⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Walking NYC : Canarsie, Brooklyn via Rockaway Parkway to Canarsie Pier

Google Maps Route:

I exit an (L) Train at the Canarsie - Rockaway Parkway Station and walk along Rockaway Parkway to the edge of Brooklyn at Canarsie Pier.

From Wikipedia:
Canarsie (/kəˈnɑːrsi/ kə-NAR-see) is a working- and middle-class residential and commercial neighborhood in the southeastern portion of the borough of Brooklyn, in New York City, United States. Canarsie is bordered on the east by Fresh Creek Basin, East 108th Street, and the BMT Canarsie Line (L train); on the north by Linden Boulevard; on the west by Remsen Avenue to Ralph Avenue and the Paerdegat Basin; and on the south by Jamaica Bay. It is adjacent to the East Flatbush, Flatlands, Mill Basin, Bergen Beach, and East New York neighborhoods.

The area near Canarsie was originally settled by the Canarse Native Americans. The community's name is adapted from a Lenape word meaning fenced area. After European settlement, Canarsie was initially a fishing community, but became a popular summer resort in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. By the late 1930s and early 1940, the resorts had been destroyed, and Canarsie was developed as a largely white Italian American and Jewish suburb. In the 1970s, racial tensions developed around an argument over the zoning of the area's schools, and in the aftermath, Canarsie became a mainly black neighborhood with a high Caribbean and West Indian population in the late 1990s.

Canarsie is part of Brooklyn Community District 18 and its primary ZIP Codes are 11234 and 11236. It is patrolled by the 69th Precinct of the New York City Police Department. Politically it is represented by the New York City Council's 42nd and 46th Districts.

New York City 4K | Driving Around Brooklyn [Canarsie]

New York City 4K | Driving Around Brooklyn [Canarsie] 👉Driving around Brooklyn Canarsie is always an adventure.
🏆Join our channel to get access to perks: 🏆

👉 When you're close to the water the traffic is always a bit heavier, since cargo ships, ferries, and other watercraft sometimes need to traverse the bay. For those of you who aren't familiar with the area, Canarsie is a relatively poor neighborhood in South Brooklyn that lies just north of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. This is especially true in the vicinity of Flatlands Avenue, which runs through Canarsie's heart. The area is among the most interesting in Brooklyn, both architecturally and culturally, and offers some of the best ethnic food you'll find anywhere in the city.

👉Surrounded by industrial sites and miles of open water on three sides, Canarsie has traditionally been viewed as a working-class community. But that's changing. With the waterfront now rapidly transforming from a no-man's land into a vibrant, 24/7 neighborhood, there are new housing, commercial and cultural developments coming to the area. Some welcome, some not. Residents are pushing for greater community input during the planning stages.

👉No talking, just driving👉The camera was mounted outside and you could hear the raw sounds of the City.👉30-minute beautiful drive - smooth binaural sounds workout for treadmill walking, jogging or running training🚘

Flatbush Brooklyn, Little Caribbean | Where Should I Eat with Ellie Sachs

Flatbush is one of Brooklyn's most diverse neighborhoods. Known for its Caribbean restaurants, bakeries, and bars, there are a lot of places to grab a bite in the area. Local comedian Ellie Sachs took to the street to find out from the locals the answer to an age-old question, where should I eat around here? Ellie got a chance to check out some of the best restaurants in Flatbush with Shelley Worrel, co-founder of Caribbeing, and discussed how a section of Flatbush got the name Little Carribean.
