Biograd na moru is a city and a municipality located in northern Dalmatia in Croatia and is significant for being the former capital of the medieval Croatian Kingdom. Biograd is administratively part of the Zadar County. It is located on the coast of the Adriatic sea, overlooking the island of Pašman, on the road from Zadar and Sukošan towards Vodice and Šibenik.
The white town on the sea
The town's native Croat name fully translates as the white town on the sea. Biograd na moru was once considered the crown city of Croatian kings. But today it is a well-recognized nautical and tourist center situated at the very heart of the Adriatic coast. The city, tailored to suit everyone’s preferences, lies on the peninsula surrounded by a promenade and contemporary marinas from which a memorable view can be seen all the way to the Pašman Channel and islets scattered in it.
Thanks to its decades-long tradition in tourism, colorful heritage and tourist offer, culinary specialties, and sporting events, Biograd has become an attractive holiday destination. 5. Dražica beach
The Blue Flag has been waving on Dražica beach since 2006, validating the clean sea, numerous facilities, and quality service of this Biograd beach. The beach is set along a beautifully arranged promenade with many cafes, restaurants and shops and stalls. 4.Camping Park Soline
Situated in the shade of a thick pinewood, next to a sandy and pebble beach, covering around 15 ha of attractive plots for accommodation of campers, camping trailer and tents, that gradually descend towards the coast. The auto camp is situated near Biograd, which can be easily reached if you stroll down the newly built sea promenade along the most attractive Biograd beaches.
3. Nature park Lake Vrana (Park prirode Vransko jezero)
Vrana Lake, as the largest lake in Croatia, offers not only archaeological sites, rich history, and beautiful nature. There are six educational paths that run along the entire nature park. Our 5 Reasons to visit Biograd na Moru, Croatia
1) The Location and Setting
Biograd is located directly at the Dalmatian coast with a view on the Island Pasman. There are hundrets of Restaurants and Cafes where you can get an Espresso for as little as 80 cents.
2) Less Touristy version of Split and Dubrovnik. If you arrive in June there are basically no tourists and the Accommodation is a lot cheaper! Obviously since the pandemic there has also been a steep decline in tourism, which has resulted in much less people around the area too.
3) Perfect base to explore the surroundings.
You can easily access the Island Pasman, Vransko Jezero, Sibenik, Kornati Islands etc.
There is a daily bus which you can get from as little as 3 euro per ticket to a wide variety of destinations around Biograd, as well as the Jadrolinija boats which will take you to beautiful islands nearby for around 4 euro per person.
4) Rich History
Biograd was taken over by the Venetians twice and was a huge strategic point for the War of Independence. Biograd was bombed repeatedly in the war of independence along with many other coastal cities as these places were seen as perfect strategic points for enemies of Croatia.
5) Sunsets
Every single evening you can witness insane Sunsets that are out of this world!
We recommend you grab a coffee and head to the sea for a sunset swim and take in the final rays with your feet wet.

Lumbrak beach in Biograd na Moru is located in a beautiful bay. Lumbrak beach is a pebble and rocky beach with plenty of natural shade from the pine forest. This is a Robinson type of beach, because apart from the sea and the sun, there are no other facilities on the beach. This is absurd since it is close to this Red Beach beach resort that offers bathers everything you can imagine. Otherwise, Lumbrak beach is connected with FKK beach Biograd and they are divided only by the official FKK sign. If you want to get to the beach Lumbrak by car, start from Biograd in the direction of Crvena Luka, but behind the Fun Park Mirnovec turn right and in about one kilometer you will reach the beach. There is no parking on the beach, but you can park your car somewhere in the bushes around the beach.
By the way, many yachtsmen come to this bay and anchor nearby and swim, because the sea is extremely clean. Many of them are nudists, so on the beach you can see nudists and swimmers wearing swimsuits.

To explore Croatia by sea is to reveal its true secrets. Croatia has it all - the range of sailing options, the spectacular scenery, the unspoiled bays, the myriad islands, and, most importantly, clear, calm, and clean waters around them. With more than 1.000 islands making for the most indented coast on the Mediterranean, picturesque little villages on the islands rich in history and culture, world-class food and wine, well-preserved nature and mild climate it is no wonder Croatia became the world's top sailing destination and it is not an exaggeration to say that sailing in Croatia is now at the top of every travel bucket list.
Dalmatia is a paradise for sailing. There are several inhabited and uninhabited islands, and the lands are ideal for hiking. The pleasant Mediterranean climate and the atmosphere of the special historic towns together provide you with a high-quality recreation and an unforgettable experience. The meaning of Biograd na Moru is “a white city at the sea”. The town that has about 6,000 residents can be found on a peninsula. You can choose from several hiking routes starting from here.
Docking in Biograd na Moru
The town has two adjoined marinas that share one entrance underwater. Marina Sangulin and Marina Kornati combined have 1,000 moorings. They are well-equipped and spacious. There is a petrol station nearby, and the Konzum mall can also be found in the neighborhood; here you can do your weekly shopping easily.
Sights in Biograd na Moru
A boardwalk starts at the docks where there are several restaurants, cafes, and shops. The town was struck by several troublesome historic events, but the old city has remained amazing.
The archipelago of Biograd na Moru and its neighboring areas
Some of the islands in the Northern Dalmatian territory are uninhabited, while there are cozy Mediterranean towns with residents on the larger ones. The islands are located parallel to the land in smaller groups. The territory of the islands of Zadar is 378,7 square miles altogether, which constitutes 11,9% of the entire territory of the Croatian islands. Larges islands include Vir, Ugljan, Pasman, and Brigada.
The Kornati can be found slightly further – they are the most rugged and popular archipelago of the Mediterranean Sea; the more significant islands are Dugi Otok, Rava, Iz, Sestrunjm Molat, Ist, Skarda, and a little further, Olib, Silba, and Premuda.
The area is diverse, and we will have an amazing experience regardless of where we dock. The climate is perfect, the seawater is warm and crystal clear – this should be more than enough for a wonderful trip for those who love the sea.
