In this video:
- WHAT are the major attractions that you can't go home without having seen, including Cagliari, Alghero, Emerald Coast (Costa Smeralda), Pelosa beach, the village of Bosa, Villasimius, Costa Rei, Limbara mountain, Gallura, Tavolara island, Capo Ferrato, Stintino village.
- Then, I’ll describe to you HOW to follow a tour to better visit the island, with a clear map of Sardinia and tips to organize your trip and your vacation.
• Finally, we’ll discover WHY to visit Sardinia, with its rich traditions and wonderful nature!
So, what are the most relevant points of interest in this fascinating island? Here are my answers:
COSTA REI
Located on the southeast coast of Sardinia, Costa Rei is a small village. This place is much appreciated by international travelers as a destination for holidays in Sardinia.
Across miles of stunning white sand beaches, here you can find high-quality tourism services: some of the best family hotels, luxury villas, resorts, restaurants, and much more.
GALLURA
Among the favorite tourist destinations in the Mediterranean, Gallura lies on a beautiful stretch of land almost lapping Corsica, overlooking the Strait of Bonifacio.
The extreme north of the island is the natural pearl of the promontory of Capo Testa, with its beaches surrounded by the greenery of strawberry trees and a rich Mediterranean vegetation.
COSTA SMERALDA
In particular, the Costa Smeralda is a coastal stretch that is part of Gallura and which extends for about 55 kilometers.
Moving south there is the imposing island of Tavolara, in front of which there are other beautiful beaches such as Lu Impostu and Brandinchi.
ALGHERO
Alghero is a city loved for its walkway along the port’s bastions, the red roofs that touch the sky and the historical center: a labyrinth of narrow streets that connect piazzas bustling with life.
VILLASIMIUS
Villasimius is popular for its renowned resorts, hotels and long white sand beaches with crystal clear waters, diving sites, coves, and a landscape covered in the Mediterranean scrub.
LIMBARA
Visit Monte Limbara, a rocky granitic massif not very high (1,359 meters), recommended to those who want to hike and enjoy nature without a deep trekking experience.
CAGLIARI
Most tourists begin their visit in the island capital of Cagliari, stopping at least to climb from Piazza della Costituzione to Bastione San Remy.
Cagliari can be an excellent base for visiting the southern coast of the island, which has some of the best beaches in Sardinia.
STINTINO (LA PELOSA BEACH)
The main tourist attraction of Stintino is the beach of La Pelosa, made of fine white sand and a turquoise-blue sea. An icon here is the tower, built in 1578 by the Aragonese, called Torre della Pelosa.
BOSA
In the village of Bosa, a tangle of medieval streets winds from the old stone bridge to the hilltop Malaspina Castle.
CAPO FERRATO
The wild promontory of Capo Ferrato is ideal for taking beautiful walks and breathing in nature.

Places to see in ( Sardinia - Italy ) Carbonia
Carbonia is a town and comune, which along with Iglesias was a co-capital of the former province of Carbonia-Iglesias, now suppressed and incorporated in the Province of South Sardinia. It is located in the south-west of the island, at about an hour by car or train from the regional capital, Cagliari.
Carbonia was officially inaugurated on the 18 December 1938 by the Fascist regime. Benito Mussolini ordered the building of the city and was present at its inauguration. The city was built in order to provide housing for the workforce of the nearby mines. The name Carbonia comes from the Italian word for coal, a resource that is abundant in this area.
The city grown considerably since its birth in 1938, due to mass immigration of people from the rest of the Island and mainland Italy (in particular from the regions of Veneto, Sicily, Abruzzo, Marche, Basilicata and Campania), reaching about 45,000 residents in 1951. Currently it has a population of over 28,000 inhabitants.
Since the mines' closing during the 1970s, Carbonia has had to deal with a high unemployment rate. After the closure of the mines the town's economy was converted on the metallurgical industry, so today most Carbonians find their employment in the heavy industry, but also in the tertiary sector.
Main sights of Carbonia :
Monte Sirai, a hill in the surroundings of the city that hosts the ruins of a Phoenician-Carthaginian built-up area
Domus de janas in the surroundings of Sirri and Monte Crobu
Romanesque church of Santa Maria di Flumentepido (11th century)
Former Serbariu coal mine, now turned into a museum and a site of industrial archaeology

Places to see in ( Sardinia - Italy ) Iglesias
Iglesias is a comune and city in the province of South Sardinia in Italy. It was co-capital of the province of Carbonia-Iglesias with Carbonia, and the province's second-largest community. Under Spanish control Iglesias was one of the most important royal cities on Sardinia, and it is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Iglesias. At an elevation of 190 metres (620 ft) in the hills of southwestern Sardinia, it was the centre of a mining district from which lead, zinc, and silver were extracted. Iglesias was also a centre for the distillation of sulfuric acid.
In 1720, after almost 400 years of Aragonese-Spanish rule, the city passed with the rest of Sardinia to the House of Savoy. Since the mid-19th century, thanks to the reopening of nearby mines, Iglesias has experienced a period of economic, social and cultural renewal. Many miners, workers and technicians from elsewhere on Sardinia and northern Italy settled in the city, whose population increased from 5,000–6,000 during the 1850s to about 20,000 in the early 20th century. After the Second World War the Sardinian mining sector was in crisis, the effects of which involved the Iglesiente's mines and the town of Iglesias.
Iglesias' economy has waxed and waned because it has been largely focused on mineral resources. During the 21st century, with little surviving mining activity, the town has tried to emphasise medieval tourism with a medieval parade, a tournament of archers and a living game of chess.
The Castle of Salvaterra was probably built as part of urbanization after 1258 under Ugolino della Gheradesca. It was designed as a bulwark from which to survey the town and its surroundings as far as the silver mines. Construction of the Santa Chiara Cathedral was an initiative for demographic and urban development undertaken by the Donoratico della Gherardesca family.
Town Hall is at the heart of the historic town centre relative to the medieval walls. According to plans by civil engineer Antonio Cao Pinna, it was built by the Vincenzo Sulcis company between 1871 and 1872. The façade, set on a base of volcanic-stone ashlar, is divided horizontally by stringcourse cornices.
Piazza Sella, with benches, a pedestrian area and the town market, is Iglesias's social centre. It is bordered by Via Garibaldi (which leads to the railway station and separates it from nearby Piazza Oberdan), Via Valverde and Via Gramsci. The piazza is named after Quintino Sella because of the statue of the politician and economist by Giuseppe Sartorio which was erected in its centre in 1885; Sella developed Iglesias as a mining town.

Cagliari is not only sea and pink flamingos but also historical monuments.
The ancient Amphitheatre of Cagliari is the most important of the historic buildings of Roman Sardinia. The builders, perhaps on several occasions between the first and second century AD, have done an incredible job carving the rock to form these bleachers. To help your imagination and take your mind back in time, I can tell you that the Roman Amphitheatre of Cagliari had a monumental facade well over 20 meters high and could hold up to 10,000 people to watch the fights between men and wild beasts, the execution of capital sentences and fights to the death between gladiators.
So what we see today in ruins was once an integral part of the city's life, both good and bad.
IT

Places to see in ( Sardinia - Italy ) Pula
Places to see in ( Sardinia - Italy ) Pula
Pula is a comune in the Metropolitan City of Cagliari in the Italian region of Sardinia, located about 25 kilometres southwest of Cagliari. As of November 30, 2015, it had a population of 7.422, and an area of 138.7 square kilometres.
Pula is a popular holiday resort, with many famous hotels and beaches. The ruins of the ancient city of Nora are among the most important archaeological sites of the island. The Municipality of Pula contains the frazione (subdivision) Santa Margherita di Pula.
Pula is located near the ancient city of Nora. Nora was built by Phoenicians around the eighth century B.C. There is evidence that Pula was built on a pre-existing Nuragic settlement or according, to legend, by Iberians brought to Sardinia by Norax.
In the following centuries, the city was ruled by the Punics, and then by the Romans. The Romans made Nora the capital of Corsica and Sardinia for a short time, then gave the title to nearby Caralis (modern Cagliari). After the end of the Roman Empire, Nora, like many other Sardinian coastal cities, suffered continuous raids from the Vandals and the Saracens, and eventually ceased to exist from about the eighth century AD.
During the Middle Ages, Pula was a village called Padulis de Nura or Nora Marsh, which was part of the Giudicato of Cagliari. It was incorporated into the crown possessions of Aragon in 1355, after the death of Gherardo della Gherardesca the younger and was entrusted to various feudal lords. In the eighteenth century, there was a revival of agriculture, mainly due to agricultural reclamation promoted by religious groups, and then by the state. Agricultural reclamation intensified the development of olive and fruit growing.
On the Promontory of Capo di Pula are the ruins of the ancient city of Nora. The remains were discovered accidentally when a violent storm uncovered part of a funerary tophet. More discoveries followed; one of the most striking was a Roman theatre. Since its excavation, the theater has been used for occasional concerts during the summer.
Not far away a single column indicates a Roman temple and adjacent to it is a forum - the social and economic center of the city. A temple is dedicated to the goddess Tanit; the identity of the goddess was supported by the discovery of a stone pyramid. Another building appears to be a spa complex. The size of its ruins suggest that it was a very impressive structure.
The Giovanni Patroni Civic Museum, located on Corso Vittorio Emanuele in the heart of Pula, houses relics discovered during archaeological excavations of Nora. In the church of San Giovanni Battista (St. John the Baptist), are two marble sarcophagi, one of which contains the remains of the Duchess of St. Peter Agostina Deroma, who died in 1759. On the Piazza del Popolo is the Villa Santa Maria, designed by Gaetano Cima in the first half of the 19th century, and built on the ruins of an ancient church of the same name.

Cagliari ♥️ My beautiful city ♥️
Cagliari is a city in Sardinia (Italy). The best period to visit it is May/June and September when the city is not very busy like in July and August.
it's for every kind of people, couple, friends, families, because as is a quite city but in the same time is even full of pubs or club on the beach, We had a famous beach only 10 minutes by car from the city center, where you can have a lunch or aperitif in front of the beaches in one of the chiochetto as We call them, basically a kind of cafe.
If you don't have a car don't worry buses work until 2am and you can catch them from Roma Street to go to Poetto Beach. From this Street is very easy moving as is in the heart of the city in front of the port, and buses go by every 10 minutes.
Even if You like Bike you can rent it from Sassari street or Sardegna street, there are also in the city center.
Cagliari is famous for churches, museums as well.
This city is in Italy, so is a must enjoy food a lot, even if You take some weight and you are a single woman doesn't matter, Italian men love it.
Enjoy Cagliari.
