fo guang shan nan hua temple is the largest Buddhist temple and seminary in Africa, and is situated in the Cultura Park suburb of Bronkhorstspruit, South Africa.
The Temple can trace its roots back to 8 March 1992, when the Bronkhorstspruit City Council, under its chief executive and former church minister, Dr Hennie Senekal, who had previously visited Taiwan to promote investment opportunities in his town, donated six hectares of land to the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Order for a Chinese Buddhist cultural and educational complex.

Located about 80km from Joburg, in Bronkhorstspruit, Nan Hua is a beautiful and serene Buddhist temple, an architectural marvel. This makes it a must visit day trip when you’re in the area!
As soon as you enter, you will feel transported to Asia and actually physically be able to sense the tranquillity here. The temple itself is divided into a number of main and smaller temples, each with their own significance. In fact, everything here has a symbolic meaning. The lillies along every pathway, for example, symbolise spiritual rebirth. The sculpture of the lion before every entrance within the temples demonstrates strength and protection.
Once inside the temples, you will find explanations for every carving of Buddha within them. It was honestly so riveting to see the similarities in foundational beliefs of peace, harmony, and spiritual enlightenment for all. The temple also has a vegetarian restaurant, a tea house, and a gift shop.
As with any other places of worship, we remind you to be respectful of the few rules they have in place (like not taking pictures inside and removing your shoes).

Bass fishing challenge at Bronkhorstspruit Dam, South Africa (Oct 2018) - Ned Rig vs Flukes
So we visited Bronkhorstspruit Dam, South Africa, recently to do some bass fishing (Oct 2018). To make things interesting we decided to have a little competition where I would be fishing exclusively with a ned rig (links below) and Linky basically fished with any kind of fluke she wanted.
Despite it being a tough day for bass (only 8) the competition turned out being a lot of fun, and something we'll be repeating in future videos.

The Hartbeespoort Aerial Cableway (or Harties Cableway), originally constructed in 1973, is a 1.2 km long cableway that extends to the top of the Magaliesberg and offers panoramic views of the Magaliesberg, Hartbeespoort Dam and the surrounding area. It is situated 1 km to the north of the town of Hartbeespoort in the North West Province, and is the longest mono-cableway in Africa.[1] In 2010 the cableway was completely revamped and modernised by Zargodox (Pty) Ltd, and officially reopened on 14 August 2010 by the then Minister of Tourism Marthinus van Schalkwyk.[2] The aerial cableway is open seven days a week.[3]

Jacarandas were introduced to Pretoria and later Johannesburg in the early 1800s, specifically as ornamentals to line the streets of the suburbs and central business districts. Octogenarian residents who have lived in Gauteng their whole life might remember that jacarandas did not always flower in September.
