EUREKA: Best kept secret in NorCal. Historic seaside town, night market, best oysters in the world 
I came up to Eureka for the weekend to attend a festival (if you know, You know) This little coastal California town is such a contrast to Los Angeles. The people are nicer, the air is cleaner and of best of all its Less congested.
By chance, I booked a stay in a beautiful historical hotel that was built in the 1920s. It wasn't until afterwards that i found out about the ghost stories. I did have some odd experiences but I didn't think much about them at the time. The first night I stayed here, I was woken by a single cry from what I assumed was an infant. I went back to sleep just as fast as I woke up. later I thought to myself.. Single cry? that's odd.
I also heard some one coming down the stairs as I walked by them to wait for the elevator. No one ever appeared. Again I though odd but maybe they just forgot something and turned back.
The night market was also a coincidence. It was a pleasant surprise for sure. The locals are easy to talk to, I met a person that not only directed me to Humboldt provisions but also explained why the oysters in the area are the best. There is so much history and natural beauty in the area. Wish I would have stayed longer
