Boat trip through Cát Bà Vietnam
We started one of our mornings in Cát Bà by joining a local fisherman for a boat trip. My mom was walking on the pier earlier that morning and was offered to go. After figuring out prices we decided to join him for a ride. Our boat driver spoke very little English and we spoke very little Vietnamese, which meant we had no idea where we were going or what was happening 😂
After a hour of exploring Lan Ha Bay, we arrived at Freedom Island Retreat on Cát Ông Island. We found the host of the island, had drinks, played with the dog, and enjoyed many games of volleyball.
Once we arrived back to the Cát Bà pier we encountered a group of boys looking over the edge. One of whom had kicked a football into the water. From what we could tell by talking with them, is that most of them could not swim or could not get wet. I figured what's a better way to invite yourself to the local game than rescuing their ball 😂 Us three boys finished the night with many games of football and fun memories with new friends.

In this video we will explore the beautiful island of Cat Ba together with you.
We spent 4 days on Cat Ba island, where we were exploring different caves, beautiful beaches, the National Park and also took a boat tour through Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay, which was absolutely stunning.
You will see, that a trip to Halong bay does not have to be expensive. We will share our tips, on how to do Halong Bay on a budget.
Overall, we were super surprised by the beauty of Cat Ba Island and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting Vietnam.
