Aproveitando a facilidade de entrar na Angola com o novo visto eletrônico, resolvi encarar por conta própria uma viagem de bicicleta por esse país lusófono. Assim, comprei uma bike chinesa em Luanda, e de lá parti até Namibe, no sul do país. Acompanhe essa jornada de desafios e recompensas na mini-série Angola by Bike.

Caluquembe (Segunda parte)
Caluquembe - Reencontro de amigos
A câmara de filmar foi-me emprestada e estava limitada a uma bateria e uma cassete de 1 hora. Às vezes encontrava-me, só, e não foi possível, recolher cenas e momentos indescritíveis.
Quando surgiam não tinha bateria, e quando tinha bateria não havia nada para captar. Só podia carregar a bateria na Missão Católica de Santiago, onde havia electricidade das 19:00 às 21:00 Horas.
Para todos os que viveram em Caluquembe, ou por esta vila passaram, não podia deixar de partilhar as imagens que colhi, quando lá estive em Dezembro de 2003.
O momento mais marcante, da minha viagem à minha terra natal, foi o reencontro com dois grandes amigos: Chingando e Isabel. Quando o Chingando me reconheceu, não me deu tempo de pousar a câmara, ficando esta, a filmar o chão, enquanto em lágrimas me abraçava. A Isabel, desatou num pranto, sendo esta a forma que encontrou, para exteriorizar a sua emoção.

Mussulo (Portuguese: Ilha do Mussulo) is a peninsula located south of Luanda. It is part of the municipality of Belas, province of Luanda. It is actually a spit created by sediments from the Cuanza River, moved north by the Benguela Current. It is about 30 km long, at most 3 km wide, and at the narrowest parts in the south of the peninsula, less than 100 metres.

Cycling Angola
Cycling 2800 KM in Angola in February and March 2014, the most positive surprise among my whole Trans-African journey.
This video features the 12-hour chata trip around the Congo river mouth between Cabinda and Soyo, the sand road until N'zeto, the new roads in the mountains of Quibaxe and Golungo Alto, the non-existent roads and dugout canoe passages in the Landos around Kixinge and Longanhia, the mountain roads around Uku-Seles, Lubango, its carnival, Christo-rei and Tundavala, the Serra-da-Leba road, the last rains of the rainy season in the Cunene province around Otchinjau, and some big caterpillars.
What the video doesn't say is that with Dave (at 16:15), we needed 2-3 hours to clean the sticky mud from the 50-meter stretch between our tents and the gravel road. Nor does it say that I have been taken to police stations almost every day for looking suspicious (and for being a cycle-tourist, or for taking pictures (for example, of the valley at 10:10) without authorization).
