Albion Mauritius, more than just a light house

We visit Albion on the West Coast of Mauritius. Well known for its lighthouse we decide to explore the rest of it. With 2 huge beaches, a great lookout point, a strange chimney, and some awesome food, it is worthwhile exploring the less know area.

Grand River South East Mauritius Vlog

We explore the Grand River South East area or GRSE as everyone seems to call it. We started at the dock where we met a local guy Steve with his boat, Andre. We then walked around the Laguna Beach Hotel and flew the drone over it. Next up was the hunt for food.

Luckily an old BMW 318i stopped us at a great snack shop called Site shop on Google maps. We ate great fish roti and the best-fried chicken in Mauritius. A quick stop at the fish landing and ferry point to look around. I got some solar-powered ice cream.

We continued and got to a lookout point full of monkeys and met Louis. We flew the drone over the waterfall and then headed to the sugar mill, Deep water Beau champ. It was an epic adventure.

Exploring Africa's Strangest Country (Djibouti)

Have you ever heard of the country called DJIBOUTI? If not, don't feel embarrassed... because it's a very tiny country in the Horn of Africa that gets minimal tourism -- roughly 70,000 visitors per year.

Over the last 2 days, I have explored every facet of the capital & biggest city called Djibouti City. I find this place to be the most interesting country in Africa.

Here are some of my quick realizations:

- It's VERY EXPENSIVE -- I have spent more than $400 in the last 2 days and I haven't done much other than walk around, take a few taxis, eat 4 meals & sleep (keep in mind my visa was $90 and my hotel was $105).

- Walking around the streets feels very much like France, from the colonization period that started in 1884 and ended in 1977. The people here speak French (first), Arabic (second) and English (third, if any at all).

- There is a LOT OF SECURITY everywhere -- police/military guards standing on every corner (literally) with giant guns strapped to their backs. It is kind of crazy and very intimidating, but safe.

- About a quarter of Djibouti's population (~250,000 people) are living in extreme poverty, which is more extreme than you'd think given that this country is so expensive. A massive contrast between rich & poor.

All of my thoughts on this mysterious country, and more, are in this video. Have you ever been to Djibouti?

Driving in Mauritius from La Vanille Nature Park to Le Récif Attitude Hotel Via Curepipe and Phoenix

One of our longer drives in Mauritius today. Leaving the zoo La Vanille Nature Park before driving down some very pot holed roads, then stopping at KFC Curepipe then Phoenix Mall before getting petrol at Shell on the junction of A4 and B41 and returning to our hotel Le Récif Attitude Hotel. This 75KM drive took just under two hours due to it being late afternoon and the start of rush hour traffic just as it seemed schools are leaving for the day but not too bad considering some days. This was filmed Monday 19th June 2023 while driving a rented 2022 Toyota Urban Cruiser from penguin rentals. This one took a while to do all the time stamps as more than normal but I hope you enjoy!

Discover Mauritius An Island Of Emotion Unravel Travel TV

Mauritius in the Indian Ocean is know for its sparkling crystal and turquoise waters. The contrast of colours, cultures and tastes makes the island a location for an unforgettable holiday. Mauritius offers the opportunity to unparalleled luxury, a level of refinement that is ahead of many other other tropical holiday destinations. Mauritius was named after Dutch Prince Maurice Van Nassau.

Mauritius' white beaches are protected by a coral reef barrier that encircles almost all of the coastline, with the exception of the southern end, where it falls away and where wilder waters and dramatic cliffs can be observed. From the northern plains, the land rises to a central plateau dotted by lakes and extinct volcanic craters. A few uninhabited islets area are scattered around the main island.

Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius, was founded by the French governor and colonist Bertrand-François Mahé de La Bourdonnais in 1735. Situated on the north-west coast, Port Louis is the business and administrative capital of Mauritius. Packed with office-workers during the day, it quickly quietens down after office-hours allowing visitors to enjoy a night out along the famous Caudan Waterfront.

The south reveals a dramatically different landscape from the rest of the island: one typified by high cliffs in places that are battered by waves. These are created where the protective barrier of coral reef that surrounds Mauritius falls away on the seabed, so leaving the coastline exposed to a punishing Indian Ocean. But the south is not singularly about cliffs and rough waters. Further round the coastline, heading westwards, are an array of beautiful beaches and top-rate hotels and resorts, in up-and-coming areas such as Bel Ombre.

The eastern coastline of Mauritius is comprised of exquisite coves and emerald lagoons, permanently enhanced by a cool sea breeze: life goes by at a slow pace in the east whether you're a member of the fishing community or a holidaymaker. Situated between the mountains and the sea, the east is characterised by charming little villages with poetic names like Petite Julie, Mare d'Australia and Queen Victoria. It also plays home to some of the country's best beaches, including Belle Mare, where you will want to spend hours basking in the sun, glorying in the sight of the long stretch of white sand.

To the west and south west of Mauritius off Tamarin Bay or Flic en Flac, heading in the direction of Île aux Benitiers, you can see the dolphins that come to these waters to rest and breed. The Morne Mountain, with its historical links to slavery, can also be found in this region --as well as some fine hotels known for their wide choice of watersports. Slightly inland, in the hills around Chamarel, is the rum distillery that bears the name of the village. Here, you can learn about rum production and taste some of the delightful produce.

Inland & Central Plateau of Mauritius is the 'highlands' where you will discover the island's four other major towns. In Quatre Bornes, head for the local market if you want to do some bargain-hunting. In Curepipe, where it is generally cooler than elsewhere on the island, try visiting the botanical gardens. In the early evening the gardens of the Plaza -- the municipal theatre of the town of Rose Hill -- fill up with families who come to relax and enjoy an ice--cream. This is a heart-warming sight definitely worth beholding. Vacoas, meanwhile, is most renowned for its Gymkhana Golf Club the oldest in the southern hemisphere.

PLOGGING ADVENTURE | We explored some small waterfalls behind EUREKA HOUSE

Welcome to the Curious Adventurer channel!

Today we went on a #plogging trip to explore and clean up some waterfalls surroundings, Eureka House, a Créole residence originally owned by British and French aristocrats in the 19th century.

This unique Creole house built in 1830 located by the river of Moka and now serves as a museum. The visit of the Eureka House, commonly known as Maison Eureka, and its grounds provides an intriguing glimpse into colonial life. The house is filled with antiques and photos of the period. It also has a magnificent garden surrounded by many small waterfalls.

Unfortunately, upon a recent visit we found out that the surroundings had been polluted by solid and plastic waste. Being part of a sustainable initiative called @plogupmoris, with an aim at keeping our nature and beaches clean, we decided that this hiking adventure should also be a plogging session. As a curious adventurer and together with some friends, we went on a mission to clean up behind Eureka House. We URGE everyone who visit these unique and beautiful places to think before throwing away your trash. There are lives being affected by it!

Plogging playlist:

I hope you enjoy these adventures and do feel free to share yours and I will most certainly watch them.

Until our next adventure, please subscribe to my channel and press the bell button to stay notified about my new videos!
