Buchach town. Ukraine. Town Hall. Basilian monastery. Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary

Buchach is a town, district center of Ternopil region of Ukraine. Magdeburg (German) city law was obtained at the end of the fourteenth century or in 1393.
Many of the famous Buchach's buildings were co-sponsored by the Potocki family.

Buchach Town Hall is a cult building, a monument of architecture of national importance in Buchach. It was built in the distant 1750-1751 in the Baroque style. Initially, the facade was decorated with 14 figures; images taken from the Bible and ancient mythology of the work of the famous sculptor Johann George Pinzel; images taken from the Bible and ancient mythology. The sculptures are marked by the expression of the plastic language and the dynamism of the composition; carved of monolithic limestone, where there are inserts. Unfortunately, the town hall suffered a fire in 1865. Much of the magnificent sculptural decoration was destroyed. It is planned that copies of the statues, which will be executed by modern Lviv masters, will take place at the town hall. The originals of the surviving sculptural ensembles are stored in the museum.

The Basilian monastery in Buchach is located on the slopes of Mount Fedir. The central structure of the complex is the Church of the Holy Cross, erected on the site of the dismantled church in 1751-1761. It was built in the late Baroque style. To the church in 1761-1771, on the left, two-storeyed buildings of the monastery were completed. And on the right is the school building. The Basilian monastery repeatedly suffered heavy fires. But it has been restored to the smallest detail and today is one of the business cards of Buchach.

Buchach Castle is a monument of architecture of all-Ukrainian significance. Now it has only ruins left, but once its walls were a formidable fortification against the invaders. The first mention of the castle dates back to 1379, when in 1372-1379 Michal Adwaniec (n / a-1392) built a castle and church in Buchach.

Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a cult building, a monument of architecture of national importance. The current parish church of one of the oldest in Lviv archdiocese of Buchach parish of the Chortkiv dean of the RCC. It was built in 1761-1763 on the site of the dismantled headquarters. In the tympanum of the pediment contains a copy of Raphael Santi's Sistine Madonna, the original of which is now in the Dresden Art Gallery. The exterior decoration of the church is quite modest, but the interior of the church is very luxurious, Baroque style.

Ukraine (Ukrainian: Україна, romanized: Ukrayina, pronounced [ʊkrɐˈjinɐ] (About this soundlisten)) is a country in Eastern Europe.[8] It is bordered by Russia to the north-east; Belarus to the north; Poland, Slovakia and Hungary to the west; and Romania, Moldova, and the Black Sea to the south. Ukraine is currently in a territorial dispute with Russia over the Crimean Peninsula, which Russia annexed in 2014.[9] Including the Crimean Peninsula, Ukraine has an area of 603,628 km2 (233,062 sq mi),[10] making it the second-largest country in Europe after Russia, and the 46th-largest country in the world. Excluding Crimea, Ukraine has a population of about 42 million,[3] making it the eighth or ninth-most populous country in Europe, and the 32nd-most populous country in the world. Its capital and largest city is Kiev. Ukrainian is the official language and its alphabet is Cyrillic. The dominant religion in the country is Eastern Orthodoxy.

The territory of modern Ukraine has been inhabited since 32,000 BC. During the Middle Ages, the area was a key centre of East Slavic culture, with the powerful state of Kievan Rus' forming the basis of Ukrainian identity. Following its fragmentation in the 13th century, the territory was contested, ruled and divided by a variety of powers, including the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire and Russia. A Cossack republic emerged and prospered during the 17th and 18th centuries, but its territory was eventually split between Poland and the Russian Empire. After World War II the Western part of Ukraine merged into the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, and the whole country became a part of the Soviet Union as a single state entity. In 1991, Ukraine gained its independence from the Soviet Union in the aftermath of its dissolution at the end of the Cold War. Before its independence, Ukraine was typically referred to in English as The Ukraine, but most sources have since moved to drop the from the name of Ukraine in all uses.[11]

Following its independence, Ukraine declared itself a neutral state;[12] it formed a limited military partnership with Russia and other CIS countries while also establishing a partnership with NATO in 1994. In 2013, after the government of President Viktor Yanukovych had decided to suspend the Ukraine-European Union Association Agreement and seek closer economic ties with Russia, a several-months-long wave of demonstrations and protests known as the Euromaidan began, which later escalated into the 2014 Ukrainian revolution that led to the overthrow of Yanukovych and the establishment of a new government. These events formed the background for the annexation of Crimea by Russia in March 2014, and the War in Donbass in April 2014. On 1 January 2016, Ukraine applied the economic component of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area with the European Union.[13]

Ukraine is a developing country and ranks 88th on the Human Development Index. As of 2018, Ukraine is the poorest country in Europe alongside Moldova in terms of GDP per capita. At US$40, it has the lowest median wealth per adult in the world,[note 1][14] and suffers from a very high poverty rate as well as severe corruption.[15] However, because of its extensive fertile farmlands, Ukraine is one of the world's largest grain exporters.[16][17] It also maintains the second-largest military in Europe after that of Russia. Ukraine is a unitary republic under a semi-presidential system with separate powers: legislative, executive and judicial branches. The country is a member of the United Nations, the Council of Europe, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the GUAM organization, and one of the founding states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Discover Ukraine. Krekhiv Monastery.

ENG:
Krekhiv (Ukrainian: Крехів, Polish: Krechów) is a village in the Lviv Oblast (Province) of Ukraine, located within the densely forested Roztochia Upland about 10 km west of Zhovkva and 50 km north of Lviv. The village is famous for its Basilian monastery which is a popular pilgrimage site.

The monastery was established in the 16th century by two monks from the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, Joel and Silvester, who settled in nearby caves. Around 1612 or 1618 the owner of Zhovkva, Stanisław Żółkiewski offered the monks land to build their monastery, later surrounded with fortifications during the second half of the 17th century to defend it from roaming Tatar hordes. In the 18th century the monastery'ss prosperity rose and wooden buildings were replaced with stone ones which stand there today. At the beginning of the 19th century it suffered from the policies of Austrian emperor Joseph, however by the end of the century it was one of the main centers of the rebirth of Ukrainian monasticism.

The hardest time for Krekhiv came with the advent of Soviet occupation in 1939; by 1949 the monastery was closed and many of the monks were martyred in Soviet prisons while others had to live undercover. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, the monastery was reopened on 29 August 1990 and the complex has undergone a thorough renovation.

The monastery is known for its miracle working icons of the Mother of God and of St. Nicholas. The largest annual pilgrimage to Krekhiv is held on the Feast of the Translation of St. Nicholas on May 22 (May 9 according to the Julian calendar).

UA:

My darlings, as I told you in my Oslo vlog, from there I traveled to Sofia, Bulgaria for a two-day long business trip.
I didn't have much time to vlog but wanted to share this experience with you nonetheless. Sofia is a beautiful vibrant city, where one can find not only historical sights and parks but also wonderful places to eat and grab a drink, do some shopping and buy numerous skincare products made on the base of rose water, the pride of Bulgaria. So even if this vlog is short, I hope you will like it.

Yalta, Crimea - Ukraine May Holidays

- A church procession down the streets of Yalta during May Holidays. May holidays usually start at the beginning of May and go all the way up to Victory Day on May 7. Yalta during the May holidays is definitely something to see. It can be a bit crowded during this time of the season so book a hotel or apartment early for best availability and prices. Apartments are generally really nice in this area and it is hard to find something that is not up to western standards. Most accommodations are in walking distance of the seaside.

VIETNAM TRAVEL DIARY - HO CHI MINH CITY AND RAIN (OCTOBER 2019)

My darlings, if you saw my previous travel diary from Hanoi, a.k.a. the first part of my Asia trip in October 2019, you know that from Hanoi I flew to Ho Chi Minh City (or Saigon). However, my luck with good weather (which was amazing in Hanoi) has ended and, between work meetings and torrential rains, I got to see very little of the city. I really hope to come back there very soon and actually do some sightseeing during the day.
I hope you will enjoy this video nonetheless. Please, remember to subscribe and see you in my next video, as our next stop is Bangkok!
