Singapore’s Best Secret Cheap Getaway (Batam, Indonesia 2023 Update)
Batam is an island in Indonesia just a short ferry ride from Singapore, and it’s popular with local Singaporeans and Malaysians for a quick budget getaway. When I first researched Indonesia, I was surprised that there was not a ton of info about Batam on YouTube, so I see this as Singaporean's best-kept secret getaway.
My husband and I liked it for several reasons mentioned in this video. Batam Island is perfect for travelers who want to relax, eat, and do some shopping. We were not looking for major landmarks or exciting excursions per se with this trip, but we loved our visit! Watch this to see if it's right for you.

Before the Lunar New Year of 2024, due to my mother's sudden decision to travel to Bali and Jakarta, Indonesia, I came to the Pantai Indah Kapuk(PIK) area in the north of Jakarta. I intended to find a well-equipped apartment as our temporary residence in Jakarta. I chose Oakwood Apartments PIK. I am pleased with the apartment's facilities and the beautiful environment in the neighborhood. Additionally, I explored the nearby China town, markets, supermarkets, and the intriguing Mangrove Park, along with the charming The Cove @PIK and Land’s End @PIK2. I love the excellent location, convenient community atmosphere, and the vibrant Chinese cultural ambiance here. I believe this choice will not disappoint me
