A stroll through the Royal Pavilion: Brighton’s exotic palace
Let me take you on a tour of the Royal Pavilion in Brighton, East Sussex.
The Royal Pavilion is the most unique of England’s royal palaces. It was created by George IV, who incorporated his love for Asian design with strong influences from China and India.
It is a unique building with a stunning interior and well worth a visit. Take a stroll through the Royal Pavilion with me to see what it's like inside.

BEIGHTON VILLAGE LANDMARK 1890's Junction Signal-Box Sheffield before Demolished Completely
The term #Beighton #Junction has been used in a narrow sense to encompass either one, two or three junctions or even as a shorthand for Beighton Junction Signal-box.
Beighton Junction 1849
The narrowest possible scope concerns the original Beighton Junction, which, essentially, stands today, i.e.: the single, core junction of a pair of lines east from Sheffield and a pair south from Rotherham. This has been constant from 1849, referred to hereafter as Beighton Junction 1849.
Beighton Junction 1891
On 1 December 1891 the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire railway (MS&LR) started running trains drawn by contractor's locomotives south from a new, additional, Beighton Junction, approximately 500 yards north west of the first Beighton Junction on the MS&LR, labelled in later Midland system maps as: Beighton Junction G.C., referred to hereafter as Beighton Junction 1891.

Unveiling the Charm of Bridlington, UK | 4K Walking Tour
Bridlington is a seaside town and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is on the Holderness part (Flamborough Head to the Humber estuary) of the Yorkshire Coast by the North Sea. The town is about 28 miles (45 km) north of Hull and 34 miles (55 km) east of York. The stream called Gypsey Race flows through the town and enters the North Sea at the harbour.
Bridlington is the ideal choice for a weekend getaway, for family beach holiday freedom, or a day trip to explore the 'real' British outdoors.
As a sea-fishing port, the town is known for shellfish, and is the largest lobster port in Europe, with over 300 tonnes of the crustaceans landed there each year. It has been termed the Lobster Capital of Europe. Alongside manufacturing, retail and service firms, its main trade is summer tourism.

Disused Railway Explore - Barlborough - LD&ECR Beighton Branch
Disused Railway Explore - LD&ECR Barlborough - Beighton Branch
We explore the disused LDECR (Lancashire, Derbyshire & East Coast Railway) Beighton Branch between the M1 motorway at Barlborough and Sheffield Road at Renishaw, Derbyshire.
A short section that is a little off the beaten path, with minimal footpaths on the trackbeds compared to other sectoins of the line.
We look at a few old bridges and an old platelayers hut left for nature to take over.
The LD&ECR Beighton Branch closed in sections, with this section closing in 1967.
As well as the old LDECR, we also can see remains of the Cottam colliery and Hazels Brickworks nearby, which had links to the main line. Remains of the old engine house can be found in a field close to the line.

My channel was set up in 2020 mainly to feature my running adventures. I planned to film and showcase the days out and destinations my running travels took me. Mainly the Peak District and the sights and marvels of Sheffield and the surrounding regions.
However due to Covid restrictions, I found a new interest in researching and exploring old abandoned places - railway lines, canal, woodland, parks to name a few.
So the videos you'll find will be mainly be of those things. Of course, where possible I'll be running to my destination.

Demolished Railway Station - Upperthorpe & Killamarsh #shorts
During an abandoned railway walk near Sheffield UK, we visited the site of the now
Demolished Railway Station - Upperthorpe & Killamarsh
Virtually no evidence remains of the station, which opened in 1898, but closed to passengers in 1930. The track was lifted in the 1980s. This once formed part of the Lancashire, Derbyshire & East Coast Railway (LD & ECR), on the branch line near Beighton. Known as the Beighton Branch.
This was one of three stations in Killamarsh, in North East Derbyshire.
Plenty of bricks scatter the site, which formed part of the old platform and station buildings. However the cutting in which the old station site is located has been victim to fly tipping and vandalism.

Disused Railway Explore - Rother Valley & Beighton Junction Sheffield - GCR, LD &ECR
Join me on another disused railway explore as we look at some old abandoned sites around the Rother Valley and Beighton Junction near Sheffield. All sights in the videos are shown on a map, so you can go and see them for yourselves.

25:12 Killamarsh Central Old Signal brackets and remains
We are looking spefically at a small section of land in the Rother Valley - which lies between Sheffield, Rotherham and Chesterfield on the borders of South Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
Historically, this area was a busy hub of collieries, plants and railway yards. All served by a vast network of lines.
We look at the two main lines that ran through the valley
- Midland Railway (the old road is still in use today and carries freight to avoid Sheffield and the odd passenger train)
- Great Central Railway - now disused and repurposed into a thriving trail (Transpennine Trail)
Threading between the two main lines were a network of branch lines. The main one being the Lancashire, Derbyshire & East Coast Railway (LD&ECR). It is this line which leaves behind some of the most interesting features.
We start by looking at a old photo from the 1950s of a once impressive junction (Midland Line & North Staveley Curve) and comparing it to today - a shadow of it's former self.
We take a walk down the old track beds and take a closer look at some of the old bridges & viaducts (some in not so great shape), some missing completely.
In the undergrowth, if you are prepared to explore further, you will find countless examples of old signal gantries, sleepers, telegraph poles and even a demolished signal box - wreckage left to be reclaimed by nature.

So many people were dressed up in their 40's outfits and clothing and the village came to life with vintage cars, army vehicles, a parade and procession, singers and live music (there was a George Formby tribute singer outside Fourteas tea shop).
This was a funpacked weekend full of nostalgia and there were people dressed in army uniform, Winston Churchill was wandering around, and everyone was having such a great time going back in time to the 40's!
The flyover from the Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster Bomber was spectacular too.
Bunting lined the streets, Union Jack flags flew everywhere, the ladies in their petticoats and hats and the men dressed sharp in their suits - fantastic stuff!
Along the way we had tea and scones in Forteas (a lovely little 1940's styled tearoom), and of course had to have a pie at the famous Hunters Of Haworth pie cafe - delicious! The Fleece Inn has a great display of flags and delicious beers, and we stuck our nose into the Oh La La Vintage Shop to see what's on offer.
Further up Main Street past The Kings Arms pub we bought some lovely vintage sweets from Mrs Beighton's Sweet Shop - what a fab day we had!
Haworth is a village in City of Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, in the Pennines, 3 miles south-west of Keighley, 10 miles west of Bradford and 10 miles east of Colne in Lancashire. The surrounding areas include Oakworth and Oxenhope. Nearby villages include Cross Roads, Stanbury and Lumbfoot.
Haworth is a tourist destination known for its association with the Bronte sisters and the preserved heritage Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.
Often coined Bronte country, Haworth is one of Yorkshire's most famous villages and attracts visitors from all over the world all year round. Famous for being home of the beloved Bronte family and the backdrop for many of their novels, literary fans flock here in their thousands!
This really was the best. Haworth 1940's Weekend - put it in your diary for next year and don't miss it because this is one heck of an event!

Stagecoach South Yorkshire 7 Full Route Visual- Crystal Peaks to Ecclesfield, Monteney Road
I have to admit, this is definitely one of my favourite routes in Sheffield now! This is a route visual of the 7, which runs from Crystal Peaks Bus Station to Ecclesfield, Monteney Road via Lilac Road, Beighton, Woodhouse, Normanton Spring, Normanton Hill, Richmond Park, Intake, Manor Top, City Road, Granville Road, Moor Market, Arundel Gate Interchange AG7 (Sheffield City Centre), Nursery Street, Neepsend, Penistone Road, Owlerton, Sheffield Stadium, Wadsley Bridge, Kilner Way Retail Park, Chaucer School (& Asda), Parson Cross and Ecclesfield High Street.
This route uses ADL Enviro 400 Hybrids from the Holbrook garage, and it runs every 30 minutes.
I apologise massively for the instability of the video at the start. I firstly had virtually no time to prepare & set up my phone correctly at Crystal Peaks, and I also couldn't set my phone up correctly because of the stupid, pointless 'Buses for Sheffield' banner that takes up the whole bottom of the front windscreen (I completely forgot it was there on the E400Hs)... So, I had to try and stick my phone halfway up the window, which wasn't appreciated considering my bluetac isn't the stickiest anymore. Thankfully though, this bus was so quiet that I was the only person upstairs for the majority of the route! ;)
Because I like this route so much, I've even treated this route visual to some captions about the roads it serves! So, please turn on the subtitles and pick 'English (United Kingdom)' in order to see what road you're on in the visual 👍
Thanks for watching! :)

Shirebrook Valley Walk / Explore - Lost Industry in Sheffield
We walk and explore around the Shirebrook Valley Nature Reserve in South East Sheffield. Home to lots of lost industry in sheffield.
The nature reserve includes remains of old sickle and sythe forges and mills, two disused dams (Rainbow Dam & Carr Forge Dam), an old sewerage works (Coisley Hill), a former colliery (Birley East Colliery) and a reclaimed landfill site.
The site sits next to the A57 between the villages of Beighton, Woodhouse and Hackenthorpe in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
A very common place for walkers, runners and cyclists, the Trans-Pennine Trail cuts right through the heart of the nature reserve.
If you explore away from the main paths, you can find evidence of the lost industry that has allowed nature to reclaim.
The nature reserve also includes a visitor centre and picnic area.

Rotherham Road (Beighton) Level Crossing (02/07/2022)
After upgrade during March 2021, there have been no new videos of the site, so I decided to fill the gap. There is a delay in down detection, but that's the only bug to be found.
