Iran, May 29th 2018

I'm still not sure if the song in this video is indeed a prayer call or not. Maybe it was from a Madrasa.

Walking from China to Germany, posting daily videos. Currently in Iran, about halfway through. This video is from 2018, a walking day. Here's the blog post it belongs to: ▶

Mazandaran Iran | azerbaijan iran
This reminded me that almost ten years ago, I proposed to the Iranian officials, through several articles and also speech in the Caspian Sea Conference in Babolsar of Iran 2000, to use the name of Mazandaran Sea as the Farsi equivalent of the Caspian Sea.

The Caspian Sea[a] is the world's largest inland body of water, variously classed as the world's largest lake or a full-fledged sea. An endorheic basin, it lies between Europe and Asia; east of the Caucasus, west of the broad steppe of Central Asia, south of the fertile plains of Southern Russia in Eastern Europe, and north of the mountainous Iranian Plateau of Western Asia. It covers 371,000 km2 (143,000 sq mi) (excluding the highly saline lagoon of Garabogazköl) and a volume of 78,200 km3 (19,000 cu mi). It has a salinity of approximately 1.2% (12 g/l), about a third that of average seawater. It is bounded by Kazakhstan from mid-north to mid-east, Russia from mid-north to mid-west, Azerbaijan to the southwest, Iran to the south and adjacent corners, and Turkmenistan along southern parts of its eastern coast.
iran azerbaijan rasht iran
The sea stretches nearly 1,200 kilometres (750 mi) from north to south, with an average width of 320 km (200 mi). Its gross coverage is 386,400 km2 (149,200 sq mi) and the surface is about 27 m (89 ft) below sea level. Its main freshwater inflow, Europe's longest river, the Volga, enters at the shallow north end. Two deep basins form its central and southern zones. These lead to horizontal differences in temperature, salinity, and ecology. The seabed in the south reaches 1,023 m (3,356 ft) below sea level, which is the second lowest natural depression on Earth after Lake Baikal (−1,180 m or −3,870 ft). Written accounts from the ancient inhabitants of its coast perceived the Caspian Sea as an ocean, probably because of its saltiness and large size.

The Caspian Sea is home to a wide range of species and may be best known for its caviar and oil industries. Pollution from the oil industry and, to a lesser extent, dams on rivers draining into it have harmed its ecology.

Abbas Abad, The Pleasure Corner of Shāh Abbās I, Behshahr, IRAN

At a distance of 9 km from Behshahr city in the foothills of Alborz mountains, we pass through Hyrcanian dense forests to visit the historical complex of Abbas Abad in Behshahr.
What human being can resist all this beauty and not surrender himself to the heart of nature?
Shah Abbas was no exception to this rule and had built this area as a hunting ground or in the words of the French archaeologist brignoli, his Pleasure Corner.
Abbas Abad Lake is a pristine nature in the heart of the mountain that has been created by human hands.
The lake is surrounded by dense forests.
Abbas Abad complex in Behshahr was built in 1611 AD, ie about 411 years ago by the order of Shah Abbas I.
This artificial lake has an area of about 10 hectares and a 4-arched mansion is located in the middle of it.
During the water intake of the lake, this mansion sinks under water and only the roof and its upper parts remain out of the water.
This Safavid garden is one of the largest non-desert gardens in Iran with an area of over 500 hectares.

Arak Mighan wetland, known as desert wetland, is one of the important centers of nature tourism and bird watching in 15 km northeast of Arak and southwest of Davood Abad. It is one of the most beautiful natural features of Markazi province. Its area varies from about 100 to 110 square kilometers and is located about 1655 meters above sea level. Mighan Wetland is one of the top 10 important wetlands in the country and has a direct physical impact on the climate of Arak and is the largest source of sodium sulfate.
The lake has temperate winters in terms of climate; this feature has caused the habitat of birds, especially migratory birds from the northern regions of Iran and cold regions in autumn and early winter. In the years when there is adequate rainfall, the wetland has considerable water and in the years of low water, the surface of the wetland is generally dry, desert and saline. Wetland water supply sources are rainfall, water of three rivers Qara Kahriz, Farahan and Shahrab and Arak wastewater treatment effluent.
Climate of Arak Mighan Wetland
Arak Mighan Wetland has unique ecological features, including the fact that it hosts a large number of migratory birds each year, and some of the rare and protected species are seen among these birds. Since this wetland in Markazi province has a high population of Dorna compared to other habitats in the country, it is more important for environmentalists. In general, more than 60% of the birds of the province and 16% of the birds of the country live in this wetland of the country and some species of migratory and native birds of this region are rare and valuable and their presence in the migratory season makes tourist groups to travel to the area and visit these birds.
Dorna, Chatgar, oyster eater, Butimar, stork, Ekras, Nakfeh Nok, Kashim, Duck, Woodpecker, Dagger tip, Gypsy rooster, Cormorant are some of the bird species recorded in this lagoon. In addition, herons, egrets, cattle egrets, flamingos, geese, ruddy shelduck, common shelduck, sand pipper, large white headed gulls, snipe, and eurasian teal have also been recorded. Meanwhile, the gypsy rooster, ducks, ducks, and flamingos amaze people by showing themselves as much as possible in the pristine nature of Mighan wetland and make them want to see more of the wetland. In addition to birds, mammalian species, Artemia and a variety of saline algae are found in this wetland. The vegetation of the region is more than saline plants or halophytes, which in this regard, the wetland is one of the most important reserves of saline plants in the country. Mighan wetland in Arak has been turned into a no-hunting area by the General Department of Environmental Protection of Markazi Province.

It has been a long time since I planned to travel to Star Valley and Naz Islands on Qeshm Island
But every time I talked about the Valley of the Stars and the cute islands, I said to myself, I can see them up close one day.
The Valley of the Stars was my dream to see it because I knew the locals of the Valley of the Stars know a sacred place
But finally it was time and I went to the Valley of the Stars. The first thing that fascinated me was the indescribable silence of the Valley of the Stars. It was an amazing place. See more explanations for yourself
Near the Valley of the Stars, telling us is an island called Cute Island. I said, My brother, I know where you say. Cute Island has been my dream. ? He said that the cute island was under water before 12 o'clock and then it came out of the water, I had lost all my leaves. I quickly said I should go and see the cute island. We went and arrived at your cute island to see what an amazing it was

Shirgah Forest, Mazandaran Province, Iran #traveling #forest #iran #shorts

Tangeh daar Nowshahr, Mazandaran Province, Iran,In Tangeh daar, we have the opportunity to climb the river with the flow of water. Many people are willing to come from long distances to Nowshahr and Kooshksara village to get this opportunity. Therefore, in this nature, we are supposed to see something more than the forest and something more than the river. All along our way we sit and enjoy the view of moss covered rocks, hanging ivy, light beams and high walls.
The good thing about the river that passes here is that it is permanent and flows in every season. But the best season to see it is spring; Both the air is cooler and the water depth is greater.
The depth of the river in its middle is not much; That is, we can walk up to 400 meters of the valley without anxiety and the water will not rise above our knees. The further we go, the narrower the path and the deeper the water, and finally we reach a place where the water reaches at least up to our chests. For this reason, it is better to either know how to swim, or to wear a vest, or to hold a rope in our hands as a group.
Along the way, we sometimes come across natural pools that we can dive into if they are deep enough. The route from the beginning to the end of the valley is about 1.5 km and the return trip is about three km.

Shiraz (/ʃɪəˈrɑːz/ (About this soundlisten); Persian: شیراز‎, romanized: Šîrâz [ʃiːˈɾɒːz] (About this soundlisten)) is the fifth-most-populous city of Iran[3] and the capital of Fars Province, which is also known as Pars (پارس, Pārs) and Persis (Persia).[4] At the 2016 census, the population of the city was 1,565,572 and its built-up area with Sadra was home to almost 1,800,000 inhabitants.[5] Shiraz is located in the southwest of Iran on the Rudkhaneye Khoshk (The Dry River) seasonal river. It has a moderate climate and has been a regional trade center for over a thousand years. Shiraz is one of the oldest cities of ancient Persia.

The earliest reference to the city, as Tiraziš, is on Elamite clay tablets dated to 2000 BC.[6] The modern city was founded or restored by the Umayyads in 693 and grew prominent under the successive Iranian Saffarid and Buyid dynasties in the 9th and 10th–11th centuries, respectively. In the 13th century, Shiraz became a leading center of the arts and letters, due to the encouragement of its ruler and the presence of many Persian scholars and artists. It was the capital of Persia during the Zand dynasty from 1750 until 1800. Two famous poets of Iran, Hafez and Saadi, are from Shiraz, whose tombs are on the north side of the current city boundaries.

Shiraz is known as the city of poets, literature, and flowers.[7][8] It is also considered by many Iranians to be the city of gardens, due to the many gardens, and fruit trees that can be seen in the city, such as Eram Garden. Shiraz has had major Jewish and Christian communities. The crafts of Shiraz consist of inlaid mosaic work of triangular design; silver-ware; pile carpet-weaving and weaving of kilim, called gilim and jajim in the villages and among the tribes.[9] In Shiraz industries such as cement production, sugar, fertilizers, textile products, wood products, metalwork, and rugs dominate.[citation needed] Shirāz also has a major oil refinery and is a major center for Iran's electronic industries: 53% of Iran's electronic investment has been centered in Shiraz.[10] Shiraz is home to Iran's first solar power plant.[11] Recently the city's first wind turbine has been installed above Babakuhi mountain near the city.
The earliest reference to the city is on Elamite clay tablets dated to 2000 BCE, found in June 1970, while digging to make a kiln for a brick factory in the south western corner of the city. The tablets written in ancient Elamite name a city called Tiraziš.[12] Phonetically, this is interpreted as /tiračis/ or /ćiračis/. This name became Old Persian /širājiš/; through regular sound change comes the modern Persian name Shirāz. The name Shiraz also appears on clay sealings found at a 2nd-century CE Sassanid ruin, east of the city. By some of the native writers, the name Shiraz has derived from a son of Tahmuras, the third Shāh (King) of the world according to Ferdowsi's Shāhnāma
Though, there is no definitive record of its existence prior to the late 7th century CE, few archaeological finds dating from 1933 and beyond indicate that the site or vicinity of Shiraz was likely settled in the pre-Islamic era as early as the 6th century BCE.[14] A number of Sasanian-era remains have been discovered around the city, including reliefs at Barm-e Delak to the east and Guyim to the northwest, and ruins of Sasanian fortresses at Qasr-e Abu Nasr to the east and Fahandezh.[15] The latter is identified with the fortress of Shahmobad mentioned as being in Shiraz by the 10th-century geographical work, Hudud al-'alam.[15] The names Tirrazish and Shirrazish were found on Elamite tablets in Persepolis, while Sasanian and early Islamic-era clay seals found at Qasr-e-Abu Nasr mention the name Shiraz alongside the name of the Sasanian administrative district of the area, Ardashir-Khwarrah.[16] According to the diplomat and academic John Limbert, this indicates that the name Shiraz is traced back to the Elamite Shirrazish and that both refer to a settlement that existed at the site of Qasr-e-Abu Nasr.[16] This settlement prospered between the 6th and 8th-centuries CE and was possibly the administrative center for the Shiraz plain until the modern city of Shiraz was founded.[17] Nonetheless, the lack of references to Shiraz in early Persian sources suggests the city could not have been more than a way-station in the plain in which it lays
Shiraz is located in the south of Iran and the northwest of Kerman Province. It is built in a green plain at the foot of the Zagros Mountains 1,500 metres (4,900 feet) above sea level. Shiraz is 800 kilometres (500 mi) south of Tehran.

Abas Abad Dam

The historical complex of Sadabad-e-Abad is considered to be the largest garden of the Safavid period of Iran and as one of the sights of Behshahr, it hosts many tourists every year. Lake Abbasabad is also one of the best destinations for relaxation and escape from the smoky atmosphere of the city, with a multitude of trees that have risen around it and with the singing of birds, next to the remains of the historic mansion.
Abbasabad Dam is one of the historical monuments and sights of Mazandaran province, which is located in the foothills of the Alborz Mountains. Abbasabad Dam is one of the most important and largest historical gardens in Iran and has been registered in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Abbas Abad Dam was built by order of Shah Abbas I Safavid in 1020 and 1021. Abbasabad, a non-desert area of Iran, reaches 500 hectares. Abbas Abad Lake complex includes gardens, lakes, baths, etc.
Abbasabad Lake has an area of 10 hectares, which at the time of water intake reaches a height of 18 meters. In the center of Abbasabad Dam in Behshahr, there is a four-arched brick building, the upper surface of which used to be a building bed with wood materials and a clay roof. The quadrangle goes under water when the dam is flooded and only its upper surface is like an island out of water. One of the wonders of this mansion is the lack of brick stairs in and around the four-arched building. The water of the lake is supplied from the melt water of the surrounding winter, which flows into the lake with the help of collection canals, and in summer it is used to irrigate the rice paddies and to supply water to the surrounding villages.
