If you're an American, Canadian or Australian tourist, you'll be able to travel visa-free throughout the UK, providing you have a valid passport and your reason for visiting meets the immigration rules (link is external).

Citizens from some South American and Caribbean countries as well as Japan are also able to travel visa-free around the UK.

Belper Walk: Town Centre【4K】

Located in the county of Derbyshire, and around eight miles north of Derby, is the town of Belper.

Geographically Belper is situated on the east bank of the River Derwent, just southeast of the Peak District. Its name is believed to be a corruption of 'Beaurepaire', meaning beautiful retreat in French - the name given to a hunting lodge, the first record being a charter of 1231.

From as early as the 12th century, Belper became a centre for nail making. This was made possible by the existence of ironstone and coal in the surrounding Derbyshire landscape. By the late 18th century there were around 500 nailers' workshops in the town. With the coming of the Industrial Revolution, nail making declined and a new industry emerged in Belper - cotton.

Belper became one of the first 'mill towns'. This came about when local industrialist Jedediah Strutt built a water-powered cotton mill, first at the neighbouring village of Cromford, then at Belper. The Strutt family were significant benefactors of the town for around 150 years, providing for their workers' employment, housing and education. Prior to the Industrial Revolution, the population of Belper was around 800. By the 1830s, this had risen to around 8,000.

In 1840 the railway arrived in Belper as part of the Derwent Valley line. In its heyday this line provided a direct route from Derby to Manchester via the Peak District. However, in 1968 the line was severed past Matlock due to government cutbacks, with the aforementioned becoming the northern terminus. The entrance to Belper station is rather inconspicuous as it is hidden behind an alleyway beside Poundland.

Whilst the textile industry in Belper has long since declined, its legacy remains. The East Mill, constructed in the 1910s, has been repurposed as an electricity generator, harnessing power from the River Derwent. This features from around the 15-minute mark in the walk.

Welsh-born actor Timothy Dalton was raised in Belper.

10 Most Hated Towns in England

What are the most hated towns in England? No matter how good a country is, every part of it can’t be loved equally. In fact, some parts of it are bound to be hated. Even the most fanatic lover of a country will love some parts of it less than others. I have heard some people complaining about some towns in England, the home of the Queen that some people are dying to live and work in. That prompts research into the 10 most hated towns in England.
This ranking is based mainly on the comments and complaints of residents of England and visitors to those towns. But it’s not limited to that since some complaints can be completely baseless. We dig deeper in researching these 10 most hated towns in England.
10. Slough
Let’s begin with Slough, a town in Berkshire, within the historic county of Buckinghamshire. This town is 20 miles west of central London and 19 miles northeast of Reading. You will find the town in the Thames Valley and within the London metropolis around the area at the intersection of the M4.
In spite of its location, Slough according to those visitors, is a town whose streets are littered with empty takeaway and full of packets or empty beer cans. This assertion hasn’t been contradicted by even just one resident. The quality of food in the town’s restaurants appears, kind of, made for losers who’re just out to eat as much unhealthy food as they can get away with.
9. Scunthorpe
It’s not desirable to find Scunthorpe among the most hated towns in England. Unfortunately, we can’t afford to take it out of our list because the facts obviously place it there. This industrial town in the unitary authority of North Lincolnshire should normally be the pride of Lincolnshire as its main administrative center. But the town with an estimated population of 82,334 in 2016 had many things going against it.
Residents of the UK’s largest steel processing center, also known as the Industrial Garden Town, are frustrated by a lack of the liveliness and diversity in the town only known for work. However, the loudest grouse that lists Scunthorpe alongside the most hated towns in England is the indiscriminate censorship and blocking of websites for spurious reasons.

Top 5 Reasons NOT to Move to Derby

The reasons you should know moving to Derby and why living
in derby & derbyshire will make your life worse than Birmingham.

Derby and Derbyshire were among the centres of Britain's Industrial Revolution. In 1717, Derby was the site of the first water-powered silk mill in Britain. Derby has a green belt area defined to the north and east of the city, first drawn up in the 1950s, to prevent convergence with the surrounding towns and villages. Derby's climate is classified as warm and temperate. The rainfall in Derby is significant, with precipitation even during the driest month.

Places to see in ( Belper - UK )

Places to see in ( Belper - UK )

Belper is a town and civil parish in the local government district of Amber Valley in Derbyshire, England, located about 7 miles north of Derby on the River Derwent. As well as Belper itself, the parish also includes the village of Milford and the hamlets of Bargate, Blackbrook and Makeney.

Belper expanded during the early Industrial Revolution to become one of the first mill towns with the establishment of several textile mills; as such, it forms part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.

Belper's economy was traditionally reliant on manufacturing industry and numerous goods were made in the town. Cotton spinning and textile production were major employers virtually for much of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The large East Mill and the smaller North Mill are now all that remain of the industry and are preserved as part of the Derwent Valley Mills world heritage site.

The A6 is the major through-road of the town of Belper and runs parallel to the River Derwent to the west. Belper railway station is situated on the Midland Main Line. Regular trains between Derby and Matlock on the Derwent Valley Line are almost the only services to stop there.

The construction of the North Midland Railway in 1840 brought further prosperity. Belper was the first place in the UK to get gas lighting, at a works erected by the Strutts at Milford. Demand was such that in 1850, the Belper Gas and Coke Company was formed, with a works in the present Goods Road. Electricity followed in 1922 from the Derby and Nottingham Electrical Power Company's works at Spondon.

( Belper - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Belper . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Belper - UK

Is Belper worth visiting? Let's take a look and find out!
Also watch Skegness 👉🏻

We head to Belper in the Amber Valley part of Derbyshire, situated in the East Midlands area of England to see what's there and to answer the question 'is Belper worth visiting'.

The town of Belper is 8 miles north of Derby and is situated in the valley of the River Derwent.

Belper has a farmers market which is held on Belper's historic market place on the second Saturday of every month, selling a wide variety of things from local cheeses, honey, bread, brownies, cakes and more.

What is Belper famous for?
The town now holds World Heritage Status due to the historical significance of being one of the first mill towns and forms part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.

Belper used to be totally reliant upon manufacturing, such as cotton spinning and textiles in the mills (such as East Mill and North Mill).

Today the main sectors in Belper are retail, services and tourism, and thanks to great shopping streets like King Street the town wins awards for it's shopping. In 2014, Belper was presented with the High Street of the Year award for the Market Town category, as well as winning the award overall.

As well as the town of Belper itself, the parish also includes:

Bargate
Belper Lane End
Blackbrook
Broadholm
Far Laund
Farnah Green
Makeney
Milford
Mount Pleasant
Openwoodgate
White Moor

Is Belper worth visiting?
I would say absolutely yes! Enjoy a walk down King Street shopping, spend time in the historical streets of this great town, and have lunch in the Black Swan in the Market Place.

Walking in my local area: Belper, Derbyshire.

With the new lockdown being introduced I have decided to do a series of walking videos where I will be exploring my local area! I recently moved to Belper last year and haven't managed to explore much of the area. With the new rules still allowing us to go on a walk in our local area it has given me the perfect reason to get out and see what Belper and the surrounding area has to offer! (All done within the lockdown rules and guidelines of course).

I know how fed up we all are of the current situation but I truly believe getting outside and walking once a day is one of the best ways to get through these times, even if its just a 10 minute walk around the block. I hope you all mange to get out on a walk and we'll be out of this nightmare before we know it! Hope you enjoy the video. See you in the next one! :)

Places to visit in Belper: Belper River Gardens

This is a small video that I have done of Belper River Gardens using my DJI Mavic Air ( It was taken in March/April 2018.

Belper River Gardens has been available to the local residents and tourists for over 100 years and there is plenty to do. From hiring a rowing boat to float down the river Derwent or let the kids have a run around on the park, on some days you can even listen to music from the bandstand.

Belper Tea Rooms is also going to come back from the dead, with a small group of people wanting to rebuild the old Swiss Tearooms. For more information on the Belper Tea Rooms or to support the rebuild by purchasing a brick, please visit:

Derbyshire England Things To Do

If you don't know what places to visit in Derbyshire this video is for you. It suggests visiting Matlock Bath and surrounding area. You can see cosy village of Matlock Bath, famous attraction Heights of Abraham with cable cars, caverns, tower, fossil factory, etc.; Cromford Mill, Crich Tramway Village. In Tramway Village we've been really lucky to meet reenactors dressed in Victorian clothes.
Enjoy!
