Nelamanagala to Bellur Cross - Bangalore to Ooty Trip (Video 2)
This is part of the series of videos for Ooty Trip from Bengaluru
As part of the trip, the second leg is to drive from Nelamanagala town to Bellur Cross on National Highway going to Mangalore. We exit the NH at Bellur cross to go towards Mysore.
We skipped the main Mysore road from South west due to ongoing Expressway work and many diversions during the road and on top of it Google uncle was showing way more time. Until Expressway is complete and you are from North Bengaluru, try this highway to reach Mysore.
Excellent road conditions until Bellur Cross. From there on it is single road without divider, though road is quite wide. Will capture the road from Bellur Cross to Mysore Bypass in next video.
0:51 - 0:53 - Bro was in so much hurry, he drove from lane 3 to fast lane, only to save himself from Bus in the front. Always be cautious on NH, especially around Buses and Trucks.
3:36 - Safari bearing OD Odissa number took wrong left lane change in front of Renault Scala.
3:41 - Scala driver stopped and probably tried to remember mother and sister of Safari driver for wrong turn.
6:20 - The scumbag driver, who doesnt have interest to drive on the NH, giving way to other cars but not to cars behind and driving like a d!k.

Bagur Navile Water Tunnel | Longest water tunnel in India | Hassan Tourism | Karnataka Tourism
Bagur Navile Water Tunnel is the Longest water tunnel in India part of Hassan Tourism, Channarayapatna Tourism, Karnataka Tourism.
Bagur Navile Tunnel is the longest water tunnel in India, an engineering marvel, constructed between 1979 and 1990 is located between Bagur ( ಬಾಗುರ್ ) and Navile village of Channarayapatna taluk of Hassan district, Karnataka. The water tunnel created between Bagur and Navile in Chennarayapattana taluk of Hassan district is the second longest water tunnel in Asia
The idea of constructing a tunnel was mooted during the tenure of the late D. Devaraj Urs. However, the irrigation expert Balekundri opposed it. Even Devaraj Urs is said to have warned during the foundation stone laying ceremony that constructing the tunnel below 200 ft may lead to depletion of the groundwater table. What was feared came true after the implementation of the project.
Work on the tunnel went on for 15 years, and by 1991, the adverse effects became apparent. The 9.76 km-long and 5.4 metre-wide tunnel runs between Bagur and Navile from A.G. Ramachandra Rao Canal of the Hemavathy project.Water is supplied from Hemavathy basin to Shimshabasin using this tunnel.
Length of the tunnel is 9.7 km, 75 to 200feet Deep under the ground. Water is supplied from Hemavathy basin to Shimshabasin using this tunnel. With an intention to supply 25 TMC water to Tumkur from the Hemavati dam, a channel was created in 1979 from Gorur to Bagur in Chennarayapattana taluk covering a distance of 50 km. However, a 10 km stretch in the midway was elevated and therefore a plan was chalked out to create a tunnel from Bagur to Navile to facilitate the supply of water. This tunnel has been dug to a depth of 150 ft. under the ground, even as the depth is about 300 ft. at some locations. The tunnel runs for about 10 km from Bagur and opens near Navile village. As a result of creating this tunnel, seepage of groundwater into the tunnel, borewells in the area had gone dry but several other drought-stricken villages got water.
All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) organised the farmers of many affected villages and launched a prolonged massive agitation in 1996 against the state. This came to be popularly known as the BAGUR-NAVILE AGITATION in the country, considered by some eminent social scientists as one of the most important peasant movements in post-independent India.
Farmers in over 40 villages of Bagur hobli in Channarayapatna taluk were facing problems as lift irrigation schemes proposed to help the affected farmers were not completed owing to non-availability of funds.
The Department took up two compensatory lift-irrigation schemes to irrigate the Bagur-Navile cluster of villages. But they were completed at an extraordinary delay of almost two decades.

Nuggehalli Lakshmi Narasimha Temple Channarayapatna Tourism Hassan tourism Karnataka tourism
Nuggehalli Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Temple Hassan tourism Channarayapatna Tourism Karnataka tourism Temples of Karnataka.
The Lakshmi Narasimha temple was built in 1246 CE by Bommanna Dandanayaka, a commander in the Hoysala Empire during the rule of King Vira Someshwara. The Hoysala temple is dedicated to Lord Narasimha who is believed to be an avatar of Lord Krishna. The Lakshmi Narasimha temple built in the trikuta (three towers). From outside, the temple actually looks like a ekakuta . The temple is attributed to two well known Hoysala sculptors, Baichoja and Mallitamma. The three shrines contain the images of Venugopala, Keshava and Lakshminarasimha, all avatars of Vishnu. Records say that this place is ancient and was patronized by the Cholas prior to the Hoysala rule. Legend has it that a saint by name Rushbha, performed penance and that the Lord Lakshmi Narasimha appeared before him .
These wonderful temples come under the purview of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and they have classified these as the “Living Temple – Monument”, (which are very few in number) wherein the pooja to the Almighty is being performed uninterrupted from day one. This classification is given to about 50 odd temples in India.
Nuggehalli used to be a flourishing town as seen in the inscription Ch.238. & an ancient place near which the Chola king is said to have constructed a temple of ‘Jayagondeshwara’ & to which the Hoysala king Vishnuvardhana gave some grants in 1121 A.D. A number of temples dedicated to ‘Vishnu & his incarnation’ were constructed during the reign of Hoysala King Vishnuvardhana.
Located a short distance away in Nuggehalli, and built around the same time is the Sadashiva temple. The town was called Vijaya Somanathapura in ancient times and gained importance as an agrahara (place of learning) during the time of Bommanna Dandanayaka. Nuggehalli, (also spelled Nuggihalli), is a town in Hassan district of Karnataka, India. It is located on the Tiptur-Channarayapatna state highway and is about 50 km from Hassan city.
The Lakshmi-Narasimha temple is a trikutachala constructed in 1246 AD during the reign of Hoysala Somesvara. The three sanctums house images of Kesava in the west, Lakshmi Narasimha in north and Venugopala in south. On plan, the temple has three sanctums, the western has sukanasi opening into a navaranga, preceded by a large mukhamandapa, a later pillared mandapa and a mahadvara, all set in a prakara in east-west orientation. The main temple, and the later period mandapa, is built on a raised platform. The bhitti is similar to that of Kesava temple at Somnathpur, elegant sculptures are placed shoulder to shoulder under patra-latha torana.
