Park are all but guaranteed to see coyotes, javelinas and jackrabbits, among other prolific desert critters.
The Sutherland Wash Petroglyphs hike mixes history of days past with present-day natural appeal in Tucson’s popular Catalina State Park. This trail begins just outside of the park and wanders through and then back out of the northeastern corner to a petroglyph site. This trail can get a bit overgrown after heavy monsoon seasons, so if you’re here after a lot of rain, long pants and even a machete may be helpful. Having a downloaded route is helpful to locate the petroglyphs at the end of the trail.
Seven Falls is one of the most popular hikes in Tucson. And it’s easy to see why. Besides being the #1 rated trail in Tucson by All Trails, it boasts seven waterfalls, incredible views, and a moderately easy hike. You can find the trail to Seven Falls (Bear Canyon Trail) in Sabino Canyon Recreation Center. Sabino Canyon is one of my absolute favorite places to hike in Tucson. There are so many different trails to travel and all offer incredible and versatile experiences.
This amazing Arizona hike is in Sabino Canyon in the Catalina Mountains. Just outside of Tucson Seven Falls Hike takes you through several river crossings as it winds to the falls. At the falls don't pass up on an opportunity to take the plunge in the ice-cold waters it is truly refreshing and will keep you cool on your hike back to the visitor center.
Canyon, one of the premier natural areas in southern Arizona, is located at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains at 5700 N. Sabino Canyon Road, Tucson, AZ 85750.
Come to Sabino to see water in the desert. Between steep rock cliffs and unique desert vegetation you will find riparian corridors. You may even get lucky and view a Gila Monster, Bobcat, or other animals that are adapt to our 100 + degree summers and mild winters. The Sonoran desert has two rainy seasons: gentle winter rains and a dramatic summer monsoon. Due to winter's snow melt and summer's electrifying lightning storms, Sabino Creek flows almost year around.
Located at 35406 Mount Lemmon Rd, Oracle, AZ 85623, Peppersauce Kitchen offers a delightful culinary experience. It’s a great spot for a quick bite, serving a mix of American, Mexican, and Fast Food options. Their menu ranges from soups to burgers12.
Operating Hours: Open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays1.
Reviews: Visitors have praised the chef’s ability to accommodate special dietary needs and the consistently delicious food. The patio even allows you to bring your own alcohol while enjoying the view and watching zip liners on closed-circuit TV2.
