Top 10 PRETTIEST Towns in CAMBRIDGESHIRE

What are the 10 prettiest towns in the county of Cambridgeshire? To determine this, I visited them all. Here's what I found out.

As a disclaimer, this list is neither a social commentary, nor a guide on which are the nicest towns to live, but purely a judgement on the aesthetics of each respective town centre.

Kenilworth Castle And Elizabethan Garden - 🏰 English Heritage

Welcome to Kenilworth Castle in the county of Warwickshire. The property is looked after by English Heritage.

For more rural treasures try these videos:-
Stowe Landscape Gardens
Upton House and Gardens

Situated not far from the M40 and M42 motorways, the castle has its own car park with a small charge for non-members (English Heritage). I booked my tickets online via the castle's website. Tickets are currently allocated on arrival time slots.

Apart from the ruins, other attractions include museum displays, Elizabethan Garden, and tearooms in the stable block. Half a day is plenty to explore.

In this video follow me as I show you some of the seaside towns in South Wales.

There is a lot more to see and do on the coast between Cardiff and the Gower however I brushed over it because the real fun starts at the Gower and west of it. So part 2 of this video is where the real fun will begin.

I purposely missed out the Brecon Beacons National Park, because on this video I wanted to focus on the coastline. I thought I'd leave the Brecon Beacons for another video.

The places I visit in this video are:
- Cardiff
- Barry Island
- Porthcawl
- Swansea Bay and Mumbles
- The Gower
- Wisemans Bridge

CALDICOT CASTLE, WALES JULY 2019

Caldicot Castle, Church Road Caldicot NP26 4HU

Caldicot Castle in its beautiful setting of tranquil gardens and a wooded country park. Founded by the Normans, developed in royal hands as a stronghold in the Middle Ages and restored as a Victorian family home, the castle has a romantic and colourful history

In 90 Seconds - Most Beautiful Castles in Wales

Wales may be one of the smallest countries in the United Kingdom but still has its own rich traditions and history.

Castles are a major part of this history and can be found all over the stunning Welsh landscape. There are well over 400 castles in Wales, more than anywhere else in the world!

Here are some of the most beautiful castles in Wales:

1. Conwy Castle

Located along the northern coast of Wales, Conwy Castle dates back to the time of King Edward I. It was built during his conquest, between 1283 and 1289. With its iconic round towers, it is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

2. Caernarfon Castle

The colossal Caernarfon Castle was also built in the 13th century by King Edward I along the sea. In 1301, Edward gave his son and heir the castle, and the title Prince of Wales, a tradition which still exists.

3. Harlech Castle

Another of Edward I’s castles, Harlech Castle was built between 1283 and1295. This concentric sandstone castle was besieged during the Wars of the Roses and during the English Civil War. The damage was never repaired.

4. Cardiff Castle

Cardiff Castle was originally a 3rd-century Roman fort, a Norman Castle was later built atop it in the 11th century, followed by a larger (and more lavish) Victorian Gothic castle built by the third Marquess of Bute in the 19th century.

5. Pembroke Castle

Pembroke Castle is famous for being the birthplace of Henry VII in 1457. Originally a Norman fort built in 1093, it was fortified in the 12th century. The castle is located near the prehistoric Wogan Cave.

6. Caerphilly Castle

Caerphilly Castle is the largest castle in Wales, and the second largest in the UK after Windsor Castle. Covering over 30 acres, it was built in the 13th century by Gilbert de Clare, a Norman nobleman.

7. Powis Castle

Powis Castle stands out due to its red stone exterior. Originally built in the early 13th century it has had several alterations over the years, including the 17th-century baroque gardens.

8. Castell Coch

Just outside Cardiff, along the River Taff, sits Castell Coch, or the “Red Castle”. While the original foundations date back several centuries, the present castle was built in the 19th-century by William Burges for the third Marquess of Bute.

9. Beaumaris Castle

The perfectly symmetric concentric walls of Beaumaris Castle in North Wales was also a product of Edward I. Although it was left unfinished, it is noted for its technical brilliance.

10. Raglan Castle

Raglan Castle was begun in the 1430s by Sir William ap Thomas, the Blue Knight of Gwent. It is known for its large hexagonal keep, known as the Great Tower.

Caerphilly Castle - Places To See In Wales, Episode1

We visit the largest castle in Wales in the first episode of our new series “Places To See In Wales” We’ll be taking a look at some famous and not so famous places around our home country of Wales.

Caerphilly Castle is a is medieval castle just north of Cardiff in South Wales. It was built in the 13th century by Gilbert de Clare. It was used as a base to conquer Glamorganshire and there was extensive fighting between Gilbert and the Welsh.

The castle is in the centre of the town and there are great views around the area. It costs £8.50 (Dec 18) to enter the castle and it’s big enough to spend a couple of hours there. #VisitWales

One of the most striking things about the castle is the leaning south east tower. It leans at 10 degrees, there is some debate as to whether the damage was caused during the English Civil War or as a result of subsidence when the castle fell into disrepair.

Caerphilly Castle has been used as a location for many TV and film productions including many episodes of Dr Who, Wolf Hall and Restoration with Robert Downey Jr.
