🇲🇽 LOS MOCHIS, Sinaloa | NOT What You'd EXPECT from MEXICO! | Northern Mexico TRAVEL 2022
🇲🇽 LOS MOCHIS, Sinaloa - Welcome to Part 11 of my 2022 Northern Mexico Travel series! After jumping on the Chepe Express train from Creel, Chihuahua, after spending four weeks in the state in cities like Ciudad Juárez and Parral, I’m now BACK in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, after visiting here briefly in 2021 (but I was sick so couldn’t film!). It’s NOT what you’d expect from Mexico, that’s for sure!
I’m not going to lie, Los Mochis probably isn’t a city you would purposely visit on a vacation (or maybe it is), but, along with Mazatlán and Culiacán, it really does offer a lot, particularly if you are looking to experience a more modern side of Mexico, with fewer colonial buildings. Go against the toxic obligation to ONLY visit historical and pretty places in Mexico! Everywhere has history!
We visit the amazing botanical garden, centro, the old sugar refinery and have some classic fast food (not home-cooked by an abuelita and not particularly special comida mexicana at Los Nachos (mexican food) - really going against the grain here!). We also discuss safety in Mexico, particularly for women - is Sinaloa safe? Is Mexico dangerous? I’ve never had an issue in Sinaloa or felt unsafe - but I’m a single male.
If you’re hoping to be an expat or thinking about moving to Mexico, there’s more to the country than Guanajuato or San Miguel de Allende! Consider northern states! They are brilliant!

High-definition Big Horn Mts. scenic drive, Part 1
Join us on a high-definition journey through the Big Horn Mountains of northern Wyoming. In part 1, we start on the prairie, near the town of Dayton, at the northeastern corner of the mountain range. Starting at 4200ft, we ascend from the foothills into the mid-elevations of the range, where forested canyons and ancient sedimentary rock (such as limestone, shale, and sandstone) are apparent. Forests juniper, ponderosa pine, and mountain mahogany are more extensive on the eastern slopes due to summer rains from Gulf of Mexico moisture.
The video ends at a scenic overlook at 6500ft where the driving route can be seen on the grassland far below; the towns of Dayton and Ranchester are also visible (5:57). Be sure to join us for Part 2 as we pass through the higher elevations of the range!
LEVEL III Ecoregions (represented by a number, such as 43 for NW Great Plains)
LEVEL IV Ecoregions (represented by a letter, such as v for Pryor-Big Horn Foothills)

Wilson's Creek National Battlefield - 2nd Major Battle of the US Civil War Travels With Phil
The Battle of Wilson's Creek, also known as the Battle of Oak Hills, was the first major battle of the Trans-Mississippi Theater of the American Civil War. It was the second major battle of the American Civil War after Bull Run/Manassas in Virginia. It was fought on August 10, 1861, near Springfield, Missouri. Missouri was officially a neutral state, but its governor, Claiborne Fox Jackson, supported the South and secretly collaborated with Confederate troops..
Wilson's Creek National Battlefield, located near Republic, Missouri, preserves the site of the Battle of Wilson's Creek. In the battle, a Confederate army commanded by Benjamin McCulloch and Sterling Price defeated a smaller Union army commanded by Nathaniel Lyon. However, the Confederates were unable to hold much of Missouri, and a Confederate defeat at the Battle of Pea Ridge effectively solidified Union control of the state. Major features include a five-mile automobile tour loop, the restored 1852 Ray House, and Bloody Hill, the site of the final stage of the battle. The site is located near Republic in southwestern Missouri just southwest of the city of Springfield .
According to the National Park Service: On Bloody Hill, at about 9:30 a.m., General Lyon, who had been wounded twice already, was killed while positioning his troops. Major Samuel Sturgis assumed command of the Federal forces and by 11 a.m., with ammunition nearly exhausted, ordered a withdrawal to Springfield. The Battle of Wilson's Creek was over. Losses were heavy and about equal on both sides--1,317 for the Federals, 1,222 for the Southerners. Though victorious on the field, the Southerners were not able to pursue the Union forces. Lyon lost the battle and his life, but he achieved his goal: Missouri remained under Union control. - Travels with Phil copyrighted by Phil Konstantin -

Drive Around Balgay Hill Cemetery On History Visit To Western Necropolis Dundee Tayside Scotland
Tour Scotland travel video, with Scottish music, of a Summer drive around Balgay Hill Cemetery on ancestry, genealogy, visit to the Western Necropolis in Dundee, Tayside. In 1870 Balgay Hill was acquired and a portion of it laid out as a cemetery. William McKelvie was responsible for the layout of the cemetery, which is inspired by Pere La Chaise' garden cemetery in Paris, France. The cemetery was laid out such that the natural landscape of the hill was retained and it was opened by the Earl Of Dalhousie on 20th September 1871. Known initially as the Western Necropolis, its name was later changed to avoid confusion with the Western Cemetery on the Perth Road. It was extended to the southwest in the 1970s, abutting Glamis Road, but all of the plots were allocated by the late 1980s and a new cemetery opened at Birkhill in 1989.

The Stunning Iowa State Capitol Building - One of the Best!
Visit one of the countries' most beautiful state capital buildings in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Iowa State Capitol is truly one of the most beautiful capitol buildings in the United States. Its Renaissance style gives the impression of strength and dignity combined with utility. The main dome is adorned in actual gold leaf that is reapplied every 10-15 years.
There are self-guided and docent-led tours available for the interior sections. The Rotunda is breathtaking as you look above to spot stained glass and intricate details on the ceilings.
The grand staircase wraps around with wood and marble surfaces from the ground floor towards the 1st level where you will find rooms designated for various state offices.
On the 2nd level you will find the Senate and the House chambers. The Supreme Court chamber retains its original look, although the court itself has moved to a separate building. The furniture, wall coverings and other details have kept true to their original style.
The Law Library is the crown jewel of the various rooms. The woodwork is absolutely exquisite and its spiral staircases and balcony of books are stunning. Here you will also find some of the rarest books in the state that includes a text that Benjamin Franklin printed out of his original press.
There are also many beautiful mosaics, paintings, and sculptures - all honoring the spirit and vision of the great state of Iowa.
